| | Professional Reviews | About.com 9 of 10 Viv is a 19-year-old werewolf living in Bucharest with her supernatural clan, known as "loup garoux". Her days are spent in the chocolate shop where she works, and her nights are spent hanging out at a nightclub where the hot-blooded gather...When she meets a sensitive mortal artist and falls in love with him, she must choose between her human side and her animal nature...While I won't say Blood and Chocolate is an out-and-out dog, it's not likely to get many genre fans' tails a-wagging...I'm actually a pretty lax critic when it comes to highly fanciful horror (hey, I even liked Wes Craven's Cursed!), but Blood and Chocolate was just too bland for my taste (think: a neutered Underworld without the vampires, action, and heavy CGI). - Staci Wilson Salon.com 8 of 10 Katja von Garnier's "Blood and Chocolate" offers the kind of B-movie pleasures -- albeit elegant B-movie pleasures -- that are hard to come by these days...The IMDb boards are buzzing with people who have read the young-adult novel (by Annette Curtis Klause) on which the movie is based, decrying the numerous liberties co-writers Ehren Kruger ("Skeleton Key") and Christopher Landon have taken with the story. That's always an issue when beloved books -- or even just OK ones -- are turned into movies. But never having read the book, I found "Blood and Chocolate" to be a lovely surprise, an imaginative and visually lush picture firmly rooted in the tradition of gothic romance and elegiac horror films about misunderstood monsters. - Stephanie Zacharek
