BitDefender Internet Security 2008 Small Box – 3PCs / 2 Years

I put this on my computer, and had to take it off because it used up too much of my system resources. Then when I went to remove it...I couldn't remove all the software. I went in and searched every file...but I couldn't delete some of them. Gave me unauthorized, or unable to delete file. I would stay away from this software. Even if it is cheap. If you could get rid of it without any problem...then I'd say try it. Bottom line is you won't be able to remove all the software, so it's not even worth trying. There are way too many better choices without any adverse conditions.

BitDefender is all they say it is, and more. It's got bells and whistles most of us will never use. Parental and Identity Controls are great examples. And there's a few problems. BitDefender doesn't come standard with Smartphone/PDA sync set up. If you want to sync your Smartphone/PDA with your PC, you'll have to go out to forums to get the info. Dont' bother with BitDefenders web site. Too difficult. I had a problem with the software almost immediately that required support. They responded quickly, but fell back to the old "uninstall/reinstall" and then directed me to the wrong software downloads. That meant a full day without BitDefender while I waited for them to respond to their mistake. The other problem, which eventually stops happening, is BitDefender will ask several times whether you're using a home/work or public network. But after answering this prompt six or seven times, it stops happening. But for $23 for 3 PC's and two years? Who's complaining!?

If only I could give a product a negative rating. It has been a small nightmare trying to get this to install successfully. Have gone round and round with support and still no go. They also offered me an upgrade to their 2009 version. That one will not work either. I cannot say anything good about it. I have seen giant ant hills with less bugs. Oh, one more thing. Don't buy this if it's the parental controls you're after. I have it set to teen (the most liberal setting before adult) and it blocks everything. In fact it keeps blocking everything I click on to get this review submitted. What a pain in the ***.

I was very happy to see how much lower the price of the product was on Buy.com. I purchased 2 of them. They each provide internet security for up to 3 computers. It was a little rough on the install. You have to make sure that all of your previous security is completely out of you computer. I needed help with a few items. Their customer service at Bitdefender is horrible. The person trying to help me sounded like he was asleep. He was rude and assuming I knew everything about computers. He sent me some emails to download thinking they would help, but they didn't. I asked my neighbor for help instead. I would not call their customer service department for anything.

I wasted a beautiful Sunday afternoon trying to get this to work. Many reviews said it was easy to install, well not in my case. After my forth try and third time working with their support I still can't get the security center to open. The program seems to be working but I can't get into it to make changes. So I uninstalled it and went back to my old (free) software. I got a response from a message board with some fixes but I haven't tried them yet. I still am quite angry over my experience with it. But I will try to get it going again soon and will report back.

Bitdefender is it. After my old XP system was literally brought to its knees with a wave of Vundo trojans, Bitdefender was the only tool out of a half dozen or so I tried that made a dent toward restoring the system. Although any 'anti-virus' program is always going to be playing catchup, it's bitdefender's excellent firewall - which alerts you anytime something is trying to get into or out of your system - that really puts the clamp on bad guys trying to do something to your system. Later I decided to make the switch to a Vista system. Bitdefender works just as well with Vista and I had no problem transferring my user license to the new system. Worth every penny, and with the three system license you can protect all of your PCs.

I have used so many Antivirus/Firewall softwares, but this one is so easy, user friendly and on top of that, it DOES NOT consume too much of your computer memory, while OTHER softwares will slow down your computer because of excess memory use. I am using this product from more than 3-4 months, i will definitely recommend this to anyone. A must buy product...

Two years of protection for a third of the cost to renew with McAfee and BitDefender found a Trojan on the first scan after installation - a problem McAfee missed! Now I know why it is rated so highly by independent sources.

This software works great and was very easy to install. It also works with the Vista 64-bit operating system. The gamer mode works well for my son's computer. I would very highly recommend this software.

BitDefender overcomplicates the defense system. The anti-virus and the heuristic AV detection system are good...but that's all you need. The system replicates what windows firewall and defender do. The only thing it can do that any of these products can't is put parental controls on the system. Bitdefender internet security uses up way too many system resources unnecessarily, and slows a system way down. I use a fairly new Toshiba laptop with W Vista. Bitdefender AV is all you need. The rest is ...well...garbage. As far as value...using 2 mail-in rebates, I guess it's o.k.. Without the rebates, it's too costly to me. The system replicates what windows and the browsers and e-mail systems already do. The one thing the firewall did do, if you wanted it to, was let you decide which scripts could run on your computer. About the only thing, that I saw, that your standard browser doesn't do.

Pros: -Simplistic interface -Easy setup -Good price with rebate from Buy.com -Game mode to keep pop ups from occuring while your doing something on line. Gaming, video chat, etc. -Three licenses for 2 years convers all my PCs with one application Cons: -Slows computer start up and application load time (vs. old anti virus app I had from CA) -Annoying pop up windows (but many can be turned off) -Little documentation in manual -Unintuitive interface when changing settings (vs. Trend product) Good application for non tech savvy or bargain hunter (with rebate). Ultimately it likely does its job that it was intended to do, and if so, that is enough for me. 2 year license for three PCs is a good bargain even without rebate.

I’m a mac person. I saw a great deal on a pc laptop that I couldn’t resist due to cost. Within a week, I was totally frustrated with how screwed up my computer became due to loads of spyware. This is something I never had to deal with with my mac. I was about to return my laptop when a buddy recommended this software. It was like night and day. I cant believe how much junk this software holds back from messing with my PC. Thought I’d share my story.
