Proactive Protection from:

This is a horrible product. It taxes your system and doesn't work on top of it. Then when you uninstall, it doesn't uninstall totally. I bought this in June '08, and have uninstalled today. Will never use again. 2 years? isn't worth a day! Please do not buy. I originally reviewd this when I bought it. I had it on my laptop and desk top. Do yourself a favor and stay away from it. You can try it, but after it's been on your system, you'll have security bugs. Everytime I restart my computer, I have to restart my current AV and Windows Defender. BEWARE! Was this review helpful?

Well I tried all of them from Norton,Avast,CA,Mcafee, plus AVG and Kaspersky and this is one of the best because of low system requirements and because my computer does not slow down because of it. The interface is actually the good thing about this program because its not bulky and it does not have too many worthless features. Green means your protected and red means your not it is that simple some may like more features but in this case less is more. It has a built in spyware and malware remover so you do not need an extra program for spyware plus the 2 year subscription is icing in the cake. Was this review helpful?

If you're sick and tired of your PC running like a snail because of Norton antivirus slowng it down then BitDefender is for you.
My laptop was taking a very loooong time to finish booting after the Windows XP splash screen appears because Norton was busy doing "stuff", like staring up Norton services, that I learned on the internet security forums, are not necessarily needed.
Norton has become too fat and bloated.
BitDefender is lean and mean... not only is my laptop booting up much faster, but my intial scan found three email bourne viruses still in the attachments of saved mail that Norton did not detect.
I also became tired of Norton's expensive subscription renewals, I bought a BitDefender 3 user, 2 year license version for the same price Norton wanted for one 1 yr subscription renewal for one subscription on their 3 user version. Norton makes you buy 3 subscriptions, don't know what BitDefender will do when my 2 years are up... but it will probably be cheaper to repurchase anyway and get a newer version as well.
I see that there is some complaints about support... that just seems to be what the norm is these days from many software vendors. I can tell you that my last My last experience with Norton support wasn't any more pleasant, and was one of the reasons I started looking for an alternative AV software. Was this review helpful?

I was suprised to see any negative comments about BitDefender technical support. I bought the product after seeing theBestBuy award with PC World magazine, after my good experiance (it found some viruses Norton didnt) I have told friends and coworkers about it and they all seemed as pleased as I am. I love BitDefender it seems to be the best value for the price other than using something free that dosent update. I have no Vista issues like the other reviewer but he seems to be reviwing the older version that didnt support Vista based on the dates in his review. This Antivirus system will not always perform properly with Vista. 24/7 tech support is virtually non-existent and is apparently based in Romania.
The Support agents will pretend they can't hear you (if using the 1-888 number) or will disconnect (when using the internet chat based sessions) when they cannot figure out your problem. They are also rude, and this leads me to believe they are aware of the Vista Incompatibility. The "No questions asked" refund is impossible to collect on, and they are trained to give customers the run-around.
