 Editor's Note
Life is never simple for the Henricksons, a Utah fundamentalist Mormon family. BIG LOVE: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON opens on a dramatic note as the clan tries to discover who outed Barb (Jeanne Tripplehorn) as a polygamist. All signs point to sleazy patriarch Roman (Harry Dean Stanton) and the Juniper Creek compound. On a lighter note, Bill (Bill Paxton) falls for Ana, a Serbian waitress at the local diner, and envisages the idea of a fourth wife. Meanwhile, pregnant Margene (Ginnifer Goodwin) takes a shine to Ana, and uptight Nicki (Chloe Sevigny) endures more family problems.

| | Professional Reviews | Ultimate DVD 4 stars out of 5 -- "The problems polygamy can bring within and without the family...provide a wealth of storylines..." 04/01/2008 p.95Variety 9 of 10 The most striking thing about HBO's captivating new drama "Big Love" is that it starts in the middle, without pause for background or explanation, chronicling the life of a polygamist and his three wives as if they were just another family, with more complicated issues. It's a bold move, tossing off crumbs of backstory through the first five episodes...As with HBO's best dramas, "Big Love's" point of differentiation from broadcast TV isn't defined by its graphic sex scenes. Rather, what's unusual is how the show allows these relationships to unfold so assiduously, fostering curiosity about what prompted Barb to accept this arrangement. - Brian Lowry
