 Editor's Note
Mel (Mark Wahlberg) is a neurotic, overworked hit man working for two crime bosses--Cisco (Lou Diamond Phillips) and Paris (Avery Brooks). He has a demanding fiance (Christina Applegate) with parents he's trying to impress and a gold-digging mistress (Lela Rochon) to occupy his scarce free time. Cisco proposes that stressed-out Mel kidnap Keiko (China Chow), the young daughter of Jiro Nishi, a wealthy Japanese industrialist. Mel captures her, but unfortunately Cisco is unaware that she is the goddaughter of Paris, who promptly puts a separate crew out to find and destroy Keiko's captors---and Paris is unaware that Mel is the man they are looking for. This unique and violent blend of action and comedy was executive produced by John Woo

5 of 5 Very ENTERTAINING!! Sunday, November 21, 1999 Special K from New York
This movie is a non-stop action/comedy adventure. If you're in the mood for excitement, mixed in with some genuine laughs, check this movie out! The first 'hit' scene is stunning! Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 The Big Hit in all Senses Saturday, September 18, 1999 Rod Tobias from Sarasota, Florida
The Big Hit offers somewhat brainless and action along with an uninvolved plot, and some fairly twisted humor. All in all, it is a decent movie, if you're looking for a senseless action flick with some sick comedy. Concerning plot, it is about a hit-man who unknowingly kidnaps his boss' god-daughter to make some extra cash. He developes a strange relationship with his abductee; however is hunted by one of his best friends courtesy of his boss. A strange action-comedy with a few redeeming qualities make this a fairly brainless, however amusing movie. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 My Review Thursday, July 29, 1999 Jared Carter from Redlands, CA
This is a horrible movie. Sure some cheesiness can be looked over in some movies if its for comedy, but this it was way too cheesy and not that funny and frankly the action is not that great. A few funny parts (which is the only reason I gave a 3) but overall a complete waste of time. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Overall the story was unrealistic. Thursday, June 17, 1999 A Viewer from San Francisco, CA
Christina Applegate is beautiful. If you like hard core shooting with a sick sense of humor, this is definately the movie for you. Keep in mind though, I thought this was a straight action flick but it is actually more on the comedy side with some good action sequences. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 The Big Hit is one cool movie Monday, June 07, 1999 hkboy2 from Portland, Oregon
The Big Hit has some nice cinematography in it (all thanks to Hong Kong directors Che-Kirk Wong and John Woo) but the plot of the movie is very weak. You go from a gunfight to making a kosher meal for the soon-to-be inlaws. But if you like the HK style hu Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 3 out of 5 Stars Monday, April 26, 1999 Kurios from Midland, Texas
A good bad guy? This movie is about a hit man that does his job unbelievably well. The opening hit is great, and then one of his crew comes up with an idea to make some money on the side by kidnapping the daughter of a rich Japanese businessman. They later find out that the man’s daughter is the Goddaughter of the Mafia boss they work for. One of the crew turns against our hero to save his own neck, and the fun begins. A little gross a times with impossible things happening at others (an indestructible Jaguar). What makes it enjoyable? It may be Christina Applegate asking if it’s perky enough, or the sweet Japanese schoolgirl, or the cooking scene, or the video store employee, oh, I know, it has to be the Japanese schoolgirl reading the ransom note. Action and comedy that’s worth the trip. Was this review helpful?
