5 of 5 So far, so great! Thursday, August 07, 2008 Mina from Alexandria, VA
I bought this 650 Watt power supply for $35 (after a $30 MIR) to replace the dead power supply on my mom's HP/Compaq desktop. It's been working great! There is a plug for everything I need and several newer types of connections that I didn't need yet. It's much quieter than many of the generic Power Supplies out there and seems to be doing a great job. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Works fine but too Noisey Monday, August 04, 2008 Steve from Florida
After placing the power supply in the case and firing it up the unit's fans were noticable at a distance. I used the motherboard's montitor to check power and how stable it was. All power outputs were fine but I live in the room with my computer and had to swap it out because of the loud fan noise. They use two small fast fans when one large quite one would have been better. 4 of 5 Works well but not totally silent Monday, June 23, 2008 bblouie from Baltimore, MD
The first power supply I was sent did not power on so I had to do a return, which took an additional two weeks. BFG Tech support helped me over the phone both installation times. The power supply is easy to install but unfortunately there's too many extra 4pin connectors if your system doesn't use them. Right now I have them tucked away in my case where a secondary cd-drive goes but I'll be hard pressed to find room if I upgrade that component. It would have been nice if extra cords were removable. The on light for the fan is very bright and might bother those that need to sleep in complete darkness and have their pc in their room (personally I think it's cool). The fan isn't that loud but definitely noticeable when you first turn it on. Overall I'm really happy with this purchase and I think it's a great savings.
The only question I had is whether the turbo fan should always remain on or if I should leave it off when I'm not doing system demanding tasks. As of now I leave it on constantly. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 PSU is tops for short $$$ Wednesday, June 04, 2008 Cappen from WORCESTER MA
No complaints, fits nicely into my generic ATX full tower case. The cables are long, plentiful, and easy to manage. I run the turbo fan all the time when the machine is up, the sound is noticeable but now worse than your average desktop these days. Got mine @ discount + MIR which made for a wickedly cheap PSU. SUpporting e8400 + 8800GT + optical + sata disk + 4 system fans. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Good psu, but not the quietest... Saturday, May 31, 2008 A Customer from Los Altos, CA
Even in the quiet mode this power supply is pretty noisy. I was building a server using discount parts (mainly mail in rebates) and this was the last addition swapping out the temporary PSU. This PSU was so loud I had to take it out and put the temporary one back in and bought one I knew to be quiet for 2x the money. Money well spent.
If you don't mind a steady decent hum this PSU is great, unfortunately for me I can't stomach that 24x7. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good Value, a bit noisy Sunday, May 18, 2008 A Customer from CT
Bought this PSU to replace the Aspire ATX-CW500WP4 because it can't handle 2 GeForce 7800GT SLI. This one has lot of power, but is considerably noisier than the old one. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great PSU Saturday, May 17, 2008 A Customer from Westminster, California
Run all my hardware, it is a little bit loud. Good ampere ratings. Very stable.
The blue LED looks nice too.
Good price after rebate.
I recommand it to everyone. Was this review helpful?
