| | | The W500 features an iris-like lens design that mimics our own eye, adjusting the aperture after analyzing the incoming video signal. The aperture is contracted during dark scenes for truer black tones and enhanced detail, while it is enlarged for bright scenes to maximize light output and enable a wider dynamic range. No matter what type of content is on, the W500 ensures that you get the very best viewing experience.

5 of 5 Great Projector for the Price Thursday, March 20, 2008 mpostle@gmail.com from Columbus, OH
Ok, I have been looking at projectors for approximately 3 months now and have decided on the BenQ. I have also done some research on the Sony Bravio AW10 and AW15, Mitsubishi HC1500, and a few others not worth mentioning in this same class. The first impression out of the box was pretty amazing...take in consideration i've never owned a projector before. The lens shift toggle is awesome, i can literally mount this projector anywhere and move the screen 5 feet in any direction. My setup is a 100" manual pull-down screen, and i sit about 12-13 feet back. I primarily use the projector to play xbox360...halo 3 and it works awesome. Some maps are brighter than others and may take some fine tuning, like snowbound for one. But overall this projector is well worth the money, esp when you can get the entire setup w/screen for under a grand. Feel free to e-mail me w/any questions and i'll be more than glad to answer them honestly.
Only cons I can think of is the room has to be fairly dark for you to truly enjoy the crisp image w/o any washouts. Also the contrast ratio wasn't as high as the Sony AW15, but i've heard conflicting reports where they looked very close once the image was up. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very impressed Tuesday, September 25, 2007 EMBII from Fargo ND
this projector worked great staight out of the box. The control system was very easy to use and at times it almost seemed the designers had me in mind. I haven't even opened the instructions and I'm getting quite a nice image even at 20 feet away. My friends and I are really enjoying movie nights at my house...With an almost 12X8 screen who's going to complain Was this review helpful?
