5 of 5 Good monitor if you can get it at a good price Friday, November 28, 2008
SE from Los Angeles, CA

I have purchased two of these from Buy.com over the last year. Pros: Simple clean appearance, relatively good quality, wide stable base, reasonably priced for a 20" display. Standard apps are all crisp and sharp, with very good contrast, and display is very bright. Cons: No height adjustment (tilt only), which was not a big deal for me at my current desk, but FYI. The power button is on the side, so you have to search for the button to find it nearly every time, which is annoying. Color accuracy and uniformity is not great. No DVI cable included (typical with most monitors). I bought an FP202W a year ago, and ended up buying a second one recently so that I could have two matching monitors for dual display. I was able to get them for about $180 each, so they were a pretty good deal. If you are picky about color accuracy and contrast for photo editing or other artistic endeavors, you will want to rent / borrow / buy a colorimeter (i.e. Gretag Macbeth) to create a custom profile for this monitor, as the brightness, contrast, and color are definitely not professional grade. I do software development with some photoshop as a minor hobby, so the color was not a huge concern. Fortunately I was able to borrow a colorimeter to create profiles. The second one I bought had one stuck pixel--fortunately it is near the bottom and not noticeable. Other than that, it's a good monitor.

5 of 5 Fabulous Friday, October 24, 2008
Karen Marston from Jacksonville Beach, Florida
Just received this monitor today and I'm absolutely thrilled. My previous monitor was also a BenQ. I bought that monitor from Buy.com also. Delivery was fast (2 days). Plugged it in, turned on the computer and wow! For the price you can't beat it. Planning to order another one, just to have on hand. I highly recommend this product.

4 of 5 widescreen shock Monday, October 06, 2008
A Customer from Chicago, IL
This is the largest monitor I've used, as well as the first non-CRT monitor. I love the improved picture and readability! There is, however, a different aspect ratio (widescreen) and no adjustment of pictures, so all graphics look stretched out. Also, the adjustment buttons on the side aren't explained, so figuring out how to use them is trial and error. A very good value for the money, however.

5 of 5 Got My Money's Worth Monday, September 29, 2008
Eunie from Derry, NH
I'm very happy with my new flat-screen monitor. It surpasses my expectations, given the reasonable price. Besides taking up less room, I'm impressed with the crispness of the video. Delivery time was speedy, too!

5 of 5 Sub-Par Display Thursday, May 29, 2008
chris from st. lous mo
I bought this monitor with very little expectation and was still let down. The color is terrible even after all adjustments possible, the display is not very bright and is not suitable for anything other than people who just surf online or for word-processing. The first one I was sent had over ten dead pixels and I had to send it back, with buy dot com you can only exchnage an item that is defective, you can't return it, i realized what a piece this monitor was right away and wanted to get another brand but you can only exchange an item after you have opened it, what a pain, exchanged for another that had just a few dead pixels and stuck with it.

5 of 5 Great deal Thursday, May 29, 2008
A Customer from Springfield, MO
This is one of the best LCDs I have owned. It has a clear image with no dead pixels. And the control buttons are on the side which is nice since I don't have to look at them.

average start up time. decent resolution. loses alot if you're not exactly in front. not so bad from the side angle but a pretty good bit looking down from a standing position. still a good buy for the price.

5 of 5 Excellent monitor Monday, February 04, 2008
A Customer from stafford va.
Excellent value for money. I went from a 17 inch CRT to this 20 inch monitor and the difference is unbelievable. I can not speak for durability of the product yet (only had it for 2 weeks) but everything else is of excellent quality. Far superior to more expensive 19" monitors I looked at before buying. Game images are crisp and clear at 1900x1250, no ghosts flickering or anything else . This monitor is really an excellent option.

4 of 5 Shiny Screen is Annoying Friday, February 01, 2008
david a from mays landing, nj
Buy dot Com, as usual, gave me a great deal and delivered in a timely manner. The monitor is big and bright, with excellent clarity. I do not like the shiny finish of the screen though. Reflections of any lights, windows or people are distracting.

5 of 5 great monitor Wednesday, January 09, 2008
smurfys from Grand Meadow, MN
easy setup, looks great and great price. Some people do not like controls on side but I luv it because they are out of site and how often do you actually use them. The power button is on top away from the rest, that is the only one I use after initial setup.

4 of 5 Bang For Buck Monday, January 07, 2008
Ryan Palma from Chicago, IL
Bought this unit to go along with a Mac Mini so I could squeeze out as much resolution for the price (this was the only 1600 x 1200 below $200 I had come across)and the wide screen is much better for the mac multimedia layout. The quality is terrific, it can be used as my multimedia center for my room (movies, music, etc..) though I do believe I have 1 dead pixel, I only noticed once. The only element that is not optimal, which is documented by most reviewers, is the menu is on the right making it difficult to shift things around. This did not bother me much, I figured it out the first time and set my preferences. The only things I used regularly is the brightness controls and its easy to remember where they are. Overall I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for a a monitor upgrade.

5 of 5 Great monitor, amazing price! Thursday, January 03, 2008
kentdavis from Holmes Beach, FL
$190 for a 20" flat screen with high resolution...delivered to your door? This would have been a fantasy a couple years ago and now it's plugged into my laptop. This is my first BenQ and it's working great off the D connector of my 3 1/2 year old Inspiron 8600. Pic is easily as sharp as the 24" Dell I use on my desktop. This was total plug and play right out of the box. After I ordered one 'uber geek' friend told me that I'd see distorted web pages and documents due to the letterbox dimensions. He was SO WRONG. At first the BenQ DID open up to a distorted window. Reboot and everything is perfect. Great deal!

4 of 5 Great Value HD LCD Monitor Wednesday, December 26, 2007
Darf Nader from San Francisco
While this monitor seems to work fine with a DSUB connection, it really works beautifully using DVI (not included). The screen is incredibly bright which does appear to wash out colors a bit. I turned the contrast and brightness down from the automatic settings to get what I felt was the best image. When showing all black there is a little back light bleed around the edges. I found it very clear for reading text, but also provided a great video image for watching movies. I didn't test it with video games. My major beef with the monitor are the controls which are on the right side edge. This and the fact that they are recessed and black on black, it is very difficult to read what the buttons are.

5 of 5 Awesome Value!! Thursday, December 13, 2007
Jeremy from Chesterfield, Mi
This monitor has really wowed me. The Controls on the side might blow a bit, but the picture is amazing. Much better than my 17" crt I upgraded from. No dead pixels here. I would gladly buy another in the future, and wish i bought it sooner. I play battlefield 2 and it's awesome on it, no ghosting or jaggies to be found. Buy it!!

4 of 5 Great LCD Monitor Tuesday, December 11, 2007
A Customer from Santa Ana, CA
You can't beat the price. I bought them for a client's office and I was surprised at the quality and ease of setup. Although i would have preferred that the driver was included in the box. I had to go find it online, which was trivial.

5 of 5 Good resolution for size Sunday, October 07, 2007
A Customer from Davis, CA
I bought this monitor about half a year ago, and it feels like it just came out of the box. It's brighter than the laptop's monitor that I hooked it up to, and the bigger screen area works wonders (in comparison to 1024x768). True, the buttons are all located on the right side of the monitor, but the good thing is that the power button is separated from the rest.

5 of 5 Good Tuesday, August 14, 2007
A Customer from garland, tx
no problems. colors, contrasts, brightness, etc. are fine. pros - wide screen XD and my video card supports it so instead of stretched out, i jsut have extra space. cons - the buttons to adjust brightness and whatever are on the side of the screen... cant see what you're pressing so it gets annoying to hit the wrong thing. and sometimes when i turn it off, i have to feel for the power switch and do the same when i turn it on. gonna take a while before i can just reach for it and automatically know where it is. lol i'd recommend it to anyone who doesnt have a problem with the buttons. besides that, its perfectly fine.

5 of 5 Great for spreadsheets Monday, August 13, 2007
A Customer from Jacksonville, IL
I bought this for work and it is excellent for spreadsheets because of the widescreen format. The picture quality is excellent and the pre-set mode settings (standard, photo, movie, etc.) are a handy feature. I would love to have one for home too to watch DVD's and may just do it.

1 of 5 Make sure it will work first. Saturday, July 07, 2007
TA from Santa Cruz, CA
This monitor only works with the resolution setting recommended by BenQ. If your computer doesn't have that resolution setting available the image and text on the screen is always distorted. I bought this monitor and returned it because it didn't work with my computer. The shipping costs to return the item cost me $15. I almost had to pay a 15% restocking fee. I don't know why I'm bothering writing this review because Buy.com will never post it. They don't post negative reviews.

4 of 5 Great LCD but NOT PERFECT Tuesday, July 03, 2007
Jay from Los Angeles, CA
I got this version as I originally order V1, very fast (5ms) and relatively bright (1000:1). The overall build quality is good. The image quality is so so (not as what I expected), text quality is not crystal clear as I expected, watching a DVD is ok. If you want to get a decent feeling of watching Real, Divx, or WMV movies, I recommend you watch from a distance or else you will regret. The worst thing is its inconvenient OSD control which locates on the side. The overall experience is good for its price range.
