Features: DVD Heaven has sent its best, and the devil has enlisted his worst - Victoria Abril and Penelope Cruz co-star as agents doing battle for ultimate supremacy. The winner is to be decided by whoever can secure the soul of a short-tempered, punch-drunk boxer on earth. These sexy angels pull no punches, using their brains, wiles and of course, sex appeal. Christopher Null, FilmCritic.com "...spunky and clever...many witty touches..." Editor's Note
Penelope Cruz and Victoria Abril are arch enemies in the Faustian tale DON'T TEMPT ME. Sent to Earth to determine the fate of boxer Manny (Demian Bichir), Lola (Abril) is an angel from Heaven, and Carmen (Cruz) is a devil pulled out of the vortex of Hell. For Lola, the mission is a chore, a nightmare, and puts her at risk for losing her cushy celestial spot. For Carmen, it is a gift, a vacation, and the one chance she has for redemption. Manny is stuck in the middle of these two manic forces, who must influence his decision to either stick with his competitive boxing career and risk a brain hemorrhage, or quit and save himself. At either end of the spectrum are higher forces. Gael Garcia Bernal plays the slick and slimy Davenport (read: Satan), ruling the chaotic, violent red regions of Hell from which Carmen was sprung. In Heaven, a lovely white oasis of cabaret and leisure time, Fanny Ardant is a graceful Marina D'Angelo who encourages Lola with her singing career. A witty and amusing film in French (Heaven), Spanish (Earth), and English (Hell), with many moments of tongue-in-cheek insight on the battle of good versus evil, director Augustin Diaz Yanes has spun an entertaining yarn with DON'T TEMPT ME.

| | Professional Reviews | DVD Verdict 8 of 10 What really stands out for me in this film, beyond the provocative use of multiple languages, is the acting of our female leads. Subtle yet effective, Abril and Cruz are charming, sexy, shy, and excellent in their roles...I enjoyed Don't Tempt Me. It is certainly not a film with anything especially groundbreaking, but the different approach to celestial turmoil is engrossing and almost fun. Still, the disc has its problems with the video transfer and the worthless special features, so I'm not going to give this one a recommendation for either purchase or rental. Somewhere down the road, if it happens to appear on one of the 500 cable channels available, that would be the best time to sit down and see if you enjoy this film. - Eric Profancik Reel.com 8 of 10 Mark Twain once quipped that he'd "go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company." Of course, Twain might have changed his mind if he'd been around to see director Agustin Diaz Yanes's version of the afterlife in the saucy and slyly funny black comedy Don't Tempt Me. Spanish screen sirens Victoria Abril and Penelope Cruz square off as angels from Heaven and Hell vying for the soul of a down-on-his luck boxer (Damian Bechir). Although Yanes sometimes get lost in the thick of his own screenplay - we never know why this boxer's soul affects the divine balance between Heaven and Hell - Don't Tempt Me is finally so imaginative and witty that you forgive its' narrative sins of omission. - Tim Knight
