1 of 5 Belkin N1 Wireless Router Thursday, February 21, 2008 chnorthcutt@peoplepc.com from Pelham, tn 37366
I purchased this Router because of its claim to reach 1400 ft. I needed to have access to my Garage which is approx 200 ft from my house. The signal would have to pass thru a standard outside wall in the house, no bricks, no concrete products and the same for the garage. The signal would not transmit 200 ft. I carried my pc watching for a signal. It would work satisifactory approd 175 ft. I do not know how they can make this claim. I call belkin tech support and they gave some reasons like it depends on the wall thickness and the weather. So if you are buying this product to take advantage of it reaching 1400 ft then I would suggest you look fo a different product. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 A bit disappointed Sunday, February 10, 2008 Dave from Gainesville, FL
Based on the reviews I read here I thought this would be the dream wifi router. The set up was a breeze as others have stated but the signal strength seems no better than my old wireless G router. I put out the extra bucks for this in the hopes of getting a stronger signal and faster download speeds. I don't have the draft N card in my laptop but reviews said there should still be an improvement.
If you need a new wireless router this may be a good choice. Just would not make the leap if your G is still functioning. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Don't bother with the others... Thursday, January 31, 2008 Drew Griffiths from Chesapeake, VA
I used to be a tried and true Linksys fan. I was looking between the Apple AirportExtreme N router and the new Linksys N with USB connectivity. I read a few reviews and both stated a few issues. I thought they were a select few. I was in desperation, so I went ahead and bought the Linksys anyway. Got it home and it was terrible. I took it back to the store where I got it and looked at this Belkin (its not as big as the pictures show it to be, its pretty slim, thank goodness). When Buy.com shipped it to my door I promptly hooked it up. The installation was pretty dern tootin' smooth. The only thing I screwed up with was I did not write down my WEP key and had to reset the router and log back in (via ethernet). I even hooked up the Belkin USB router to it and it was an absolute cake walk. I had a very random signal strength with the others, I am amazed at how this one performs (no signal drops or variance at all). I am now a true Belkin fan. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Belkin N1 Wireless Router Tuesday, January 22, 2008 Mike from Lindon, UT
I live in a multilevel home and previously had a Netgear wireless router. My son's room is several floors above where the router was located and his Xbox 360 is connected wirelessly. In addition, we had several other PC's connected via wired connections.
The Netgear got to a point where we needed to reset it almost every day and my son's Xbox would lock up constantly. Same with the wired PC's.
The Belkin N1 on the other hand has been rock solid the 2 weeks we've had it in place.
Setup was fairly straightforward as the CD walked me through the steps necessary to connect to our broadband provider (Comcast). Only thing I needed to do was completely disconnect the Comcast router (we have phone service via Comast as well) to get the internet connection working.
So far, this is a router I'd recommend to anyone with a multilevel house with signal issues. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Router Sunday, January 20, 2008 A Customer from Ocala, FL
This is my second Belkin router and I have been pleased with both. My first was a Pre-N router and it did well with solid speeds of 108mbps using the Belkin Pre-N adapters. When this N1 became available I finally purchased it and have consistantly gotten up to 300mbps using their N1 adapter. Be warned however that some older 801.11g adapters can not pick up the "N1" signal
(They did however pick up the "Pre-N" signal). Also, as with other brands of routers, to get the maximum mbps you usually need their matching network adapters. Sometimes other brands work but rarely. The only thing that disappointed me was that the range for the newer "N1" was not greater than the older Pre-N. The Pre-N (even though slower mbps) seemed to have a stronger
signal at a greater distance. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 The Best Router for Gaming (PS3) Friday, December 21, 2007 Shanny J from Huntsville, AL
I also heard lots of great things about this router. I decided to get it and I was not disapointed. The setup was easy (if you take the time to read). The best part about it is that I have not had one dropped wireless signal using the router. My PS3 now works as it should and all is good with the world! You wont be sorry. Get it today! 4 of 5 Good Performance! Easy to Install! Tuesday, October 23, 2007 Chuck from Missoula, MT
I've installed 50+ routers this year as part of my job and the Belkin N1 has better coverage than most and it's easy to set up. Also looks great.
I do with they would offer this router with a bridge mode (or just an N1 bridge product) for people who have larger homes or a guest house, etc. and don't want to have to deal with multiple networks. The Belkin signal booster frankly doesn't work very well in conjunction with the N1. Was this review helpful?

This router is great! Not only does the signal reach in the far corners of my house, but it is also a breeze to set up with Belkin's easy installation CD that is included. I have recommended this item to many friends, and they all are as satisfied as I am with this purchase.
Overall, this router is the best out there, bar-none. Was this review helpful?

The Belkin N1 was as good as others have described in reviews above. I found it quite easy to configure, and to secure for safe access. The machine has worked very reliably for several weeks and I could not be more pleased. The only quibbles are that the indicator lights are quite bright and I have to cover the lamps as they are distracting at night (the router is located in my bedroom), and the wall-wart power supply is a big one.
The diagnostic capabilities are excellent, so you can spot the source of signal outages at a glance. The range and reliability are fine, and I can highly recommend this WiFi router to others. Was this review helpful?

I bought this router due to the strong reviews it had already received on buy.com, and was not disappointed. I used it to replace an 802.11a home network, and the improvement was phenomenal.
Setup was straightforward with no issues (vs. an all night affair with multiple tech calls for the previous 11a network).
More importantly my wifes computer jumped from an avg of 30MB with "very low" signal strength and having to reboot the wireless router every 2-3 days, to "very good" with 300Mb of speed and never having to reboot the N1 router. Her computer is now just as fast as mine in web browsing (mine is wired vs. hers is wireless).
I should also add the LED style icons on the front of the box are great, and its very helpful compared to the 3 blinking lights our old wireless router had. During setup, I could easily see what items were connected and what was not as I reconfigured things to account for the new router. It makes any troubleshooting a breeze - the other day when our cable internet modem went down for a bit, it only took one glance at the router to see which aspect of the network was having a problem (vs. our old network, where if the web connection went down I would have to take a shotgun approach where I would end up rebooting the wireless router, the wired router, the computer and the modem itself to determine where the problem might be).
I've recommended this router to a number of friends - this is the wireless network you see in your minds eye when you think about what a wireless network should be like...blazing speed, robust performance, extreme reach and intuitive interface. Congrats to Belkin, they have made a lifelong customer out of me. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Router Monday, October 30, 2006 A Customer from Chicago, IL
This is one great router. The setup was the easiest I've ever encountered as it only to me about 15 minutes to get it up and running. It has been rock solid for a over a month. Range is excellent also. Would recommend in a heartbeat. Was this review helpful?

I am very satisfied with my new Belkin N1 Wireless Router! I have owned many wireless routers in the past 6 years, and this is by the far the best. I am very pleased with the range and in my one month with this router, I have not had to reboot it yet. That is much more than I can say for my last router. And with Belkins lifetime warranty, I know that I will always be able to return it if it fails. Was this review helpful?

I had recently purchased two of these routers, one for a small business and one for a neighbor I had set up. The N1 was so easy to set up and has been working flawlessly since. I had a Linksys SRX router at my home which kept dropping connection and to no avail could never get it to work correctly. I was so fed up with the Linksys I purchased another N1 for my home and within 5 minutes had everything switched out and working fine. I have had no issues at all and would highly recommend reviewing this router in depth and comparing it before puchasing any other. It's a BEST buy in my experience. Was this review helpful?
