4 of 5 A nice product, could be a little better. Wednesday, May 06, 2009 DB from Northfield, NH
Make sure you RTFM (Read The Freakin' Manual)! If you don't hook up the cables in the exact order specified it will not work! Only other quibble is that the cables are a it short... one seems to be only 18" long. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good switch for the Price Friday, January 23, 2009 kj from Dayton, OH
When I boot up my PC I do most my work on the KVM switch seems to default to the other PC. Easy fix should be to just switch the ports (haven't tried yet). Product works well and I'm pleased with it. Wish I had purchsed one that would let me hook my speakers up too. Maybe next time. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Belkin belts another winner Thursday, July 31, 2008 rotem from Hatboro PA
This product works flawlessly on first hookup, assuming you follow their directions on the order of hooking up cables. Compared to an older Belkin KVM model, this one is both convenient to use and reliable. To explain, the older switch had cables not only for USB connections but also integrated sound. The new one does not include the audio cables which is actually better. It means that you can still connect separately to your audio system using the individual cables for each computer. Therefore, in switching from one computer to another, you can actually continue with the audio input of one computer while using the second computer for computer-based activities other than sound. Second, the old Belkin switch would sometimes switch computers on its own, and you could not get back to the original computer setting. The new switch does not have that problem. Further it does not change monitor settings as the old one would do when switching. If on sale, this KVM switch is a steal. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 This Belkin switch is the best Wednesday, July 30, 2008 A Customer from MD
Easy to use, hide all the cables behind the desk, clean design, and good price. This product beats any IOGear which I bought and returned. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Good product but... Tuesday, May 27, 2008 A Customer from Gainesville, FL
I bought this KVM because I have two computers that I need to use and limited space for another monitor. I have a Logitech USB wireless desktop and both windows XP professional. I would have given it a five star rating if not for the seldom error "USB device not recognized" that I get when I toggle between computers.
In general, it fits what I need and for its price I would recommend it to anybody. Was this review helpful?

I have had this for a few weeks now, replacing an older KVM that did not support USB and that was losing the mouse control when I switched it to one of the PCs. Price after rebate was pretty competitive.

It has worked fine for me. There is the 5 secs or so switching delay, but I am pretty sure that is an artifact of the way USB connections work - it would be the same if you manually moved the cables, as the newly connected PC has to recognize that these devices are now connected. I have a much more expensive USB KVM box at work that supports 4 computers, and it takes the same 5 secs or so.

Plus, I put a 4 port USB hub between my mouse and one of the inputs to this switch, and connected not only the mouse but a printer. So I can now successfully switch the kbd, mouse and now also this printer between the PCs.

One caution: it is easy to plug in the remote and think it is all the way in when it is not - make sure you seat it corrctly, all the way in.

When I first received the unit the cooling fan was very noisy and basically sounded like a motorboat. The unit also dropped connectivity on long file copies.

I emailed tech support and they had me return the unit to them (at my expense much to my dismay). They replaced the cooling fan and updated the BIOS with a brand new release and the unit has been rock solid ever since.

The only negative with this unit is that it's a bit noisy. Overall I find this unit to be a solid performer. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Simple but has its flaws Wednesday, April 30, 2008 Adam from Richmond, VA
I bought this KVM switch so that I could easily switch between my home PC and my work laptop. I wasn't particularly fond of the fact that you can't switch between the 2 PC's by using a double scroll lock function (like in most KVM switches). Hitting the KVM flip switch can become cumbersome since its so small and not part of the KVM switch at all (meaning its detachable). However my BIGGEST pet peeve about this product is the latency between switching between machines. I timed it and it is a 10 second wait for responsiveness of the mouse and keyboard whenever you switch between PC's. For someone who works in the IT field, this is very unacceptable and annoying. Another odd feature about this KVM switch is that the output cables for both PC's are not equal length, one is about 6 ft whereas the other is 3 ft. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Decent USB KVM Wednesday, April 30, 2008 idw from Bethesda, MD
I bought this for my sister so she could use her USB keyboard and wireless mouse with both her desktop and laptop. I had to have both the desktop and laptop connected the first time to get it working (when I tried the desktop alone it didn't work). Works great now though.
The reason I gave it a 4 and not a full 5 is that her desktop has both DVI and VGA (DVI is digital so gives you a better quality picture), the KVM only supports VGA. Would be nice to have both on the KVM...still a great buy though! Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Poor customer service Wednesday, April 30, 2008 A Customer from Milton, NH
Out of the box the Flip did not work. The remote is defective, so the customer support tells me, however, after downloading the software from the website, I can use the hot keys to switch. Also, the flip seems to periodically loose the key board and mouse signal. It quickly reregisters, so I haven't had any down time (yet).
I might have written a better review had the customer support department been better at addressing and remedying this issue. Belkin gives me the sense that customer satification is only something they talk about.
Buy.com has been great. The device was delivered in a timely fashion with plenty of communication. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Pretty good Saturday, April 12, 2008 A Customer from omaha, ne
I've had this in place for about a year now- it works fine, albeit a LITTLE bit clunky. It's hard to understand if it's working or now with our projector; but, I'd have to say that for the money and the functionality I would buy another. It just took a little getting used to. It's never failed in the year I've had it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 I Should Have Read The Instructions... Thursday, April 10, 2008 A Customer from Cambridge, MA
I bought two of these and returned one of them, because I thought they were not fully functional. I couldn't get the wired remote to work. And the software which allows switching didn't always work. After reading one of the feedback, I realized I didn't plug in everything properly. Specifically, the USB connection to the computers happens LAST. Now it all works. There is still that 5 second delay, but it's still a great USB KVM! Was this review helpful?

This product works well and switches over quickly. Only negative is the cords are somewhat short, but then again I keep one of my computers in a closet and use extensions to reach my desk. Was this review helpful?

Great deal with the rebate. Works as advertised. In my case it takes about 5 seconds to switch between the 2 computers. When setting up the first time, make sure you follow the instructions or it may not work properly. Was this review helpful?

I bought this item to switch between my laptop and my home computer tower so that I didn't have to have two of everything on my desk. It has worked fine except that the switching time is greater than I expected. It's not instantaneous but about 5-7 seconds... this is a lot when you type as fast as I do.

Small footprint on the desktop and allows for a single usb keyboard and mouse to be shared easily between 2 workstations. VGA connector, works well. Wires do not get tangled. Recommended. Was this review helpful?

This is a handy switch for a desktop and a laptop, but it won't switch speaker outputs/inputs.
I goit the absolute best error ever trying to connect it:
Keyboard Failure - No Keyboard Detected
Press F1 to continue; Press F2 to Enter Setup.
DUH! Only on a Windows machine could you expect such foolishness.
After installing the drivers, it took two boots, but then my Dell started recognizing it. Was this review helpful?
