    3 of 5 Not as what I expected. Thursday, November 29, 2007
A Customer from New Orleans, Louisiana

Installation was easy! performance is another question. I bought this to replace my USR router only to function slower. I cannot even stream tv shows online. I am still using it though but only as an acces point. i still have my USR as my main router and the Belkin as my Access Point. It works ok now, but not as i expected.

5 of 5 Great performance router! Sunday, November 25, 2007
A Customer from San Antonio, Texas
I have been using this router for over two years now and it has been a great router. I have done tons of different configurations with it from dynamic to static IP addresses. I have also changed the many port forwarding options on it for VoIP, PSP, XBox, etc. The ease of use is outstanding and the range is amazing. I would recommend this to anyone.

2 of 5 Has promise but falls short Monday, April 30, 2007
    Vince from Mesquite, TX
I purchased this device (hardware revision 2) from Buy in September 2005. I have since moved on to a much more robust draft N router from Asus. As an AP, this device is competent. If you hope to use it as a full-blown router, it has many shortcomings (which vary depending on the hardware revision you get). QoS is poorly implemented in the later revision (VoIP? Forget it) and the router will choke with bandwidth maxed out on the earlier revision. Belkin's firmware engineers are virtually useless...as such I will be avoiding Belkin routers henceforward.

    3 of 5 Great - while it lasted Tuesday, March 27, 2007
    Robb from Portland, OR
Two years almost to the day. Blam, drops connection and needs to be rebooted. Contacted Comcast thinking it was the Modem. They replaced and again today get disconnects. Viewing the Signal on my PC it rolls up and down the scale, then disconnects. I purchased to replace a Linksys that had no range. Belkin can be seen eight houses down the block!! As I said, great while it lasted. Just ordered a Belkin N1 to replace. Love that range, not happy with only two years.

    5 of 5 Ole' Reliable Thursday, February 15, 2007
    A Customer from Oceanside, CA
I've been running this router since Sept 2005 and haven't had many troubles at all. Every once in a great while, I need to reboot the router, but it's not very frequent and hardly even a bother. As I recall, the settup was painless. The admin functions are simple, intuative, and easy to use. The range is fantastic! The signal is reliable and strong. I'm extremely satisfied!

    5 of 5 Quality router Monday, November 27, 2006
    A Customer from Chicago, IL
I've been very pleased with this router, especially the ease of use of the on-screen interface. The range is good (though I don't need much for it to cover my apartment) and the transmission is consistent. No complaints here. I probably overbought, not needing as high a performance product as this one, so I thought the price was a bit high, but I would definitely recommend the product.

5 of 5 THE wireless router to buy in my opinion Thursday, October 19, 2006
    Darren Hill from Bend Oregon
Let me start by telling you that I am a computer consultant. I have purchased quite a few of these routers from Buy.com. They are very easy to setup, automatically update their firmware, have incredible range...as in "down the street" range. After bringing mine as a demo onsite to customer locations, they are blown away by the range. I had a church that I got one for and they could get wireless signal at 36kbs from their office area to the far side of their main congregation area that was easily 200 yards away through multiple walls. Throw in the fact that it can be used as a wireless access point and you have an AWESOME product. Well done Belkin! I am impressed and I've been working with wireless routers since they were first introduced.

    5 of 5 increases range Wednesday, October 04, 2006
    A Customer from Knoxville, TN
The biggest reason I bought the belkin pre-n router was to try to increase the range inside my house. With my old b router, there were several rooms I couldn't get a signal. I'm now typing this on my screenporch, previously off limits. So... mission accomplished. (I had also bought the pre-n notebook card, and that wasn't enough... I needed the router too.) It was easy to set up... just install the software, unplug the cords from my old router, plug them into the new router, and I was good to go.

    5 of 5 Excellent Pre-N router w/great b & g compatibility Wednesday, September 13, 2006
A Customer from Villa Hills, KY
The router is totally awesome. I replaced a b/g router that was constantly being "jammed" by a neighbor several houses away with some kind of Pre-N router. I haven't skipped a beat since and it works well with my b & g laptops as well as with the Belkin Pre-N card (obviously). Everything is faster. Range is awesome. I can go down the street and connect back to my router. Great WPA security. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and can't beat the price.

4 of 5 Does increase range vs. single antenna Wednesday, September 13, 2006
    Jay Steiger from Victor, NY
I got atleast a 2x strength increase over my older Netgear WGR614 using just standard G. I have not had a chance to try it paired with a pre-N NIC. I do prefear the Netgear OS to the Belkin as far as emailing logs and managing client MACs. At the price it is what I would recommend to my friends and family.

    5 of 5 Great Range Friday, August 25, 2006
    A Customer from Dallas TX
Paired this with a pre-n notebook card. Maintains 108 Mps throughout the house. Works well with my internal G wireless, but much better with the pre-n card. Great buy, belkin support was also responsive when I had trouble configuring a VPN.

    5 of 5 Belkin Pre-N Router a WINNER Wednesday, August 23, 2006
    Steve S. from Seattle
The install is a breeze; just remember to turn on your security (it's off by default)and when you install the notebook cards, use XP's network connection utility instead of Belkin's--otherwise you won't be able to use the WPA capability of the card. I connected at 104 anyplace in my house, upstairs and down. Very high qulaity, better than the Lynksys G I had previously.

    5 of 5 WOW! Wednesday, August 23, 2006
A Customer from Baldwin, New York
I purchased Belkin wireless Pre-N router and Network card about five months ago. My Linksys wireless B router was not giving me the range I wanted (The next room). Talk about range, with my Belkin, my neighbors, five houses down the street can log on to my T1internet connection (with my permission) when their dial up crashed. Forget the India tech support. If the system malfunction (rarely) unplug power cord, wait a minute and plug in again. System will reboot and re-establish connection. This is the one to beat!

3 of 5 If you use SKYPE, be warned about this router Saturday, August 12, 2006
    1fishaholic from Barrington, Rhode Island
This router does not work well with SKYPE unless you do the following. The documentation does not say it nor the tech support helpful from Belkin, but you have to turn off the router firewall (it turns on automatically) and reboot the router from the router program screen. Check out the following thread http://forum.skype.com/viewtopic.php?t=60090&sid=329e05b60b8688e24b7e676ed52faaa6 It drove me NUTS for two weeks until I finally isolate the problem and trace the problem to the new router. I wish I have known or be warn by Belkin. Their tech support doesn't seem to know how to fix it. I found the fix on Google and the Skype Forum. Be warned. Otherwise it is working out well.

5 of 5 Recommend Belkin Wireless Pre-N Router Highly Saturday, July 22, 2006
    Tom from La Verne, CA
Even though the router cost more than some of the others, it is well worth it. The install was very easy using the wizard once my DSL provider resolved my connection. I generally received a strong connection throughout each room after adjusting and experimenting with the antenna direction. My hard wired connection has also greatly improved from my old Linksys ... no more drop outs! Just wanted to thank previous reviewers for their recommendations and to provide my affirmation to their recommendations.

    5 of 5 GREAT! Monday, July 03, 2006
    A Customer from Marion, Ohio
I have used this wireless router for nearly a year and have had no problems. I have never had to reset it. I have had meetings at my home or friends over and they never have any problems getting connected. Our house is big with a basement and two floors and there are no weak spots anywhere. With this you will need to protect your network because your neighbors will have plenty of signal strength and could steal your bandwidth.

5 of 5 Happy wireless family! Thursday, May 25, 2006
    A Customer from Cincinnati, OH
We are very happy with Belkin! Instructions were super easy to follow, and extremely easy to set up. The only advice I would give is that I was not aware at first that the security encryption for wireless was disabled by default. I learned that when I read the manual, it was not mentioned in the set up guide. However, it was relatively easy to go online and enable the security function. Access was superb on the second floor...no problems at all. Highly recommended!

5 of 5 Hands down the best on the market Friday, April 07, 2006

5 of 5 This is the one to buy! Thursday, February 16, 2006
    Tom from Loveland, Colorado
After frustrations that would take an hour to describe with a D-Link G router and Notebook adapter, I had to finally call it quits trying to make wireless work on my home system. After reading high rated reviews of the Belkin Pre N system I decided to try one more time and bought both the Belkin Pre N router and notebook adapter. I could not be happier! The Belkin Pre N router was so easy to install. I simply used the included install disk and followed the directions which were very clear and easy. Unlike my D-Link which had all kinds of i.p. address conflicts that the D-Link software refused to correct, my DSL modem was working flawlessly with the Belkin Pre N router in minutes. Also, my two computers were networked now with no compatibility problems as I had with the D-Link. I only had to refer to the Belkin router manual to set up the additional commands to allow WPA security as the default security settings were set to OFF. Make sure you secure your system! The bigger challenge I was expecting was the Belkin Pre N notebook adapter. My old D-Link adapter card refused to work well with my Sony Vaio notebook computer and often caused internal hardware conflicts resulting in computer lockups and crashes. The D-Link drivers just did not work well at all. Like the Belkin Pre N router above, my Belkin Pre N notebook adapter came with excellent instructions and an easy to use install program. Like the Pre N router, my Pre N adapter was working perfectly within minutes, and my Vaio notebook is happy with the drivers included with no more lockups and crashes! If I compare the Belkin Pre N system with the others like D-Link or Linksys types, there is no comparison. The high quality in the Belkin manuals, easy installation software, and performance put the Belkin way ahead of others. From my home, the range is incredible, so far ahead of the others I've tried. I'm seeing neighbors systems now I never saw before. I'm on a third of an acre lot and I can go anywhere on the property, in the basement or out in the driveway in our RV and get full strength signals with the Pre N system! I'm getting a solid 108mbs transfer with no delays or hesitations. In my opinion, don't waste your money on the other junk. Learn from my mistakes. You will be so much happier with this system! I was able to buy both the router and adapter at BUY.COM at a fantastic price too! I never write reviews but I had to with this system as I'm just too happy with it. This is the one you want to buy, hands down!

A Customer from Rancho Palos Verdes, California
Easy to use right out of the box, my Dell laptop with internal wirelass card connects anywhere on both stories of my house. The router is in a upstairs bedroom and I can connect in the downstairs kitchen and even the garage. Added my desktop and wife's laptop as well and still happy.

    5 of 5 best router i've used Thursday, December 29, 2005
    jp from huntsville, al
i bought this router about a year ago, and it is one of the easiest, and most stable pieces of equipment i've used. setup is really easy. i use it for various wireless servers due to the high bandwidth. the thing that i like most is that, unlike my other routers, i have only reset it twice in the last year. the only time i have to do that is for firmware updates.

    5 of 5 Amazing Wednesday, November 30, 2005
    drbob76 from Huntsville, AL
Installation took 10 minutes to be up, on internet and communicating with one wired and three wireless computers. Added remote printing with first try. Auto senses and clones MAC address so no calls to the ISP. Instructions very, very easy to follow. I replaced a less that one-year old competitor that is now in the trash can and I am extremely happy that I did this. The other brand cost me hours trying to do the things that happened in a few minutes with this system. The performance is superior and much easier to use. Buy.com has excellent and timely shipping and the best price I found.

This router is great. The install was so easy my grandmother could do it. Up and running in about 2 minutes using the install cd. Have full coverage in 2 story 2700sf house and outside too. Works well with my old Belkin 54g card and new Linksys WPC54GX w/srx.

This is one seriously powerful wireless router. It is PERFECT for people that have simple and complicated networks alike. The simpler your network is, the easier it is to install (naturally, right?). I got it all figured out and am up and running. It's the best wireless router I've ever used. GET ONE!

    Sid from Flint Hill, VA
This router has led me to purchase other Belkin products. Have had ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS with any aspect of this router or its performance. Easy hook up, simple to secure, and the range is SUPER! Couldn't get my previous router to the 2nd floor. Now my friend across the street can pick up the signal. There is no better router on the market as of today.

5 of 5 Wireless made easy! Monday, October 31, 2005
    Doug from New Berlin, WI
This unit is my second attempt at setting up a wireless network at home. The first was a Microsoft unit that I thought was going to be a no brainer installation, 3 hours later, still no signal, got help from a friend, installed more software finally it worked after 5 hours of total frustration only within 15 feet of the router.<p> The Belkin router is a whole different situation. I installed the software, plugged in the router and within minutes I had a wireless network that works with excellent reception from the center of my 2000 sq ft ranch to anywhere indoors and within 100 ft of the exterior of the house with good reception. I can also get an excellent signal anywhere in the basement. This unit made my Microsoft wireless router look obsolete and wireless computing fun! <p> The instruction booklet is very easy to use. After my install was complete I needed to secure my network. Often times instruction manuals will refer to technical support for this type of advice, the manual took me step by step on getting it done correctly the first time. <p> I couldn't be more pleased with the unit. It works like a wireless router should, it's easy to set up and since then, I haven't had any reason to fool with it. I also have cordless phones that work at 2.4 Ghz and experience no interference at all. <P> My advice to other novice wanna be wireless users, don't waste your time or money with anything else, this unit will do the job well and you won't be disappointed. Don't take it personally Microsoft, but stick to software, not hardware!

5 of 5 Wireless technology has arrived! Tuesday, October 18, 2005
    Larry from Westchester, NY
The Belkin Pre-N router is the real deal. After trying numerous upgrades to improve signal strength and reception in my home's wireless g network (signal boosters, antennas, etc.), I finally purchased the Pre-n router. Installation was very straightforward. Immediately, signal strength and reception improved on all 4 of the wireless computers in my home (running g cards). Most importantly, the laptop computer in my home office was now holding a strong signal with no degradation in speed during a two hour work session. Previously, I would drop to minimum speed or no connection during long periods on the computer. My home office was a real black hole for reception as it was directly behind a brick fireplace on the far end of my home. I can only surmise that the new smart antenna technology (MIMO) really works. The router worked so well, I bought the Pre-N laptop card in an attempt to get a full speed (108 Mbps) connection. It worked flawlessly! I cannot recommend this item highly enough. Anyone tired of varying speeds or signal strengths on their wireless network will love this router. Anyone combining the Pre-N router with a Pre-N card will not regret the upgrade expense.

4 of 5 Great range and speed but no WPA encryption! Tuesday, October 18, 2005
    Jeff from Plano, Texas
Got this router and the F5D8000 (F5D8010 card with bus card) for the desktop and the jump from 54mbps to 108mbps is breathtaking! Easy to setup within 30 minutes (both router and wireless card). It has plenty of security, HOWEVER, WPA encryption does not seem to work with this router and the F5D8010 PRe-N card!!! It will work with an alternate wireless NIC such as a Hawking Technologies HWL2 at 54mbps but not its own Pre-N card. I even tried the Pre-N card on a laptop and no go. Generally the router sees the NIC card and assigns the IP, but no internet connection! I was able to use 128-bit encryption instead. Called Belkin support on this and was told there is a new client softare in the works to address this. Otherwise, the range and speed with Pre-N is worth the purchase.

    5 of 5 Belkin Pre-N Router Scores an A+ Tuesday, October 11, 2005
A Customer from Staten Island, New York
I replaced an older Wireless-G router with the Belkin Pre-N Router. The range, speed and signal strength improved dramatically. The signal strength remains consistent through out the entire house. Installation was very easy!

    4 of 5 A definite improvement over wireless-G! Friday, September 30, 2005
A Customer from Panama City, FL
I've read all the great things about this Belkin Pre-N router, and I wanted to try it myself. I was having problems reacching the other side of my 2300 sqft home with my Linksys WRT54G wireless-G. I am now able to stay connected and work wirelessly, although no where near the product's boasted improved range and throughput. So I have just bought the matching Belkin Pre-N wireless notebook card. I will review that soon to see how much better performance the matching router and card give me.

5 of 5 Ditch the linksys and get the Belkin Pre N Friday, September 16, 2005
    Steve from Birmingham, AL
I had several of the Linksys G routers...they stink compared to the Pre N Belkin...better range..more features and lifetime warranty also...I will never buy another Linksys( linksys support stinks)..Awesome range...specially with the Belkin card, now I have coverage that the other routers could not cover...has automatically changing channels for the interference with 2.4 ghz phones...Buy one! You will love it...also..if you have kids..you can filter the internet..no more worries about having your 7 year old surf to the wrong place..Awesome

    5 of 5 Amazing performance Thursday, September 08, 2005
    Chuck from Orlando, FL
Very powerful wireless router. In a large house in down-town Charleston SC, the Belkin was the 5th router installed. The problem was the multi-level house & 5 other wireless networks within range (& cordless phones). The Pre-N Belkin replaced a Netgear WGT624 that had many dead spots even with a line of sight, B equipment was just a joke in this situation. When matched with the Belkin Pre-N PC card, there weren't any dead spots and had at least 100ft more range outside. Although cost the most, it solved all my wireless problems saving money by not wasting my time. Also easy to setup. I researched for months before buying, wish I just did it earlier to save the time and aggravation.

3 of 5 Does not work with DLink DWL cards Friday, August 26, 2005
    Andy G. from PA
With all the great reviews, I decided to get this router to replace my d-link 614+ (was having connection problems due to distance from loft to basement). The converage & strength increases on the Belkin are as advertised. However, I was dissapointed to to find out that I am unable to make my wireless network work with my existing d-link DWL-G630 and DWL-G510 80211.g cards. After 3 calls to Belkin support nothing seemed to help. I eventually got it to work with an old Actiontec 80211.b card that I had. It looks like I have to spend more money on new network cards now... that is something I did not want to do.

5 of 5 Excellent router - worth the price! Thursday, August 25, 2005
    wolverienstra from Oak Park, IL
Yes, this router is more expensive than many others in its class. But if you are, like me, fed up with what you have/had and need a router that will resolve your networking problems once and for all, this is the one, and it is WORTH EVERY PENNY. The skinny: Set up is embarassingly easy: pop in the CD; follow the instructions, which even novices should have no problem with. For geeks like me, the online configuration settings are also nicely laid out and easy to use (good for tweaking security or access settings for PCs & other devices). The speed is breathtaking. Reliable? Flawlessly so. Signal strength is awesome. The documentation is also good. Adding non-PC peripherals is easy, too. I put a USB adapter* on my TiVo DVR, networked it in a snap. Now i can download shows to my PCs so fast it makes me verklempt. (*-make sure it's one on TiVo's recommended list on their site!) The lesson: you DO get what you pay for. I am incredibly happy with my Belkin. And if you ever see this router on sale, you'd be a fool not to get one.

Extremely easy to set up. Even using non pre-N network cards the performance gain has been amazing. This is a terrific piece of equipment

5 of 5 Lives Up to the Hype Friday, July 01, 2005
    Brian from Miami, FL
I've owned the Belkin Pre-N for about 5 months now but was a bit skeptical of the marketing "hype" coming out of Belkin. I had another wireless router go dead and decided to take the plunge and see if this lived up to the hype. I can honestly say I underestimated the performance of it. The speed is simply amazing. On my old B router, I used to get 5.5 max and range was less that stellar. Now I get 108Mb/sec all over my house and I can even go deep into my back yard and get 72. For large file transfers I used to plug into the wired side but now I can pull whole ISO's in 5 minutes. Another cool thing is that it supports WPA with TKIP or AES so the link security is strong. The latest firmware also includes support for WPA with Radius.

5 of 5 Worth every penny! Wednesday, June 15, 2005
    Steve from Pleasanton, CA
I received the Belkin Pre N router very quickly from Buy.com. I simply installed the Wizard and I was up and running in a matter of minutes. I also purchased the Belkin Pre N wireless network cards for two other pc's in my home (5000 Sq Ft) and they are running at 108Mbps upstairs eith a "very good" signal where as before with my Lynksys wireless "B" I was running at 11Mbps with a poor signal.I highly recommend the Belkin Pre N router along with the Belkin Pre N network card. You won't be sorry. It's sooo fast!

    5 of 5 Best Decision!!! Saturday, May 28, 2005
A Customer from Toluca Lake, CA
So easy to install I was shocked! I replaced a complete system with this Belkin router and a different brand of modem. My desktop and my laptop were working in 5 minutes. The software is user-friendly not only for installation but for configuring security as well. I would never consider anything else but this brand. I highly recommend it to anyone considering changing their wireless system. Don't dump it...get this router. You will be pleased!!!

5 of 5 It really works! Wednesday, May 18, 2005
Jonathan C. from San Diego, CA
The Belkin Pre-N router is my third router. My first two are turtles compared to my Belkin. I always had range and throughput problems with the b and g routers. With my Belkin, I get the full 54 Mpbs and 'Excellent' in the whole house, upstairs and downstairs. Trust me, the Belkin really works if you want to get the most out of your existing b/g network.

5 of 5 This is the best router on the market Thursday, May 05, 2005
    A Customer from Miami, FL
I have a good size house (5000 sq ft) with solid 8" concrete walls throughout. This is the only router that I have found that can cover the entire house without the need for access points. I tried at least 5 other wireless routers (Belkin, Linksys, etc) before finding this one. Simply the best!

5 of 5 Speed and reception break through Saturday, April 30, 2005
    A Customer from Dunwoody, GA
Had a Linksys G network and had problems on the signal at my second desktop which wasn't very far from my router. I was getting very poor to good signal. Installed this router and now I am getting "excellent" all the time. I am still using my old network adapter on #2 computer. Thinking of going to the desktop card.... All I can say, is that my wife is happy now at my second computer

    5 of 5 Superb product Thursday, April 21, 2005
Ken van Wyk from Alexandria, VA
I've been running an older Linksys 802.11b device for some time, but wanted something a bit faster. The Belkin pre-N device is a worthy upgrade in both speed as well as security, with its WPA capabilities. My only gripe is that the AES encryption mode in WPA causes the link to be VERY slow, but when I stuck with the default encryption, it was fabulous. If, like me, you've been waiting for the right time to upgrade from a B device, this (IMHO) is it. Cheers, Ken
