| | | | High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is the future for HDTV, as it enables only one cable to deliver both high-definition video and multi-channel, digital audio to digital display devices such as DTVs, plasma displays, LCD TVs and projectors. HDMI also enables an all-digital connection between digital source devices, such as DVD players, DVD recorders, digital set-top boxes, D-VHS players and A/V receivers.
HDMI is a new digital interface that was specifically created for use on consumer AV products. It enables intelligent, two-way communication between digital source and digital display devices, which means you need only one remote control for your entire system. Furthermore, it will automatically find and set component compatibility and play music and movies in your system's optimum available formats. HDMI is backward compatible with DVI, with the only loss being the new features added by HDMI, such as the multi-channel, digital audio, and the benefits of two-way communication between devices.

I realize that these brands often are just stamping their name on a product manufactured for them elsewhere at some generic factory in China, but I doubt these are true Belkin licensed cables. The cables shipped to me did not have any Belkin name badging on the product or anywhere on the packaging .. and being a big Belkin buyer I know they usually put their name on their stuff somewhere. Still, the cables appear to be of good quality and work well. Was this review helpful?

This is a perfectly good, functional cable. Consumer Reports magazine once tested the really expensive branded cables against these "stock" cables, and found no difference whatsoever in the video or audio performance of the connected devices. For the price these cables are the best thing to happen to hdtv. The picture is much better, blacks are blacker,and the sound quality, especially if you have surround. If you thought you could do without this cable when you bought your HD tv you need to think again. Being "thrifty" (ie; cheap) I thought I could just use the regular cable wire or even some component wires. That worked ok, but when I saw the great price on this I thought it couldn't hurt to try. Given that it was under $10, this cable works brilliantly. No, it's not one of those higher end (aka more expensive) gold-plated cables; however, given that I do have one of those as well, I did a comparison. The picture and sound quality was essentially identical between my higher priced, gold-plated HDMI cable and this Belkin one when I used my PS3 to test them.
Had this Belkin cable been available to me about two years ago, I'd have bought up another 4 cables. The only drawback that I have is that, at least for me, 6' of cable isn't typically long enough. It would have been exponentially better (for me, anyway) if this cable was 10' long. But for most people, 6' is going to be either just enough or even overkill. Was this review helpful?

ok, so here's the deal, this cable was free, so you can't beat that right? also, this cable was pretty thick, had some good rigidity to it, good dongles, so it won't break or wear out if are using it on something that you plug and unplug often.
now for the part that not everyone knows, HDMI cables are all exactly the same inside, going out and buying monster cables or some really expensive cable is just throwing money away, it simply gets you a thicker plastic sheathing and that's about it. Don't ever spend more than about 10 bucks on a single HDMI cable. Was this review helpful?
