 Editor's Note
All five of the hilarious BEETHOVEN films are here in this special collection. Starring the famously deadpan Charles Grodin (MIDNIGHT RUN) as Mr. Newton, the films focus on the relationship between a suburban family and their enormous but beguiling St. Bernard named Beethoven. Previously a perfectly orderly family, Beethoven's antics add elements of chaos, and fun, into their lives. The five films also feature notable comic guest stars, including Julia Sweeney (TV's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE), Faith Ford (TV's MURPHY BROWN), and John Laroquette (TV's NIGHT COURT).

| | Professional Reviews | Chicago Sun-Times 5 of 10 [Beethoven] I am not a mind-reader, and so it is against my policy to suggest that various groups of people might like a given movie. I will violate my rule in order to say that if I were under the age of 14 and had not already seen all of those earlier animal movies, I might well have enjoyed Beethoven more. It's the kind of clever, innocuous family entertainment that's always in short supply. - Roger Ebert
