In some ways, this charger is more sophisticated and represents an even better value than the product's on-line description would indicate. The four Ni-MH AA batteries that come with this charger have an indicated capacity of 2300 mAh instead of the usual 1850 mAh from most such batteries on the shelves at big-box retailers. This extra power gives me noticeably faster recycle times with my digital camera. Aside from being much faster than other chargers that I've used, this one actually senses the condition of batteries and charges them appropriately instead of just using a simple timer that can cause overcharging. It also automatically senses whether the batteries are Ni-Cd or Ni-MH. This charger also has an automatic conditioning feature. When activated, with the push of a button, it will completely and properly discharge the batteries, then automatically recharge them to full power. Like most other AAA/AA battery chargers sold in the USA, this one should not be plugged into foreign 230V outlets without a voltage-reducing transformer. However this unit does have a handy 12V cigarette-lighter plug for charging batteries in a vehicle. Was this review helpful?
