Based on the book, Storm, investigative journalist Jutta Rabe's chilling true account of death, lies and cover-up. On September 28, 1994, just after midnight, the passenger ferry Estonia sank in the icy waters of the Baltic Sea, killing nearly 900 people. Journalist Julia Reuter (Greta Scacchi) travels to Estonia while working on a piece about the Russian arms trade, and narrowly misses boarding the ferry to Sweden that sank, killing 850 people. Julia knows that the ship was carrying weapons, and joins forces in an investigation with Erik Westermark (Jürgen Prochnow), a survivor of the shipwreck whose son is missing. Donald Sutherland co-stars as a high ranking and all-knowing Pentagon official.
