What if all babies are born knowing the secrets of the universe and with the ability to speak with each other? What adults hear as baby-talk is actually sophisticated conversation. But when babies reach two years old and begin to speak our language in full sentences, they cross over, forgetting their secret language and becoming one of us. In Baby Geniuses, Dr. Elena Kinder (Kathleen Turner, Romancing the Stone), is an intelligent, scheming and wildly ambitious woman. She heads BABY CO, the world's largest corporation that manufactures products for babies. However, what the public doesn't know is that she also funds a secret research lab, together with her partner in crime, Dr. Heap (Christopher Lloyd, Back to the Future), devoted solely to cracking the code to this special baby language which she is sure does exist. It will mean enormous profit and power if she is the first to do it. But when Sly, the best and brightest of these baby geniuses, escapes from the secret lab into the outside world, Drs. Kinder and Heap have to get him back before he blows the lid off their secret forever. Sly organizes the babies in the outside world to invade the secret lab in order to free the baby geniuses and bring down Dr. Kinder's evil empire.

"The antics recall Home Alone, Saturday Night Fever, The Three Stooges, The Great Escape..."  Bob Longino, Atlanta Journal Constitution
"Children will surely enjoy the... many high jinks."  Matt Kelsey, TNT's Rough Cut
"Baby Geniuses is kind of like 101 Dalmations with toddlers instead of puppies."  Andrew Johnson, TIME OUT
"It's a live-action Rugrats!"  Box Office Magazine

Editor's Note

When two doctors (Kathleen Turner and Christopher Lloyd) set out to dominate the world once they discover they can crack the code to a secret baby language, it is only two-year-old Sly and his twin brother Whit who can stop them. When their first attempt fails and Sly gets captured, Whit rallies a group of foster babies at the home for special children to rescue Sly and squash the doctor's evil plot. Goofy comedy will appeal to those with a taste for the unusual. Directed by Bob Clark (A CHRISTMAS STORY, PORKY'S.)

"...It's good clean fun..." 03/01/1999 p.43

Boxoffice Magazine 0 of 10
It is said that babies are born knowing the secrets of the universe. And it is this fact that has the head of the world's largest baby product manufacturer (Kathleen Turner) kidnapping infants and conducting experiments in the company's basement to decipher the incoherent gibberish that camouflages their dialect. Things get out of hand when one of the baby geniuses escapes, and must convince his friends to help him rescue the babies held captive in the laboratory. The antics that follow are cartoonish and silly at times, but it's good clean fun. This film goes a step beyond Look Who's Talking by having the babies' mouths morph to form words instead of using facial gestures to get implied meanings across. The use of stunt doubles to dance and perform martial arts adds a varied twist to this unusual nursery tale. With the recent popularity of baby-themed shows, this film has perfect timing. Younger patrons will be drawn into the fantasy, while the humor is sufficient to keep adults interested. - Dwayne E. Leslie

TNT's Rough Cut 0 of 10
...Baby Geniuses offers special effects like toddler's digitized mouth movements during their baby-speak and karate-chopping action, sure to create plenty of laughter for the more youth-oriented audience. The highlight of the movie... is its version of the dancing baby, made popular on TV's Ally McBeal. Dom DeLuise, Christopher Lloyd and Randy Travis provide menial supporting roles. The most alarming aspect is the film's mild use of potty-language, especially if toddlers are the primary audience. Children will surely enjoy the kids' many high jinks, but pass on this one if you're old enough to drive. Now, if only I could find a toddler to program my VCR at home.... - Matt Kelsey

4 of 5 The Kids will Love It! Monday, December 27, 1999
Keith from Dallas, TX

I'm surprised at the two Mr. Anonymous writers from Atlanta. Maybe they took a date to this movie. I have 3 kids, 4 to 8, that LOVED this movie. It had them rolling on the floor and laughing out loud. In fact, after renting it I'm now going to buy it beca

5 of 5 Baby Genious scores big! Sunday, November 28, 1999
jeffyb17 from Naperville, IL
The outcome far exceeded my exceptions of this family cinematic masterpeice that couldn't help but amuse one and all. I could not believe how smart these little kids could be, even though they are but toddlers. Foiling the evil plans of Kathleen Turner and well cast Christopher Lloyd was a plot twist I did not see coming. Highly recommended for young and old alike. Enjoy!

1 of 5 Beyond Stupidity Friday, August 13, 1999
Mr. Anonymous from Atlanta, GA
I challenge you to compare the worst movie you have ever seen to Baby Geniuses. I would bet a paycheck that nothing compares with this rot. It is sure to surpass anything you have seen for banality, insulting stupidity, and complete and unmitigated mindlessness. When the funniest scene is watching insufferable Dom Deluise pick his nose at the behest of our 'Baby Geniuses', you know you're in trouble. Forget it. Buy your children something else. Or, you can waste your hard-earned dollars on this complete trash of a movie. It gets a 1 because 0 is not an option on this site.
