I'm having nothing but problems with this product. The software constantly freezes or crashes. To make matters worse, it also causes my whole laptop to freeze. When I try to scan for channels, my laptop freezes. I updated the drivers and software and the problem still persists. When it works, the reception is poor, even though I'm located in an area of strong signals. This product just doesn't work. I don't know what to do. Was this review helpful?

I'm having nothing but problems with this product. The software, AVer MediaCenter, frequently crashes or freezes. To make matters worse, it also causes my whole laptop to freeze. When I scan for channels, my laptop freezes. I tried everything from reinstalling the latest drivers and software with no success. When it works, the reception is poor, even though I'm located in the city where the signals are strong. This product just doesn't work. I don't know what to do. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Upgrade Wednesday, March 18, 2009 Doug from Minneapolis, MN
I'm using this on my 3 year old Dell 1505 laptop with XP Media center addition and it works great. The laptop came with an analog tuner that had to be plugged into a USB port. This works much better and sets up easily. I can record HDTV broadcasts when programed and left in standby mode. I have only tried the AverMedia Center at this time, but it can be used with other Media Centers. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great alternative Saturday, January 03, 2009 A Customer from Bentonville, AR
Bought this for a daughter in college who didn't have room in her dorm for a TV (or the funds to buy one). Now all she has to do is insert the card and attach her TV cable and she has television on her screen she can watch while doing school work! It works great and was very simple for her to set up. This is my 2nd TV Tuner card and it works GREAT. Its fast, it displays clear picture and channel changing is fast enough.
I want to warn some people here who are using HP Pavilion DV 9XXX series notebook and want to buy this card. This card DOES NOT lock in properly for DV 9XXX notebooks. You can still view/record tv channels but once you try to unplug the cable the card comes out with it. I tried to push it in different ways but no luck. I am returning this now.
Hope this saves you the effort. Was this review helpful?
