4 of 5 works Tuesday, March 10, 2009 ghostfear from el monte, ca
This thing works fine, but the recording should have better coder, it sometimes records choppy. Shows like Chuck records choppy. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent tuner Monday, March 09, 2009 Dan from Boston, MA
I have two of these. No frills tuner, but works great, good value. OTA HD FTW! Avermedia released a new driver that supported vista x64. Fantastic. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 good basic usb tuner Wednesday, January 14, 2009 A Customer from oakland,ca
Just use it for free digital signal with table top antenna.
On stations that it can receive, it is better than Artec 14a (hold the signal better). On more distance stations, it fell off the cliff (worse than the Artec). The driver is OK and stable. The TV software AVerTV6 is bad. The recording does not record sound (incompatible with my soundcard). So get yourself Totalmedia3 or Watchhdtv and you're fine. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 So much better than the first time Saturday, January 03, 2009 A Customer from Mpls, MN
My first Aver product was a 180MCE card that I still use. VISTA (sucks) was still fairly new and the Aver software wasn't ready for it. TO Aver's credit they admitted it up front and said use VISTA's media Center (MCE). I did and have been using the 180MCE card for a couple of years. Decided to try this as a third tuner (three don't work for VISTA MCE without some tweaking) as my Hauppauge 950 was adequate but suffered from similar software issues. The software included with the Aver Volar was the expected nightmare but a phone call (yes, they actually have useful phone support) pointed me to a working version that is a viable alternative to MCE. Also nice if you want a couple of channels going at the same time. Someday MCE might offer PIP with multiple tuners but I'm not holding my breath. I have some HDTV reception challenges in my area but both the Aver and Hauppauge products get the job done (with an adequate outdoor antenna and amp) Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Work very well, depend on location Wednesday, September 24, 2008 Tim from Louisville, CO
The product works very well, it receives all but 1 channel that
I normally received. When I move my laptop to other locations,
the reception can be good and bad, it depends on the TV signals
in the location. Was this review helpful?

You might need a better TV Antenna in order to watch more channels Was this review helpful?
