1 of 5 Save your money for a more reliable brand. Friday, June 01, 2007 A Customer from PA
Very unreliable, freezes up on a regular basis. When it is working it is much more difficult to use than a Magellan or Garmin. Save you money and buy a reliable brand. Was this review helpful?

I have been using the Averatec Voya 350 for more than 2 months. Here is my opinion of the product:
PRO's:
Accurately finds the current location and has good reception of GPS signals.
Calculates Route's and re-routes (if you made a mistake) quickly.
Loud Voice Prompts and turn by turn directions.
Easy to learn and decent touch screen user interface.
Light weight.
Contains maps of US and Canada.
Not very expensive and they give the mount, car adapter and home adapter.
CON's:
The system would freeze often which requires a reboot. The bad part is you loose all your information like recent routes, home address and everything. I does NOT save the user information in a permanent memory.
The system would hang for certain addresses and reboot itself losing all the information.
Like all GPS systems, may not cover all places.
OVERALL:
This is a decent GPS for the price to get from point A (wherever you are) to point B or get to the destination if you are lost and know where you are currently. I haven't used multi destination routing. If you are in the middle of a long (like a 6 hour journey) trip, don't be surprised if it freezes and you need to reboot the GPS, again input your destination and make it calculate the route.

I have only used the Voya 350 for about two weeks. I am very impressed with its accuracy. We are talking about purchasing a Voya 350 for someone as a gift. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best for the buck! Friday, September 22, 2006 msabul from Rochester, NY
The Averatec Voya 350 is a bargain! I own a Garmin Quest, also a good product, but for virtually the same price the Voya 350 is my daily choice if for no other reason than all maps and details come preloaded on a one gig removable SD card. The unit has almost instant re-routing if you miss a turn and is considerably more accurate than my Garmin. The screen is large, full of user friendly information that you don't have to 'study' while trying to drive. Reasonable patience with the unit, reveals a host of hidden features and shortcuts. It syncs with satellites very quickly and once locked in doesn't fuss when the unit is moved. Even the window suction mount is solid and works well! Regardless of what else you read, it is not just a 'basic' GPS; it has all the stuff you buy a GPS for unless you are looking for more entertainment. Was this review helpful?

I have used GPS units on the water for years but this is my first unit for land application. It was very easy to set up and the interface is very intuitive. The only negatives I have seen in the first several weeks of extensive use is that I have lost my favorites and home settings a couple of times and when you are in a parking lot etc. it tells you to go to the nearest road before it will give you any directional help. At times this has been a hinderance when I was in the wrong turn lane. All in all though I am very pleased with the unit and think the price is awesome. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 It does the job Tuesday, September 19, 2006 A Customer from Wilmington, DE
This is a lightweight, simple GPS navigation product. I have a few concerns that probably reflect the low price. Documentation out of the box was sparce. I had visited the Averatec's website prior to purchasing and found the manual.
The unit has many navigation features to allow you to customize the route the device calculates. Route calculation at times seems to freeze the unit. That may have been due to lack of GPS signal at the time. I have noticed that when you deviate from the route, the unit's most common correction is to turn around. I have seen other GPS nav's re-calculate directions based on your heading. So I am not certain if this is a misuse on my part.
The interface is quick and simple, although you are only able to scroll around the map with the stylus. There is a directional knob on the device but I have been unsuccessful in using it to make the map scroll around. To scroll the map with the stylus to do the same task, it is difficult to know what and where to pres s and drag. Many times it appears as if the unit can't interpret the input propery so the screen just shakes and then returns to the previous map. Other times it picks a 'point of interest'.
The unit defaults to somewhere in the middle of the USA instead of waiting until it receives a few GPS satelite signals.
Searching for destinations is a simple State to City to Street search.
Don't misinterpret my comments, I like this device. Although I think the user interface could use some 'fine tuning.' Was this review helpful?

I've owned it for two week and it has worked wonders for me. I travel alot to different states for business, and many times I rent a car to drive to my locations. Nowadays, GPS units are installed on these rental cars, but not always. So I take this with me and it has proven useful when I needed it.
Very easy to use and the volume is loud enough to hear over the music. It was a great buy for me. Was this review helpful?

I have owned an Averatec notebook in the past for school and I have been quite impressed with the how the laptop performed (and is continually performing) for such a good price.
So I decided to try Averatec's Voya 350 GPS to see how it compared to my dad's Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS. The Garmin does have slightly more feature (MP3 player capable, photo viewer) but all that was unnecessary for me since I was just looking for a navigation tool. I have to admit, the Voya 350 does what it is supposed to do (and does it as good as the higher end Garmin!) The Averatec GPS is slighly bigger, but it is small enough to carry around with you. It is also one of the few GPS units out there that has a rechargeable lithium battery which allows it to be portable or can be used in the car (comes with a personal AC charger and a car charger).
I am happy with my Voya 350.
The only thing that personally bugs me about all GPS is that they do not have road maps for private areas, such as community gated homes or apartments, or shopping plazas. I guess that will come in the future devices.
