I may have been able to get by with the stock antenna if I could have set up the receiver in a better room but I digress.
The installation went well althought I wish the wire was a few feet longer as it was just long enough with no room for error when the installation was complete. I'm happy to report I now have full signal strength 99% of the time thanks to the SIR-6. The lowest the signal strength goes is 2/3 (for a second or two), and doesn't seem to be affected much by the weather. I forsee no durability issues as the outside connection and antenna appear water tight. Also the antenna is mostly plastic and the mounting hardware is of decent quality (the whole unit should last many many years). I highly recommend this product!
