1 of 5 Interference with other 900 mhz equipment Thursday, May 29, 2008 drobertson from De Witt Iowa
can anyone tell me what frequencies the AW-871 uses. I have wireless internet using 911.6. my speakers kill my internet service. If I disable the wireless speakers my internet works fine. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good solid choice Sunday, March 02, 2008 A Customer from Trumbull, CT
Make sure when you connect the transmitter you push the power cord in until it clicks. I thought I had the power cord pushed in all the way and still could not get the blue light on the transmitter to light up. I thought it was the connection to my stereo but after several attemps realized the power cord wasn't in all the way.The signal lock in feature is nice and the fullness of the sound better than my previous RCA wireless. 5 of 5 Great Little Speakers Saturday, December 01, 2007 James S Mattson from Key Largo, Florida
Easy to set up; easy to use; just what the doctor ordered. I like to listen to music throughout my solo law office, sometimes just to have "company." I have several computers that play streamed music, but they're always out-of-synch. So I decided to try wireless speakers run from a stereo receiver. These speakers seemed to get the best reviews on the internet, and they are really well-priced. As usual, the Buy.com package arrived in about 2 days, and I had the speakers up and running in 10 minutes. They are excellent, at least for my limited purpose of bringing synchronous music to my office. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good speakers at a great price Monday, September 24, 2007 A Customer from Princeton Jct, NJ
As advertised. They are a bit bassy for the audiophile, but the flexibility of placing them anywhere is awesome at this price you can't go wrong. Would recommend. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works Great with Rechargeable Batteries Saturday, July 14, 2007 A Customer from Midland, MI
I agree with the other reviews posted here. There is a slight hum with these speakers, but it's barely noticeable. I bought rechargeable batteries for my speakers and have been pleased with how they work. The batteries last for hours, so if I want to have music when friends visit, I can set the speakers up and let them play all evening. I've played them for as long as 8 hours, and they were still going strong. Overall, these speakers are a great value. They were exactly what I wanted: inexpensive wireless speakers that I can use anywhere. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 One speaker works Friday, June 15, 2007 A Customer from co
One speaker works perfectly, the other one does not. I have even tried the speaker which is not working in the same room as the source, and it won't get a signal. When I first removed them from the box, they both worked for a few minutes. I haven't had time to troubleshoot. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Useful utility speakers. Tuesday, June 05, 2007 Lynn Schissler from Longmont Colorado
The AR AW871 wireless speaker set is in my home shop repeating the sound from my home theater setup (satellite TV and megachangers loaded with CD's, etc.). The sound quality is OK (somewhat boomy and slightly muffled), but not suitable for critical music listening. The transmitter unit is intended to remain powered-on (no power switch), and has 3 selectable frequencies to avoid interference with other 900mhz equipment, and has an adjustable gain(set properly when its LED indicator flickers with line-level stereo input). Includes necessary cables for both RCA and 3.5mm TRS connections.
The speakers are individually powered by large plug-in power units(so large that the only way to plug them both into the same duplex receptical is to let one hang down while the other "hangs" upward...the prongs are non-polarized and can be plugged either way). The speakers auto-tune to whichever freq. the transmitter is using, but tuning is touchy, sometimes requiring repeated taps on the power-on/volume buttons before they lock onto the proper freq. Each speaker has selectable Left/Right/Mono(Mono for when speakers are in separate locations). Tried using one outdoors about 100ft from transmitter (thru 2 walls and a floor)and found freq-lock spotty beyond 100ft. Usefull, but only attractive when heavily discounted. Was this review helpful?

Whrn it arrived, I was VERY pleased with the performance of the speakers. Also, the price was RIGHT. Was this review helpful?
3 of 3 customers found this review helpful. 4 of 5 Works great - sound quality is good - slight hum Tuesday, January 09, 2007 A Customer from Ashburn, VA
The speakers and their cables and AC adapters were well packed and clearly labelled so I knew exactly which adapter went with which part.
There are 3 main components to the system. The transmitter, and 2 speakers. Each requires an AC adapter (included). The speakers can optionally run off of batteries (I haven't tried this though).
I installed these in a bedroom - which already had a 2.4Ghz telephone, and TIVO connected to an 802.11b WiFi adapter. There was no conflict between all 3 products. However, when the house is very quiet, we can hear a very slight humming-sound coming from the speakers.
Sound quality is excellent.
My only two complaints -- the slight humming sound, and I wish the speakers could turn themselves off automatically. Each speaker must be turned on in order to receive the audio signal. Once on - they have blue light which remains lit. In the dark, the blue light becomes annoying - and in order to turn each speaker-off you must hold the on/off button for about 2 seconds. It should have included a feature to turn themselves off automatically after a specified number of numbers if no audio signal is received. Was this review helpful?

These speakers are perfect for an add-on to your existing system. I've had no problem obtaining a signal when placing them anywhere in our house. Currently the speakers are on the main floor and the stereo with transmitter is in the basement. Sound quality is acceptable for my needs, perhaps not for those who are audio purists. Much better than running wires and you can move them wherever you want to! Was this review helpful?
