5 of 5 Pretty Good Friday, October 16, 2009 A Customer from Northford, CT
I live in rural Northford, CT. This picks up almost all local HD channels. I get NBC, Fox, CBS, My 9, CW, all from the same postion. It picks up other channels that i have no use for such as universion and some other spanish channels. I had ABC as well but lost it. It took a while to set up and find the best location for the antenna. Be advised the antenna is pretty big and needs room around it. It doesnt work very well if it is set up right next to the tv or a computer etc. If you are using a receiever also (in my case Directv) make sure you shut it off when you are using the antenna because it interfiers with the antenna. When i turned the amplifier on and the directv off it work great. P.S. I live about 20-30 miles from most towers. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Easy and effective! Wednesday, May 06, 2009 A Customer from Merrillville, IN
I did a little bit of research before purchasing this antenna. We had a Radio Shack antenna before, and while the image was great, the reception would go out from time to time and you'd have to go adjust the (giant) rabbit ears.
We can keep the rabbit ears only half-extended and still get perfect non-stuttering HD reception. We're very impressed and I'm glad the research that led me to this product paid off!
Now I just have to wait for Channel 2 to change to a higher frequency in June so we can pick it up as well. Was this review helpful?

This antenna works better than any other
indoor one I've tried. It pulls in most
of the stations around here pretty well.
I'm satisfied with the purchase.

We recently moved to a rural area, and were having problems receiving a digital signal from any of our "local" stations. We tried 4 or 5 indoor antennas before purchasing our first Terk amplified antenna, and all of those were returned asap. While the Terk has its own set of issues, I can honestly say it does work--most of the time (we have noticed bad weather can play havoc with digital reception). But again, the Terk does have issues, namely its awkward, side-heavy design which causes it to fall over way too often. As a result, the first one we purchased has already suffered a partial loss of one rabbit ear. The ear was bent during one of its falls and when I attempted to straightened it back out, the tip broke off in my hand. Sadly, this was one we bought before discovering buy.com, and we paid twice the price for it. So, buyer be forewarned. Was this review helpful?

I thought that this indoor antenna would be like all the others I have ever owned... crapy. I did some research and found this particular antenna from Buy.com to be a good deal although I was still skeptical. Once I got it and hooked it up I was impressed. I had to play with it a little but once everything was adjusted, it was perfect. For me the trick was to place the antenna in the slot vertically instead of leaving it at the horizontal position which is what the pictures of the product show. Doing this gave me consistent crystal clear reception in stunning high definition. What really impressed me is the fact that I live 50+ miles away from any broadcast towers which are located in El Paso, TX. On top of that I have many structures and trees that I thought would block the reception. Now I can cut the cable and get free high definition!! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good product! Friday, January 30, 2009 zx from Princeton, NJ
This works great for local tv stations. I got 2 HD channels and several other stations. It just can not offer very clear pictures from Phili., which is 35miles away. But overall it's a good product and I recommend it. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Not bad Saturday, January 17, 2009 Ping Ping from ATL, GA
This is my 2nd HDTV antenna. The first was the HDTVlp - Amplified Low Profile Indoor HDTV Antenna from Terk also. I live about 40 miles from the nearest national station. I could get about 7 stations with the HDTVlp. That went up to 13 now. Still the incoming signal is weak on some station at times. I have also found that the ATSC turner in my JVC is not as sensitive as my Channel Master converter box. So, YMMV (your mileage may vary) depending on your turner, the distant, the weather conditions and objects around you. Overall I'm pleased with the HDTVA. Yes, the base is not the best but shouldn't be too much of a problem. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Antenna for Digital Reception Saturday, January 03, 2009 Tim_Dawg from Albany, GA
When I purchased an HDTV in Feb. 2008, I have been searching for a reliable antenna to receive digital signals. I live in a rural area in SW GA (pure country!) and it is difficult to receive any kind of signal. I saw this ad from Buy.com about this AudioVox antenna and for the price, decided to give it a try. Let me tell you, it has been the best deal and I have recommended it to all my friends! I get DTV channels from cities over 50 miles away! Until digital signals rule in Feb. '09, it also receives great analog signals. For those of you with DirectTV with no local channels, this antenna is for you! Very impressed with the quality of signal!Great Value!!! Don't forget to aim it in the direction of the signal (antennaweb.org). Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good product for the price Saturday, December 27, 2008 A Customer from San Leandro, CA
Depends on the location of your house, weather condition, interference, everyone is going to have different reception over the air. But generally, this product is great considering its price.
Also, the direction that you face the antenna MATTERS!!! Switch around to see which direction has the best reception. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Perfectly Satisfied Friday, December 26, 2008 A Customer from Fayetteville, Arkansas
We found no problems and are very satisfied with the quality and cost of the antenna. We are surrounded by hills and tall trees. The antenna solved our reception problem. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 This one actually works. Sunday, December 07, 2008 A Customer from Madison, WI
This was my "last resort" indoor antenna. I am in a metropolitan area but there are various obstructions. I tried both Radio Shack powered indoor antennas and it was frustrating; I had to constantly make adjustments, and stations would cut in and out. This one is working well. The only adjustment I have to make is to turn it about 45 degrees when I watch the local Fox station. This is much better than having to get a second dish, which Dish Network would require for local channels in HD. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Pleasantly Surprised - Eliminated Multipath Issues Thursday, November 13, 2008 Natasha from Manhattan, New York
I got this prouct about 1.5 months ago and has been working great for me. I live in less than 2 miles of a transmision tower but am surrounded by many tall buildings. The biggest problem with my two previous OTA antennas was not the signal strength but the multipath issue that gives terrible pixelation on television. But with this one, I no longer get pixelation that stays on television. I still get a mild degree of pixelation when planes / helis fly right above my building, but that is temporary and still better than what I used to get without a plane over my head! The antenna is also small and VERY light, easy to assemble and disassemble, and I can take it with me along with my laptop (with a USB TV tuner) when I travel and watch HDTV anywhere. JUST WHAT I NEEDED! I haven't found any con for this product. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Needs to be more stable Monday, October 20, 2008 Darryl from Elkton, MD
I agree with the other reviewers on the stability issue. The rabbit ears make it quite difficult to get it to sit still without having one of them propped against a wall. Otherwise, the reception is great. I am about 40 miles south of Philadelphia and am able to pick up all of the major network broadcasts in HD. (Luckily my living room window faces north) I can't even tell there is a signal there on the analog side. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Unstable balance, but great picture. Thursday, October 16, 2008 Addison from Grand Rapids, MI
I bought this item a few weeks ago and it's absolutely great. I bought it for my dorm room at college and it picks up every major network, and about 20 other local and religious channels.
As for HD, I get NBC, ABC, and FOX, but not CBS. However, I wouldn't blame the antenna given the nearest CBS station is twice as far away than any of the other stations where I'm from. The analog channel still comes in, but it's a bit fuzzy.
The only REAL problem with this product for me is that the coaxial cable (which is non detachable) comes straight out of the bottom of the base. There is a groove cut in it for the cord to run through on the side, but it doesn't always help. Make sure that wherever you to plan to keep this is stable and level.
Other than that, this antenna does a great job. I saw this thing at Best Buy for $75 bucks, so this is a great value for sure. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Works about the same as other amplified indoor ant Saturday, August 09, 2008 iwampfler from Rockford, IL
PROS: This antenna seems to be of high quality. It is quite directional, which is fine for me because all local stations are in the same direction. It has a longer output cable that my other amplified indoor antenna and has a screw-on connector on the end of the output cable.
CONS: The amplifier does not have a gain control. Because of the way that the cable exits the base, it is difficult to get the antenna to stand up. Did not perform any better than my other amplified indoor antenna. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good Product But Not Required Tuesday, July 29, 2008 A Customer from Sammamish, WA
I made the mistake of taking the advise of a couple of supposed DTV technical Web sites at face value. Each said if you were planning to acquire a DTV signal over the air, instead of cable or satellite, one thing you would need to purchase is a digital antenna designed for DTV signals. This product does a good job of bringing in the available signals, but is absolutly not needed if you already have an old set of "rabbit ears" that include an UHF antenna. The UHF portion, in most areas, is all you need to pickup the digital signal. In some locations like here there are stations, our PBS, that transmit a VHF digital signal. Another possible got ya is that many of the stations, at least in the Seattle area are doing a very poor job with over the air signal transmission. With this product I picked up 10 DTV stations. Not of one of them are considered a major network, e.g. CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, PBS, etc. No problem with their analog signal using this product but zero signal strenght for the DTV signal. I obtained exactly the same results connecting the antenna to a LCD TV with a digital signal receiver built in, or with a digital to analog signal converter connected to an older analog TV. 5 of 5 Well Built - gets the distant stations Friday, May 09, 2008 Richard from Bellevue, WA (east of Seattle)
We have one digital TV station that is hard to get with my other powered antenna. So I picked up this one for the directional ability. I found the "sweet spot" and the signal from Ch13 (SEA) is great. This is a popular design of antenna and I've seen other similar models sold. But this one is solid and the metal blades are not flimsey. I'd buy it again.

5 of 5 Nice product Saturday, April 26, 2008 Sonny from Pittsburgh, PA.
Works great. It's nice to finally get something for free (HD signal). The only thing I don't like about it is that it is huge and "kind of" stands out. We placed it behind the TV to hide it. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Amazing Antenna Wednesday, April 02, 2008 A Customer from Oak Park, IL
I was amazed when I hooked up this antenna to my new HD TV. I was able to get all the HD versions of the regular stations in the Chicagoland area. I wasn't able to get CBS at all before. Now I get it in HD, just in time for March Madness. I would definitely recommend this antenna. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 works perfectly! Saturday, March 29, 2008 sue from stoughton, wi
once i looked up the direction to face the unit, it performed beautifully! the ONLY issue i have with it is its design... the base is unstable, seems to me it needs to be wider. outside of that, it pulled in stations i did not know existed! thinking about buying another one... 1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 3 of 5 No antenna is suitable if you live down a hill tha Friday, March 14, 2008 A Customer from Waltham MA
It is difficult to give a fair review since I cannot compare it to another product since I moved house.
I moved to a suburb, 10 miles from Boston. My house is halfway down a hill. The Terk antenna could not easily pull in signals. I had to place it near a window, in a direction facing up hill. By doing this I could pull in signals but certain channels proved very difficult ie occasional picture loss. All I can say is if I switched off the power, then the antenna picked up no channels.
I used to live in Minneapolis, on top of a hill and could pull HD signals easily with a simple rabbit ear (non powered) antenna.
If you live in an area that has a hill obstructing the TV station s signals then no antenna will bring a signal in.
One real negative point is I managed to cut my hand when swapping the antenna blades 90 degrees.

5 of 5 Works Great Saturday, March 08, 2008 A Customer from Houston, TX
This item works perfect and has a nice feature of combining the analog and digital ...
the only flaw that I see is the design. The antenna metal part sits horizontally, which takes a bit of space. I've seen other models that has this part connect vertically and makes it really thin (set it behind a plasma). Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Monday, January 28, 2008 EMW from Milwaukee, WI
Get this antenna if you have HD. It is fantastic. I've used 2 other antennas and none got a signal anywhere near as strong as this once. Don't be fooled by the dB output. The design of this unit ensures a strong signal. All of my local channels are 20% stronger with this Terk model and the RCA nonsense some bigbox is pushing. It's plug and play, too. For the price, I would get this unit every time! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very Pleased Monday, January 21, 2008 A Customer from Sherwood, AR
Off air HD reception was marginal at best with antenna purchased at Wal-Mart. Went online to Buy.com and read the reviews on the TERK HDTVa antenna and decided to try it. Plugged it in and was amazed. Our reception went from sometimes getting a picture to a perfect picture. Have been using for a few weeks now and have never had any trouble. Great product. 5 of 5 HDTV Programs via Antenna! Thursday, November 29, 2007 Dr. Mark from Brookly, NY
I purchased the Terk Antenna and I am extremely pleased with the quality of the high definition picture that it pulls in off the air. It is connected to a 32 inch Vizio HDTV in my office and the quality of the picture is absolutely great. I pull in all of the major TV channels. The picture quality can easily be adjusted by positioning the antenna. My patients don't want to leave the waiting room when I call them because they enjoy watching the TV programming! Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 customers found this review helpful. 2 of 5 Careful! Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from Seattle WA
I tried this antenna by buying it at a local electronics store near me to see the performance in my place of residence. Some people had mixed reviews but once I hooked it up and found the sweet spot it was fine. HOWEVER, I decided to return it at that local electronics store to buy the exact model at Buy.com for a better price. Once I hooked up the one I bought from Buy.com I noticed signal dropped and viewing got horrible with it. So basically I say this, if you're willing to get a unit for $60+ somewhere near you where returning is free appose to buying it online for half that price but paying for shipping to return to Buy.com, somethings got to give. Pay more and return easier or pay less and pay for shipping to return. It's up to you. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Terk HDTVa Indoor Antenna Friday, November 23, 2007 REH from Melbourne FL
In one word - awesome!
I had first purchased an indoor antenna at Radio Shack and the sales associate said getting HDTV was a hit or miss. Well that antenna was a miss. But I did some reseach and purchased the Terk directional HDTVa Indoor antenna. What a difference! I get most all the Orlando channels including any HD channels without any problem. Some stations come in at 1080i, but most are at 720p. Please give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Was this review helpful?

Currently I am attending North Park University in Chicago. I live in an apartment and seeing as I am paying for college cable is not part of my budget. Before this semester I purchased the Terk antenna and since have been amazed by the performance. I get all the main channels crystal clear and I could not be happier. The only down fall: Sometimes depending on the weather the channels will flicker because the signal is not storng but it is hardly enough to say that this product is anything but great!
