I have been using on of these antennas since the year 1997. And its a great antenna to use to acomplish AM DXing in the shortwave radio hobby. Sometimes I wish Terk would come out with a long wave version for LW DXers. Still this antenna will pull in signals that you radio can only pick up so much. It also works great in the AM X Bands 1610 kHz to 1710 kHz where the pirate and part 15 radio stations reside and the AM L Bands 510 kHz to 800 kHz that part 15 and big broadcasters reside. This antenna would be a great gift for some winter sports fan who needs a boost in reception or summer baseball season fan. Its also great for to improve reception over the antenna that had come with the stereo. Was this review helpful?

Don't expect miracles but this antenna really works. I've used it to increase the signal strength of weak stations and decrease noise made by applliances in my house (light dimmer, air ionizer, and other).
The instructions are adequate but if the antenna isn't helping to resolve your reception problem then keep experimenting. Try the antenna at right angles to each side of your radio. If that doesn't work try placing the antenna parrallel to each side. Make sure the antenna is close enough to your AM radio to touch or almost touch it. Also try rotating the radio to different positions.
For those more technically inclined, I purchases a 300 ohm to 75 ohm matching transformer designed for TV cable/outdoor antenna interface and was able to get the Terk antenna to work flawlessly with a communications receiver.
I'm quite pleased with this antenna and would happlily buy it again at the price. It's a very good value. Was this review helpful?

My Degen 1105 consistently shows a 5 - 6 bar (out of 10) signal strength improvement, using the AM Advantage loop.
This is the 2nd, I've purchased and the quality has improved in that the tuning dial is more accurate than the first (which was off by 100 khz).
Place small AM radios INSIDE the loop for best improvements. If the radio won't fit inside the loop, I found that orienting the AM Advantage to be at about a 45* angle to the radio's ferrite bar antenna works best. Was this review helpful?

Took it out of the box, dialed in the station and placed it on top of my radio. Radio was already on and straining to bring in a signal. The second the Terk landed on the radio, the station came in clear and the constant static and scratching were gone. I listen to XM radio and now my favorite am stations are just as clear. Using this with newly purchased Cambridge Soundworks 820HD radio. Radio came with an AM loop but it never stays where you put it.
Pros:
* Solid base. Stays where you put it. Easy to move for adjusting reception. Isn't easily knocked over like other Terks.
* Significantly improves AM reception on all stations
* Single wire connection to radio
* Requires no power supply and the extra cable mess that goes with it.
Cons: (I'm nit-picking)
* Takes up some room. Prepare to sacrifice some space on the nightstand for good reception.
* Provided cable didn't work since both ends of my connection used 3.5mm mini jacks.
* Was only able to pick up one HD Radio signal on the AM band. I was hoping to get more, as there are many HD AM stations in my area. Makes me wonder if HD AM is even possible on anything less than a 50,000 watt blowtorch of a radio station. Was this review helpful?
