4 of 5 Very nice heaphones Tuesday, February 24, 2009 david from Vancouver, WA
I primarily acquired these for frequent airline trips. They are very good at reducing repetitive noise, like engine sounds and they do deliver what I perceive, to be very quality audio response. Seem to be a very quality headphone, overall. The case is also an excellent feature, for keeping them in good condition.
My only negative issues are the slightly small ear enclosure that does not fit over the ear, but on it. I have no idea if competitor products fit similarly, but it can be uncomfortable after a period of time.
The only other change I would recommend to the designers, would be to include a volume level adjustment to the headset - as such, one must adjust the audio on the connected device. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great deal on great headphones Saturday, January 17, 2009 A Customer from MN
I purchased these headphones before taking a series of flights over the holidays. I was very satisfied with the comfort, sound quality and noise canceling performance. The over the ear design blocks out a lot of noise even before they are turned on, and being able to unplug the audio cable all together from the headphones was a nice convenience. They helped lessen the massive discomfort of commercial air travel by blocking out a lot of the loud background noise and allowed me to listen to music at comfortably low level. Although not really the fault of this product at all, I thought I would mention the only downside of wearing headphones like these on a plane is they prevented me from resting my head against the side of the cabin thus making much it harder to get any sleep in the amazingly uncomfortable seats they jam you into on airplanes. 5 of 5 Superior Quality at a Great Price Thursday, January 15, 2009 David from Ridgefield, CT
My old noise cancelling headphones, which were a very expensive well known brand, recently broke after years of use, and I wondered about getting the same quality in a less expensive brand. But, there was no need to worry, Audio Technica was every bit as good as my old headphones and may even be constructed to last longer than my old workhorse. Hats off to Audio Technica on a great product! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 totally worth it! great bang for buck! Saturday, January 10, 2009 Jonathan from Mountain View, CA
I haven't been able to take this on a trip yet, but the few hours that I listened to music in the office, this pair of headphones was a BREEZE.
The first set I received was defective, with hissing in the right ear, but Audio-Technica support totally had my back and sent me another pair of headphones ASAP. I'm excited because these headphones work perfectly, and I'm about to go on a long distance plane ride!
We'll see how this goes! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 We bought two Monday, January 05, 2009 A Customer from Bothell, WA
I purchased this headphone for myself about a year ago. My wife tried them out and asked for them for Christmas. So we have two.
The fit is quite comfortable. I wear a large hat size so this is something that I'm sensitive to.
At home I don't use the noise canceling feature but it works quite well when flying. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 ONLY A MEDIOCRE HEADPHONE Thursday, January 01, 2009 A Customer from Bahamas/Quebec
I had a Logitech headphones before but one year later, the plastic headpeace broke at the attachment point to the headphone speakers, possibly out of fatique. I made an internet research and realized that the Audio-Technica headphone had a different attachment design and thus seemed more robust. I purchased it after reading extremely positive reviews on this website. The noise cancellation is mediocre,if not inferior compared to Logitech. Noise suppression is definitely not 85%, as the company claims. Logitech was far superior. The low frequencies produce a buzzing sound when listening to music and even your own voice produces a buzzing effect, when noise cancellation is on. The Logitech was half the price of Audiotechnica. The headphone may be robust in design but not very comfortable for a person with large size head. I can only wear them about one hour without headache. It produces a considerable pressure on the sides and the top of the head.
In summary,do not expect a great deal out of this headphone. There are other quality and budget friendly noise cancelling headphones out there. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good product if it works Tuesday, December 09, 2008 A Customer from Lexington, KY
Bought this product early in November as a birthday gift. Upon unpacking/trying it we found that the sound cut out every time the cord was touched. I called the manufacturer 4 separate times over the course of two weeks and left messages. I received a call back after the fourth message saying they would send a new cable. By then I had already shipped the product back to the manufacturer by mail for $26. They were prompt in returning it (sent on Friday, received new product on Tuesday). Product works well and does a good job canceling background sound. I would recommend this product, just hope that it works when you receive it. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great bang for the buck Monday, December 08, 2008 Dave from Perkiomenville, PA
Works well on the train and on airplanes. However, if the pilot turns on the main fan for the cabin, that will come through. There's a fair amount of leakage, people can hear what you are listening too. However, it does a GREAT job of filtering out the drone of the jet engines and the overhead vents. 5 of 5 Great Value Monday, November 17, 2008 A Customer from Mt Pleasant, SC
I also own a pair of Brookstone noise-cancelling headphones. These are the equivalent in all audio respects, plus they do not have a clumsy battery pack to deal with - the single batttery lives right in the headset. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Satisfied Customer Wednesday, November 05, 2008 A Customer from Duluth MN
This product is exceptional. For the price you can not go wrong. I have typically always bought products on the lower end of the price range but if you want an excellent product at a good price buy these head phones. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great performance at a reasonable price Tuesday, October 14, 2008 Michael from Bethel, CT
I purchased a set of ATH-ANC7 headphones recently for about $100 as an upgrade from my older (and less expensive) Maxell ANC headphones. The difference between the 2 models is really pronounced - while the Maxell model reduces outside noise, the AT model eliminates virtually all of it. The AT model also seems more efficient, requiring only 1 AAA battery instead of 2. After 15 hours of use, my NiMH batery has still not yet been drained. Finally, the AT model is a bit more comfortable than the Maxell; even though the battery is placed in the headset and not in the cord (like the Maxell), the extra weight is not noticeable and the headphone weight is well balanced. I guess it comes down to "you get what you pay for," so if you really want to shut out ambient noise and are willing to spend the extra $$, you will appreciate what the ATH-ANC7s can do. 5 of 5 SURPASSED MY EXPECTATIONS! Sunday, October 12, 2008 A Customer from Pittsburgh, PA
I bought these for my daughter who is in an aprtment at college with three other girls. She had a hard time concentrating with the noise from the other girls rooms. She had tried the "monster" headphones for $350.00 and I told her that was a ridiculous price and that there had to be others of acceptable features and quality for a lower price. I resewarched and saw other reviewa for these headphones, ordered them and had them sent to my daughter. Her response: AWESOME! THESE ARE THE "BOMB" Now I have her total confidence! 5 of 5 Wife Loves It Wednesday, September 10, 2008 A Customer from Buford GA
My wife destroyed her Phillips headphones because they did not have any protection during transit other than the little leatherette bag. Plus the plastic seemed very under-engineering. Even after the cracks were epoxied they continued to crack in other places. Very good electronics in a junk package.
The Audio Technica headphones do a much better job of covering her ears (no, she does not have Dumbo ears) and are comfortable for longer periods of time. They provide excellent noise immunity combined with excellent fidelity. Add to that a hard case for stuffing into a carry-on and a removable audio cord for plain old peace and quiet make these the hot ticket for travel.
You will spend more than the average price but in the end you will be rewarded with long term durability and performance. Score yourself a point and surprise her with these.

5 of 5 audio-technica ATH-ANC7 Tuesday, August 26, 2008 TheBeastWithinUsAll from Arizona, USA
Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 Overall excellent headphones.
.
Pros :
.
I paid about $109 for them, and for that price they are great! This was the first time I have ever bought electronics outside of Newegg and I got it from Buy.com, not a problem. Sound is clear, compared to my old Logitech Noise-Cancelling headphones. There are lots of high treble points and low bass points, really good sound. The design of the actual headphones is really neat and strong. Decent cord length, battery lasts long, even though I listen to it pretty loud. When switched on, the noise of my computer, 2 fans, and my water fountain disappear. The cushions are soft and there is plenty of room in the ear piece. The top band is also very nice. All around excellent headphones for the price.
.
Cons :
.
Higher pitched noises are not drowned out, like other people’s voices, or someone else’s speakers. The inside of the ear pieces are flat, unlike some Circumaural headphones where it is at an angle. So, your ear will hit the inside, but rarely. Other than that there is almost nothing wrong with them, I have dropped them several times and nothing has happened.
.
Other :
.
I have worn them for a 10 hour period and never even knew they were there, except for the music and sound. Use them at LAN parties for when nobody is playing any games and it keeps all the noobs noise out. ^.^

5 of 5 Solid pair of headphones Wednesday, July 30, 2008 A Customer from Lenexa, KS
My previous in-ear headphones don't even compare to the quality of these headphones. First off, in-ear headphones are uncomfortable and always fell out of my ears. The Quietpoint headphones fit beautifully and feel like pillows. Secondly, these headphones come with noise-cancelling ability and an amplifier for your music. Finally, the quality is just better. I am no audiophile, but when I'm listening to these headphones with the amp turned on I can really tell a difference. Great for when I'm at work and need to concentrate. My only complaint is that the lower-frequency sounds back off when I'm not using the amplifier/noise-canceling feature. I guess that's why they have it.
FYI, Audio Technica is a leader in high-quality microphone design (the kind used in studios) so they really know sound. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 I love these things! Sunday, July 06, 2008 MO from Dallas, TX
Just like most of the reviews I have read, I also compared these with the Bose QC2's and have to say I am delighted with my purchase of the AT headphones. Quiet, superb sound, comfort, everything I wanted. I also noticed that you can hear some sound from the outside, but since mine are primarily for travel on aircraft, I don't think this will be an issue. I'm not a 20 something who blares my music to deafening levels, so it shouldn't be an issue for my seat-mates. If it is, I'll come back and re-post a follow up. It is the ONLY thing I can think of that I might mark these down for. Excellent value! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very satisfied so far Thursday, May 29, 2008 EMK from Ann Arbor, MI
I bought these as a gift for my daughter. She reports that they are very comfortable and sound great. They mute well even without turning on noise-canceling. She has not yet had a chance to perform the ultimate test and use them on an airplane, but she is very pleased so far. Was this review helpful?

I love these headphones! They are extremely comfortable. They perform great in all ranges and the noise cancelling feature is amazing. You can also go 'cordless' if you want to utilize the noise cancelling feature alone. I am so glad I found these while I was looking at the much more expensive Bose headphones. 2 of 2 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Wow! Wow! Whoa on the bass! Thursday, December 27, 2007 Doc from Washington, D.C.
I have been through three sets of noise cancelling headphones trying to achieve that delicate balance between maximum noise cancellation, accurate fidelity and long wear comfort.
The Sennheiser was tops for comfort (not best for noise cancellation with the open-air design); the Sony had great cancellation and fidelity, but I could not keep them on for long flights (pinched); and the always over-priced Bose doubled and distorted on some bass input.
Upon seeing a positive review in one of my professional audio trade publications about the Audio-Technica, I decided to try one more time. They are awesome on all counts. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent product Tuesday, October 02, 2007 A Customer from Springfield, VA
I took these on a flight to Europe: they cut out engine and other background noises almost completely, while allowing me to hear the flight attendants easily (much easier then they could here me!). Didn't have to change batteries until I returned: the battery low indicator came on after two weeks of daily use and about 20 continuous hours of flight time. The carrying case it comes in was also very handy. Glad I bought them! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Listen to what I don't hear Monday, October 01, 2007 Steve S. from Clovis, CA
I purchased these headphones for use on airplanes and within one week I had a chance to test it out. Was on a 5 hour flight cross country and a young child was three rows behind me during the flight. Powered on noise canceling and with my MP3 player cranking the whole way, I could barely hear the distressed crying as I enjoyed the music and podcasts in peace. They have already paid for themselves. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Comfort Thursday, September 27, 2007 A Customer from Seattle, WA
I've mostly used the headphones connected to my computer. Can wear them for hours comfortably.
I recently flew crosscountry at midday. They cut the noise very well. I slept most of the way in spite of the small, loud child behind me.
I did not try them on the airline's audio system. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good product ,great value Tuesday, September 25, 2007 A Customer from Bismarck, ND
The headphones are very good noise-cancelers and are especially good on airplanes. They are at least as good as the Bose models at less than half the price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great pair of headphones! Monday, September 24, 2007 A Customer from Twinsburg, OH
I like these headphones quite a lot, they produce incredible sound, full and rich with clear highs and great bass. The noise cancelling is pretty good, I'd say comperable to the Bose consumer headphones. I personally don't think it's as good as it could be, but I'm bias from wearing Bose commercial pilot headphones (can't hear yourself talk, let alone the guy infront of you with the megaphone...)
For the money, I'd say these are a sure bet and certainly a better all around deal than the Bose consumer models. My only gripe is that they are made for those with small heads. Granted, I have a good sized cranium, but it's by no means unusuall large. They fit me, but only on the largest expansion setting, I'd like to have about three or four more clicks to call them perfect. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 The Sound of Silence Monday, September 24, 2007 A Customer from Los Angeles, CA
I bought these after reading the New York Times article by David Pogue where he reviewed a dozen or so brands of noice cancellation headphones against the industry standard Bose. He recommended the Audio Technica saying they basically work as well as the Bose at half the price. Not having tried the Bose, I can't compare them, but having just gotten back from a cross country plane trip, the Audio Technica headphones work great. Can't imagine being on a plane without them. Glad I bought them and saved the money on not buying the Bose. Also, they are great for listening to music and other programming while in the noise cancellation mode-you move into a flow space unlike standard headphones. Do they cut out all sound, no. But the advertised claim of reducing noise by 85%, I think they do. Kudos to Audio Technica and thank you to Davide Pogue. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Better than Bose Monday, June 18, 2007 A Customer from League City, Texas
I've tried the Bose headphone and found this one to be much better. The noise canceling feature is about the same as the Bose when not listening to music - but when music is added the sound quality is far more superior. Was this review helpful?
