3 of 5 Good cheap turntable Monday, March 02, 2009
A Customer from Roanoke, Va.

Due to the included software you will waste more time trying to record your old favorites than it is worth. Save your self much wasted time by using the turntable to just listen to your records when you want to. The instructings are very limited and the software is extreemly quirky. You can only convert the files to MP3's on a trial basis anyway and only on one computer at a time after registering. If I had it to do over again I would find a product with better software. PYRO is very bad. The music I copied when played on a quality stereo system were horrible. Much better to just play them directly from the turntable.

4 of 5 Works Great: Both hardware & software Wednesday, January 28, 2009
DCH from Bothell, Wa
Pros: Turntable is better than expected, quality of sound is fine, easy set up, software seems of good quality in function, recording from records and on through to burning a CD for our player was a snap. Cons: Paid $13 for shipping and the order took forever! I've not tried the recorded track clean up (pops, hissing etc}, and that may not be so easy. But if the vinyl record sound quality is good, the CD is fine. Pleased with the purchase, once it arrived.

4 of 5 USB Stereo Turntable Friday, December 26, 2008
Jnadreau from Mountlake Terrace, WA
Somewhat easy to set up. The instructions could be clearer. I battled with the belt drive on the turntable for a while before figuring out how it was supposed to work. The software isn't very intuitive either. Once I figured it all out, I was very happy with the product. I was very happy with the sound quality. It doesn't seem to lose integrity from vinyl to CD.

4 of 5 Works OK Tuesday, December 16, 2008
Paul from NC
This turntable is ok setup is fast. I decided to take the software off and switch to another program there are a couple of statements already on here. One gripe is there should be a clip on the arm to lock it down when not in use or transporting. Other than that no problem with the processing, shipping or any of that from buy.com. Its just good to be able to listen to the out of print LP's and rip them to my MP3 player. Beats buying the downloads online because of the savings.

4 of 5 From LP to MP(3) Saturday, October 04, 2008
A Customer from Seattle WA
This turntable isn't the lowest cost unit but it is still a very good value for the money. Product shipped promptly and arrived on the date advised in a new sealed box. Easy assembly, works like a charm (mechanically) the software (Aducity and Cakewalk) are not as intuitive and require learning and the tutiorials leave a lot to be desired but with some trial and error you'll get the have of it. Overall i'm very satisfied with all aspects of this purchase.

3 of 5 Audio Technica AT-LP2DUSB LP-to-Digital Recording Saturday, August 16, 2008
bobsocal from Victorville, CA
My overall satisfaction with the turntable is good. I was recording within minutes. However I don't think the encoder should have been an extra purchase. Should have came with the package not as an extra purchase.

5 of 5 Worked Great! Sunday, May 18, 2008
ReplayHarry from Valley Springs, CA
I must admit I wasn't expecting a whole lot for less than $100, but this item performed even better then I expected. The hardware is good, but the software makes the product. I've already transfered over about 8 of my old LPs. The click and pop remover works great as well as the noise remover. Haven't actually explored all it can do. But the MP3s I made sound almost as good as those ripped from CDs. I highly recommend.

5 of 5 I'm reliving my youth Friday, May 02, 2008
billgarrison from Mesa, Arizona
The turntable works perfectly with my windows XP. Installation and setup was extremely easy. I was recording in less than 30 minutes out of the box. The stylus is so sensitive it even recorded the birds chirping in my back yard and the sounds of the TV in the other room (I later found out). I haven't tried all the features such as cleaning up of popping sounds on my records but if it's anything close to the easy setup, I'm sure I'll be pleased. Not only am I having so much fun recording my albums (so far I've recorded 30 of 175) but this also gives me an opportunity to listen to all of my old albums from the 70's and 80's and remember when life was fun and relive in my mind the old times.

5 of 5 Great Value Monday, January 21, 2008
A Customer from Cuyahoga Falls, OH
For a cheap price you get to listen to your old records and convert them to mp3's. Simple setup, and the sound is okay. One of the two software packages doesn't work with Vista. But you only need one to get the job done anyway. You need to be some what computer literate to use the conversion application. For $100 bucks it's a deal.

4 of 5 Audio Technica USB turntable Friday, January 11, 2008
Tom Wargin from Milwaukee, WI
Price was great - delivery was prompt - Setup was easy - copying is simple. I used the included USB cable and connected it to my computer and followed the instructions in the manual to configure the audio and it seems to work fine. I am in the process of copying some of my best old vinyl to digital. My only complaint so far has been with the included Cakewalk Pyro software, which sometimes hiccups for me and I have to re-copy part or all of an album. I have not tried the included Audacity software since I thought it was primarily for the Mac and I run Windows XP pro on a desktop. I plan on trying that software next. Also, I need to find out if there is a faster method to transfer the music since you have to let the vinyl album play at normal speed while copying. If you plan on copying a large number of albums, this could take a long time.

5 of 5 Review of LP-to-digital record player Wednesday, January 09, 2008
ruffup from Kent, WA
I recently purchased this item (Audio Technica AT-LP2DUSB LP-to-Digital Recording System with USB) based on price at buy.com and on quality as determined by other reviews. I am pleased with the product. I have transcribed several (only a few) of my old LP’s (33-1/3 RPM records) to digital data, using one or the other of two different software products on my Mac Powerbook G4 (OS 10.4): Audacity and Final Vinyl. Both products came as free software, one with Powerbook purchase, the other with purchase of the Audio Technica Recording System. Buy.com provided a quality product promply and as promised (in proper condition). Setup was easy and quick. I was pleased to learn that the needle and transducer is the professional quality I expect (elliptical point, 0.2 x 0.7). See the comprehensive review by Juniorverse from Colorado for lots more details (no need to repeat them here). I use the USB input via the cable that came with the unit. The plastic dust cover hinges up and stays up, to insert and remove LP’s. After cleaning an LP, I place it in position, put the dust cover down, and push one button. The arm lifts, traverses to the start of the LP, and lowers itself slowly, then begins playing. The right way. When done (at end of LP), the arm lifts and returns itself to the rest position and the turntable shuts off. Just right. A big advantage of digital recording: using the Audacity software, I can remove annoying pops and clicks without harming the music quality.

4 of 5 Turntable with software issues Wednesday, December 05, 2007
A Customer from Colorado Springs, CO
The Audio Technica AT-LP2DUSB is a welcome addition to our audio system for just playing LP records. However, one of the main reasons we purchased this equipment was to save the old records to CDs. The software is not exactly user friendly. Yes, it does get the job done but is clumsy and has a significant learning curve. The item was delivered as promised and in good working order. I strongly recommend buy.com but am somewhat reluctant to recommend this particular item based on the questionable performance of the software.

5 of 5 Audio Technica USB Turn Table Friday, November 30, 2007
Robert Wright-McLeod from Wenatchee, Washington
Finally, an electronic product that works exactly like the manufacturer's claim. Assembled easily, WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS were clear, concise and SIMPLE. The software that was included works great also! I will recommend this MACINTOSH compatable item to anyone wanting to convert 33 1/3 RPM records to MP3 or WAV formats.

5 of 5 Excellent quality, especially for the price! Tuesday, October 23, 2007
Juniorverse from Colorado
I've never even owned any LPs before, but I recently got a real craving for some mixes that only appeared on DJ-only LPs. So I purchased a few, along with this turntable so I can rip them into MP3s. Everything arrived on the same day, so I was like a kid in a candy store. All I can say is HOORAY! There are two versions of this Audio-Technica turntable... one has USB capabilities, and the other (which is a bit less expensive) does not. However, even with the USB output, there are also good old RCA outputs on this turntable. The turntable also comes with two RCA to stereo 3.5mm mini-plug adapters: one male adapter (for connecting to stereos, powered speakers, or a mixer with 3.5mm mini jack inputs), and one female adapter (for connecting to amplified speakers or other devices with a mini-plug). Basically, you can connect this turntable to almost anything without having to go out and purchase additional cables or adapters. The unit has three buttons on the front: start, stop, and up/down. I'm sure you can guess what each of these does. This is an automatic turntable, so the arm is controlled by the buttons (no need to manually lift and place the needle back down). The turntable also has a pre-amp switch, for either "line" or "phono" output. This way, you can connect it to most devices, whether they have an amplifier or not. The setup of the turntable itself is pretty easy. Follow the instructions to easily place the platter onto the turntable and pull the drive belt onto the motor spindle (illustrations are included). I elected to connect the RCA cables to one of the adapters, and connected that to the "line-in" mini-jack input on my digital sound card. Technically, I didn't need to purchase this more-expensive USB version of the turntable since I am not using the USB output, but that's beside the point :) There are two CDs included in the package: one for Cakewalk Pyro 2004/2005 (commercial software), and one for Audacity (open source software). Cakewalk Pyro is NOT compatible with Windows Vista, so I installed Audacity (check their website for newer versions if desired). After installing Audacity, I selected my input source ("line-in"), put the first LP on, and heard exactly what I was hoping to hear... high quality music and sound. So I restarted the LP, hit the record button in Audacity, and waiting for the song to finish. Then I hit the "stop" button in Audacity to stop recording, quickly and easily trimmed a bit of the dead space before and after the song, and exported it to a high-quality, high bit-rate MP3. For the money, I couldn't have asked for anything better. Everything sounds crystal clear, and couldn't be easier. I highly recommend this product. If you have a line-in jack on your sound card (which most do), and would like to use that, save yourself a few bucks and go with the model that doesn't have the USB output. I'm not sure if the other model comes with a CD for Audacity (maybe only Pyro), but Audacity is an open-source free download on the web anyway. Either way, you won't be disappointed. Happy ripping! :)
