The Atlona AT-HD500 is designed to take video signal from PC or Laptop and upscale it to digital HDMI output of wide-range HDTV and PC resolutions, up to 1080p or WUXGA (1920x1200). All adjustments are done on the actual scaler, which makes it very simple to use and requires no technical knowledge. Besides video upscaling, the AT-HD500 can also convert digital/analog audio signal to digital/analog format, then output to HDMI combining with the video. The Atlona converter has a comprehensive OSD menu that allows user to select a variety of output resolutions and adjust for best picture quality. Note: If you are planning to use you desktop computer you might need a local VGA output to a local display. We do have another model: AT-HD510VGA that has VGA local output as well.

Automatically detect the factory setting of the connected display and output the corresponding resolution and refresh rate, when Native output is selected

5 of 5 Great HDMI Video Card Alternative Wednesday, July 08, 2009

I needed to connect a PC to a 47" LCD TV in my businesses' conference room, which was only pre-wired with HDMI cabling. The PC's motherboard would not accommodate installation of an HDMI video card. So I purchased the Atlona AT-HD500 as an alternative solution. Installation was completely plug and play: I simply connected VGA and audio cables between the PC and the Atlona and then connected an HDMI cable between the Atlona and the TV. The product work flawlessly and without any need for manual adjustment. I set the PC’s display settings to 1920x1200 and the Atlona automatically scaled it to match the TV’s native 1080P resolution. The picture quality is excellent with video, graphics, text, etc. all appearing clear, crisp and color-correct. I’m extremely pleased with this product in all respects. My only mild criticism would be that it’s a little bit more expensive in comparison to purchasing an HDMI video adapter (which wasn’t an option in my case).
