5 of 5 Good card, but replace the software Tuesday, May 15, 2007
    Projammer from Oklahoma City, OK
I am quite pleased with the card itself. I am 15 miles from downtown, and I can get all ATSC channels except one without an antenna. I'll get that soon, but it's not urgent. The software is very poor. The '5' rating is for the CARD ONLY. You should PLAN to purchase SageTV or BeyondTV. The Catalyst software was buggy, even with the latest updates. I've owned two All-In-Wonder cards and was very pleased with the software, so Catalyst was a great let-down. I could not get Nero 7 Ultra Enhanced to use this card. Read on the net the 650 is not supported. I bought SageTV and love it. I am archiving Hi8 tapes through S-Video. SageTV records to MPG files that are ready for Nero to burn to DVD. Works great. 5 of 5 this is a great card, i want to buy 2 more Tuesday, April 17, 2007
    A Customer from hayward, ca
i purchased this card back in february when the price was lower. the card is the very first tv tuner card i have owned and i'm very pleased with my purchase. i installed it on windows vista ultimate and it works flawlessly. no problem with drivers, installed the drivers and it was recognized. i heard negative reviews about the ati media center software and someone recommended beyond tv. i am using beyind tv and all my over the air local hd channels come through really clear. my standard local cable channels from comcast comes through really clear as well. i'm using this product on a 19" lcd monitor that has 720p support and the picture quality is really excellent even for the non-hd programing. the beyond tv software allowed me to watch the standard cable and hdtv programing together, the vista media center will only allow to choose one or the other. the fm reception is great too, too bad there is no info about the radio programing. the free remote offer from ati is great too, it works, but its not the greatest, better then nothing. i am consider purchasing 2 more of these card if the price is lower like how much i paid back in february because the beyond tv software has an option to make a server system and stream the programing to other pc on the network.

    1 of 5 Bad reception/weak support Saturday, April 07, 2007
A Customer from Fallc Church, VA
Lots of good reviews on this card, but I have not had any luck. The analog reception is poor and there does not seem to be any solution. Installs easliy on XP Pro, but then the troubles begin. Support is for people who can't find the new drivers for themselves, and nothing else. FM radio was OK. If you get a decent piece of HW for your money, you may be OK, but otherwise give to charity.

    3 of 5 So-so Sunday, April 01, 2007
    A Customer from Apex NC
Not as good as ATI's HDTV Wonder card which it replaces, but the HDTV Wonder won't function under Windows Vista. And this one will only function under Windows Media Center in Windows MCE and Vista, not under the ATI Catalyst Media Center. Sadly, Windows Media Center doesn't have a "screenshot" button as was available with the HDTV Wonder card.

5 of 5 Excelent Picture Quality Monday, March 26, 2007
    A Customer from Concord, CA
I am very happy with the TP650 card. It has the best picture quality of any of the three cards I have tried, both in terms of noise and stability. I use it for standard NTSC cable and FM, even though it is ATSC capable. I also have a HDTV Wonder card (550 chip) in the system that has very good PQ but the 650 is a notch above in all respects. The card is a very small, only a few inches tall and short card length which helps with air flow. I can't recommend using the ATI media center software. I found it had some major deficiencies when compared to the other options. I run Snapstream's Beyond TV software instead and find it work well with the ATI cards even in multi tuner configurations.

    5 of 5 visually stunning Sunday, March 25, 2007
    MikeB from Austin, TX
I have 2 of these cards in an old P4 computer running MCE 2005. The quality of the video is amazing. The colors are perfect and there are no artifacts. The tuners work exceptionally well for OTA analog and digital channels. Having 2 of these is a must since you can't record and watch different channels with only 1 card. CPU utilization is under 25% when running both cards.

    5 of 5 Great Buy Saturday, March 24, 2007
    A Customer from morris, OK
This tuner worked as advertised. I suggest purchasing the beyondTV software instead of using the included catalyst media center. It seems to work much better IMO. Also, I got my tuner when it was twent-five dollars cheaper.

4 of 5 Worth the money, but more options needed Friday, March 23, 2007
A Customer from king george, va
Overall, i'm happy with this product. It did basically everything it said it would do right out of the box. Installation was a breeze, though i had to restart the process once. ( i expect that from my computer, not a hardware issue ) The only thing it doesn't do which it said it could, is full screen. I have windows xp, so perhaps with MCE it would do full, but the software package it came with gets to about half screen. Excellent product, worth the money.

    3 of 5 Avoid It Thursday, March 15, 2007
    Sam from Denver, CO
The software for this card is beyond acceptable. The EPG is worthless, since no one has ever got it to work and the ATI site says they have no solution for it. They are aware of the problem, but do not know what to do. So, as far as the PVR functionality goes, it is out of the window. The ATI drivers manage to crash Windows every once in a while, tried the latest from their website, still no solution. Overall, avoid it & buy something which has a decent software to run it.

3 of 5 If you have Windows Vista, you may have problems Thursday, March 15, 2007
    A Customer from Provo, UT
I got this card specifically for use with Windows Media Center in Windows Vista Home Premium. It says that this card is Vista certified on the box but it was a nightmare to install. I ended up having to reinstall windows 3 times to get it to work. It only started working after I installed XP and Vista in a dual boot setup. ATI hasn't yet come out with Vista stable drivers.

    A Customer from fgfdhdgfdg

4 of 5 Great combo tuner card Wednesday, March 14, 2007
    cpfenn from Woodstock, GA
I bought this at BUY.com on 2/27/07. I paid $89.99 i guess it was on sale. Great tuner card for both ATSC and NTSC. Installed easily in my XPMCE pc. Card is low profile but I can't find a low profile bracket for the card, anyone? I wish it came with one. At $89.99 it is an incredible value. At @$127 it is still a good value. CPU usage is also lower with this card compared to the 2 tuners I had in my PC. I was using a HDTV wonder and a Ehome wonder. I recommend this for MCE, hell I'm thinking about getting another one but I really need that low profile bracket. Maybe when its on sale again. ATI where the hell is the low profile bracket?

4 of 5 Great TV Tuner Card, Awful Software Wednesday, March 14, 2007
    A Customer from Carmel, IN
The quality of the TV card is great; I couldn't get the software to work properly (in terms of recording future shows). I ended up having to buy Beyond TV which is as good on the software side as the TV card is. Too bad ATI wasted its money on poor software.

5 of 5 Great Card with a little effort to research Thursday, March 08, 2007
A Customer from New York, NY
<p>This is a great high end HDTV tuner card available on market.HDTV looks amazing and it picks up most free over the air channels at NY. I was confused to get it since the reviews are not so good about this card over Hauppauge HVR-1600. I am just wanted to share my experience how I made it works well. To make it works please follow these steps.</p> <p> 1) Get the Amplified HDTV antenna. Please check which antenna you need for your area at antennaweb.org. I would recommend Terk HDTVa from audiovox which has great review and reasonable price. I have to use Terk TV55 multidirectional antenna since the other is not available the time I bought. </br> 2) Install the card on available PCI slot on your machine.</br> 3) Do not follow the ATI manual, it will let you install catalyst software it come with it. After you started the machine, it will pop up the new hardware found wizard. Follow the steps to install driver from CD.</br> 4) Download and Install Beyond TV 4.6 from Snapstream. The trial version lasts 21days. I would recommend using 3rd party firewall to block access to internet since that BeyondTV Network Service open up the windows firewall. Follow the set up wizard to scan available channels. You have an option to choose your favorite decoder which is not available on catalyst software.</br> This is it. You can start enjoy HDTV on your PC.</p> <p> Other thoughts, this is the software decoder card so it need lots of CPU activity. It usually take around 50~60% on my machine. You may interest hardware decoder card like MyHD. I got the good deal for this card at buy.com.</p> FYI: my machine specification:</br> HP Workstation</br> Dual Xeon Processor 2.4GHz</br> 1GB ECC RAM</br> ATI Readon 9800 256MB</br> Samsung 206BW monitor</br>

    5 of 5 TV Wonder 650 PVR Review Wednesday, February 28, 2007
A Customer from Bloomfield Hills, MI
This product is deployed into a system built using a Tyan 2885 motherboard, dual 242 Opterons and Vista. Initial installation was a challenge, as current ATI Catalyst drivers had to be rolled back to the Microsoft standard drivers in order to get reliable operation. After rollback, the product has worked flawlessly. Picture quality is excellent. Using the Windows Media Center application does consume a huge amount of CPU. If performing other work at the same time, picture quality is impacted.

3 of 5 ATI Software and Drivers are always buggy Monday, February 26, 2007
    A Customer from Chicago, IL
Careful with ATI TV products. I have owned so many and the hardware is always amazing and the software is loaded with potential, but getting the drivers and software to work well is always a pain, and ATI does not support old products. For those of you familiar with the HDTV Wonder, they have completely discontinued driver support on that model, probably to get people to buy this one. Also, you need a remote with a product like this, and none is probided. When they bundle the remote, they sell it much cheaper than purchasing it separately.
