5 of 5 For people who have shopped around! Thursday, May 08, 2008
Troy from Orlando, FL

Okay, so I know how it feels to have shopped around and read the same reviews over and over. Here's the the bottom line: 2 thumbs up. As far as performance: Wi-Fi on 50% picks up more then my wireless Lynksis router. I am pulling signals from 4 neighbors at 50%. Included software does everything for you, just be sure to put the CD in first to install drivers, and be patient with load times on Vista. Skype CD is included, so you don't need to download it. I'm back and forth with them right now on how to RECIEVE calls, because SkypeIn is not working right now. YES you can access the FULL internet, no sissy cell-phone internet. YES you can play FULL LENGTH movies, Windows Media player comes with it, so you can also play songs. The battery runs warm, but it's not half as hot as a cellphone after a 30 minute conversation. Program response time takes getting used to (took me about 10 minutes), when you're used to high-end CPU's. Overall, you cannot beat the quality, price, and features this device has. (Options on your screen brightness are about 8 dif settings) I would recommend this over the HP's, Dell's, and Palm's.

5 of 5 ROM update is recommended Wednesday, February 27, 2008
mingkee from Brooklyn, NY
this unit is fine for me
came with WM6, but it's not that stable
after ROM update, it works alot better, no single freeze ever since
web browsing is pretty pleasant
bt a2dp works pretty well (but range is not good enough)
though it has 1200mA/h battery, the power management is exceptional, almost 9 hours of audio playback with a2dp active

5 of 5 A Great Pocket PC Sunday, February 17, 2008
Adam Roberts from Provo, Ut
Hello, For anyone searching for a pocket pc that is a good deal and works great the Asus MyPal A626 is a good choice. I have had my A626 for about 6 months now and absolutely love it. I have read alot of reviews on this product before I bought it, and alot more after I bought it. There have been a few that have said this product runs slow and takes too long while switching or opening programs. These reviews say that it takes two or three seconds to open the program, which is too long. Maybe it is my old fashion thinking but even if it takes that long, you are using a pocket pc (which is not a laptop). I have no problem opening programs or having it take too long, I use MobiPocket reader for reading ebooks and this is the only program that takes maybe two seconds to open up. The only time I have had a problem with the device stalling is when I have four or five programs running at the same time. Another problem I here of alot is the device not working well for music. I love to listen to music, especially on my A626. Asus support website has a new upgrade for the A626 that allows it read SDHC cards. So now I can fit as much music as I want on the device. Once you have the music loaded you can setup playlists any way you want them and start jamming to the beat. To help with battery life and playback set the device on hold which turns off the screen to reserve the battery. A big problem I have seen with the device is that the wifi and the bluetooth are not very strong, signal wise. I live in a 900 sq ft apartment that has an upstairs and a downstairs. Even with the wifi set on 50 percent power(which save on the battery) I can get a signal anywhere in my house. You may also turn the power of the wifi up to 100 percent and start crusing the internet. The bluetooth is a wonderful little toy. I can connect with anything I have wanted to so far. Now I dont want to make it seem like I am harping on these other peoples reviews, but I think sometimes in our evergrowing modern world we get too spoiled. I will be the first one to say that electronics are a great and wonderful thing and they should work right, but I will also be the first say that they can have alot of problems and defects and anyone expecting every electronic to work perfectly is dreaming. My overall impression of the A626 is that it is a well put together pocket pc. I wouldn't trade mine for any other. It has all sorts of upgrades like GPS and many others. I like being able to make my A626 customized to accomadate me. This is a great pocket pc and you will not be sorry for buying it.

5 of 5 Exactly what I wanted for an excellent price Saturday, December 01, 2007
Scott from Buffalo, NY
I bought in Sept 2007. I searched around and reviewed many PDAs and Cell phones with Windows Mobile and this one was by far the best at the best price, equal in capability to many other twice as expensive PDA's out there. It works seemlessly with Microsoft Outlook on both my Winxp and WinVista machines. Screen is really bright and can be set to dim. While screen on, battery at full charge lasts about 24 hours for me. While in sleep mode, being awakened only for schedule reminders, battery lasts about 3 days. It even syncs with bluetooth, though I must admit, I use the usb cable, since it was a bit confusing how to bluetooth sync. I use Outlook contacts and scheduling, and it even does Microsoft Notes 2007 syncing, which is pretty neat if you use Notes like I do as I am also a student. I absolutely love the horizonal use of the screen, the extra width will keep you using it sideways most of the time. The extra memory 256M and Mobile 6 they slipped in are just an added bonus that will make you love this machine. I even use Mobile Skype on it (using the wireless g wifi) so that it is even a mobile cell phone for FREE on campus. You will not be disappointed, though a slight cavet is that I haven't found a way to run older WinCE games, though I'm sure there is an emulator for it somewhere if I ever get the time to search for it. You will not be disappointed with this PDA. Hope this review helps you make a good decision! - Scott from Buffalo, NY

A Customer from Fargo, ND
This is my first PDA and after lots of search bought this. This is not only good for the price but for all the features. It is very easy to use and has been wonderful with skype, wifi and office tools. Best of all are low weight and being handy . The only con i would say is lack of memory.

5 of 5 Very satisfied Sunday, August 26, 2007
Mark from Bellevue, WA
Due to problems with my last two purchases of Palm devices I decided to make the switch to a Pocket PC. I could not be happier with this ASUS A626 Pocket PC; I wanted something that didn't have "all the frills" (GPS, phone, etc). While this unit has wifi and bluetooth it was the most minimalist Pocket PC I could find. My only annoyance (and it is very minor) is that the on/off button should not be next to the SD card slot; due to fat fingers I sometimes pop the SD card out when I don't want to.
