The Asus Striker Extreme is a great motherboard that just had too many problems early on in its life to catch on in the enthusiast crowd. If Asus wants some of the 680i market (and I think they do) they'll need to drop the price a bit. 4 of 5 Great stuff for the intermediate Thursday, January 03, 2008

Here is my review for a product I think is extremely easy to use. First I want to tell people if you are using this for a Q6600 Quad processor DO NOT UPDATE TO THE 1305 BIOS. If your board comes with the 1305 BIOS pre installed DOWNGRADE to the 1301 version. You will not be able to overclock at all with the 1305 BIOS and your computer will lock up. Lets start off I am a first time system builder. I have no prior experience with mother boards. I do know that the Asus Striker Extreme is very user friendly. If you read the manula carefully it really walks you through step by step. Furthermore another greta feature of this board is everything and I mean everything just seems to go together easily. All the connectors, CPU installation, the placement of all the power connectors (motherboard, 4/8 pin connector) all are placed with ease of installation in mind. As for mild overclocking, once I got the 1301 BIOS installed is a breeze. Everything is laid out for you and most of the BIOS items have a good discription of what it does and what to do. I dont think this board is right for a power user or an advanced system builder. But if you are like me and just kinda starting out, get this board. It will make your life easier. There are a ton of features just tailored made for noobs like us. One more warning. Do not buy Corsair Dominator ram above 6500 DDr2 modules. I made the mistake of trying to put in the dominator 8500's and they dont work.
