4.3 of 5 excellent product, but TMC generally is a fiasco.. 7/25/2008

I have purchased R700T with big hopes for some travel help from TMC since i live in NYC... my bad... but first things first...
DEVICE is very handy and has a big screen what makes it pretty easy to operate even if you dont have stylus, as long your fingers are not 'too bulky'... cute function to adjust brightness according to amount of surrounding light... generally - good job... still i'm missing scroll on the side to adjust volume... u can do it by couple clicks, but would be easier with old fashioned scroll...
SOFTWARE is easy to use and pretty accurate... but... sometimes freezes and pops with tiny 'OK' to click and then you have to restart it...
very useful function to calculate route for peds/cars/buses and it's accurate with the bus without choosing illegal routes - old iGo wasnt accurate here...
loads of options, but i couldnt get into operation importing large numbers of POI into device... fine...
speed cameras are inaccurate, just proximity is enough to trigger alarm (you have to import the cameras into device)...
saved routes dont work very well and line indicating route disappears sometimes...
Nav'N'Go loads this soft with two trip computers, but ASUS didnt activate it...
now the biggest CONCERN... TMC... one guy said at a time 'it's not the people, it's the system being bad'... TMC idea sounds great... lets hear 'traffic jam ahead' and go around it... so easy... device recieves info about traffic, but if the information is inaccurate, outdated or incomplete... it's like going on the trip with flat tire and without fuel... device reroutes off clear higway and straight into a side street jam... or routes with so strange directions that sitting in a creeping traffic takes less than bypassing it... complete fiasco... if you know the area and traffic patterns (when and where you can expect traffic) it's useful to know immediately about traffic, instead of waiting and listening the news every 10 mins... but still YOU have to make decisions if to take a chance or avoid some area... if you're not familiar with the area, i suggest to avoid only collisions, otherwise you are going to drive many extra miles and spend more on already expensive fuel...
