5 of 5 Great product at a great price! Thursday, September 10, 2009
Meg from Bowling Green, KY

I love this little netbook! It does everything I need it to do and is easy to carry just about anywhere. I especially like that it is a Linux based system so I don't have to put up with Microsoft products and their endless updates!!

5 of 5 GREAT VALUE - Really Sharp unit! Wednesday, September 09, 2009
A Happy Customer from Orange County, New York
This ASUS Eee PC 900 Netbook arrived quickly. As promised it was brand new. This Netbook has everything you need to surf the web and open attachments including Excel and Word docs. It even has virus check software for this Unix System (not Microsoft). The 1 Gig on board memory provides plenty of operating speed. One potential drawback is the 20 Gigs of on board memory - you cannot load everything on it, however here is some good news - although not clearly listed, it has an SD Card Slot. I added another 16 Gig of memory! The boot up is a mere 30 seconds, and shut down takes about 10 seconds - what a pleasure! Nice clear screen. With full brightness, I ran it for over 2 hours on a charge. If it becomes available again - buy it.

5 of 5 effective Wednesday, September 09, 2009
Nate from Atlanta, Ga
Not the most blazing fast operating system (1.6ghz processor). Also adding addition things onto the system is not as straight forward with the linux operating system, but if you know how to google, then that's not an issue. Perfect mobility and high bang for the buck. Lets me do things in tight spaces. Perfect for my college's larger campus (dont need to carry around a 15lb laptop.) Has enough umph to handle the larger program requirements (not for gaming, digital editing, if u want to game, dont get a netbook, if you want to manipulate images, get a serious computer.) Small, does the business job. An excellent buy, even for college.

5 of 5 very satisfied Monday, September 08, 2008
Jon from Fenton, MI
I have had this for a couple weeks now; everything is just as I had expected it would be based on the specs and other reviews. The only thing that I don't like is the slight noise when the cooling fan needs to come on. (if you are in a quiet room, the fan sounds a little cheap)

5 of 5 Great portable solution Tuesday, September 02, 2008
Rick from Lake Forest, IL
Purchased for a good price with rebate (spending half the rebate for overnight delivery). When traveling, provided a great access device for internet. Won't write the Great American Novel on it, but small keyboard is workable. Not crazy about the touch pad. Too sensitive. Cursor jumps all over the page, even when not touching the pad. Have sent several incomplete emails in AOL because of some combination of keys and touchpad. Really like Linux OS. Set up out of box took 15 minutes with no drama. Boots in 15 seconds; shuts down in 5 seconds. This will be a great in-flight tool. Easy to link with WiFi and wired access. Found the wireless LAN at home with no problems. Open office is largely compatible with MS Office. Only one very complex spreadsheet did not load properly. Only issue is figuring out how to port Outlook calendar and contact database. Kontact does not import .pst files directly. CSV export from Outlook did not load into Kontact properly. Still trying to figure it out. Overall, highly recommend computer with Linux. I am confident I can overcome the PIM issues. This is a great notebook for those who are not computer geeks. Desktop is very intuitive and provides easy, logical access to computer's resources.

5 of 5 It's so tiny and portable! Tuesday, August 05, 2008
Sophia from Richmond, VA
It's been a long time since I've used a Linux machine, so that took a few minutes to get used to. Changing the password after initial set up also took some work - you have to log in as the root user and change it from there or else the system tells you that not enough time has passed for you to change your password. We're not sure if we can create multiple user accounts either. We just created multiple users on Firefox. One thing that would be nice is if NetFlix's instant watch function worked with Firefox so that you could watch movies in your queue while stuck at the airport. The first thing I thought when I saw it - it's so TINY!

4 of 5 great little laptop Wednesday, June 18, 2008
A Customer from Tempe, AZ
This is a perfect little machine for checking email, surfing the web, reading ebooks, etc but with a small screen and tiny keyboard you won't be doing much word processing or graphic design. The keyboard is cramped so if you have bigger hands and type from the home row be prepared for a few typos. And, I'm not sure if it's just me but it seems that ever other mouse click doesn't get recognized so I find myself having to re-click the mouse button. This happens too often for my liking. I installed WinXP as soon as I received it but found out quickly that you must use XP SP2 or later or you'll get a blue screen during install. If all you have is < SP2 there are directions on the web for slipstreaming an SP2 install disk. When installing I found there appears to be 2 drives a ~4g & ~16g. I installed XP on the 4g but ran out of space quickly because of the swap file so I moved to D: drive and freed up half the space. If you're the fence about this machine I'd highly recommend this as a 2nd laptop just for the size and convenience but stay away if you're thinking of this for the primary machine.

5 of 5 Perfectly mobile and versitile Friday, June 13, 2008
Ryan from Boise, ID
Since I began college I have enjoyed small compact computers, the EePC 900 is replacing my older IBM x40. I loved my x40 for how small and light it was with easily enough power to handle notes, online research, and reports. The EePC picks up where the x40 left off, ultra compact, very light and dependable. I have been using it for a couple weeks now, the battery life is quite long (around 3 hours), the Eee is perfect for me. Only cons might be for people with larger fingers, they may have issues with the smaller keyboard. Outside of keyboard size, I have not found anything I dislike.

4 of 5 A good machine for travel Tuesday, June 03, 2008
gene from Ventura Co., CA
This computer is small enough for travel, but capable enough to meet my requirements while on the road. The Linux OS is easy to use and the screen is very readable. The included carrying case could be improved by adding space for the power adapter and a few memory cards, but overall I'm very happy with the Eee PC.

5 of 5 Love it! Take it everywhere. Thursday, May 29, 2008
brdbrain from Chicago, IL
I briefly had an Asus Eee PC701 running Linux. I could have dealt with small screen, small hard drive, etc., but 512 MB of RAM was just TOO SLOW. Love my new little PC900. So much faster, bigger screen, and you don't have to scroll to see webpages. Linux is very simple to use (This was a concern since I'd previously used DOS, and Win95-Vista.). Wonderful built in applications. This is a great little machine to use "on the fly". Last time I travelled airport security people were so fascinated that they didn't want to stop looking at it. My young grandchildren love it, too. Size and weight are wonderful. Pop it into a purse or large fanny bag, and off I go.

5 of 5 PC 900 Thursday, May 29, 2008
A Customer from Bad Axe, MI
Linux works flawlessly. No need to install windows xp although directions come with it for xp install if desired. Boots and finds wireless signal quickely. I can use logmein program to work on any of my windows machines that are at work or at home. It is not my primary computer but great for travel and to keep by my easy chair for net browsing. I think I could have saved $150 by buying one of the models with a smaller drive as I usually store any work on my networked computers.

5 of 5 Asus PC900 Wednesday, May 28, 2008
A Customer from Manassas, Virginia
The laptop arrived quickly and worked perfectly right out of the box (after charging the battery). Although the price is a bit high, and the keyboard is smaller than a standard laptop, I'm still satisfied since I knew this would be the case before I bought it. PROS: Works as advertised, software updates are available online, and there is a lot of information available on the net for tweakers or people that just want to learn more about the PC900 and what you can do with it. Although this is a Linux based computer there is no learning curve. All applications run from icons on the easy mode desktop. CON: Crumpled brown paper was used to pack the shipping box, and the box containing the actual computer appears to have been put flat on the bottom of the shipping box. Overall I really like this computer. In households with children, the smaller size makes this a great computer for kids to use it to the full potential.
