5 of 5 Love our "wee" book Tuesday, September 29, 2009
Tonya from FL

This little portable notebook is the favorite in our home. Everyone loves it. It's been dubbed the "wee" book by our family. No one wants to lug around the full-size laptop we have. With 2 college students, they both fight for the "wee". We are definetly buying another one! :-D

5 of 5 Asus 4G Surf Saturday, October 04, 2008
Daniel McKenzie from Hoklah, MN
Great little computer. I wanted a small laptop for traveling on a motorcycle and this is perfect! Had no problems, just booted up and works. I ordered a 4G SD card to expand the memory, also just worked fine. The Asus boots up and shuts down very quickly, boot-up in about 30 seconds, down in half that. Wireless was able to connect to my home Linksys WRT54G using WEP and also with several public access points. I'm completely satisfied.

5 of 5 Worth the Price Saturday, September 27, 2008

When this product dropped to around $300 it became irresistible. It has not disappointed me in any way. I can now take a business trip with a computer but without the weight and hassles. CIO, OptHome www.opthome.com

5 of 5 Azus makes it easy to get on line. Tuesday, June 10, 2008
A Customer from Tacoma, WA
Bought this small computer for my 80 year old Mother. She walks with a cane, so needed something small and light to carry. The Asus eee fit the bill. She can easily get on line, write e-mails and get on the Internet anywhere she wants. The wireless connection lets her surf the net while sipping her morning coffee at Starbucks with ease. She is not computer savvy, so had to set up the contacts for her on Yahoo, but she can click on them and write to everyone now. Because she does not embrace technology I had to find something simple for her to use. Well the Asus eee is it. Buy.com delivered it quickly and it was ready out of the box.

5 of 5 Amazingly simple to use! Wednesday, May 21, 2008
Scott from Austin, TX
Very Solid piece of equipment! It's very easy to use. Out of the box and online within a couple of minutes. Built-in Browser (Firefox), Instant Messaging, OpenOffice 2.0, plus Skype, Media player and this little laptop becomes a powerhouse. It's amazingly quiet. The 4GB allowed me plenty of extra space, although a USB memory stick certainly makes data storage simple. I have yet to find any real reason to put Windows XP on it - just not worth the effort. I have a full-power desktop PC, but find that I am using this 90% of the time and not even turning the home PC on. I plugged in an external monitor / keyboard / mouse and the Eee was just as fast as my desktop.

5 of 5 Powerful, portable, but... Wednesday, May 07, 2008
PaB from Winston-Salem, NC
This little laptop is a fantastic buy for someone on a tight budget or who needs ultra portability. It's easy to use; the interface can be easily understood by a casual user. It can do everything a normal user needs (Internet, Email, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, chat, etc.). We've mapped it to printers and network storage on our network with ease. The only drawbacks stem from its small size. If you are a touch typist and used to a normal size keyboard, this keyboard will take some getting used to. Also, the screen while very clear and crisp, is very small. I also found the sensitivity of the touchpad to be erratic sometimes working with the slightest touch, and others not responding to a fairly heavy tap. It seems to take a considerable amount of time to connect to new networks, but once connected works well. We've used on open and encrypted wireless networks. That said, my 16 year old daughter loved it -- no problems with the keyboard or video display. This is a fantastic buy for someone looking for great functionality at a low price.

If you only need a machine for internet and web-based E-mail, this will do the trick. Light, fast, etc. Smaller hands help for the compact keyboard.

5 of 5 Top rate when used for it's intention... Monday, April 14, 2008
mrbuckaroo from The Matrix, USA
Added 16MB SDHC, 2GB RAM and Windows XP. Runs great with a bit of tweaking and still have over 2.5GB left on the HD. Already had an external DVD/CD-ROM, so installing programs is easy. I use it mostly for checking emails & lite browsing while on the road and for that purpose IT ROCKS! Added a 250GB mini external USB powered HD and now I can cruise around with TONS of music & video files to go! Just wish there were more accessories available like car adapters, etc. Nice leather cases on the bay, though. For the mobile inclined, this IS the way to go!

5 of 5 This baby rocks! Saturday, April 12, 2008
A Customer from Indianapolis, In
I bought a 2GB ram chip to throw into this so I could switch to Windows and contacted Asus who told me and sent me an email to back it up that adding ram does not void your warranty. Switching the SSD would though. Content in this knowledge, I decided first to try it out with the stock OS and it is very easy to get the hang of. I never bothered switching to Windows, or installing the 2GB of ram. I used it to upgrade another laptop. This thing is the best for portability in my car, on vacation or at the cafe. Everyone comments on it. I did need to do a little tweaking here and there for my preferences on the touchpad, but that holds true for any laptop I use. Today the price drop makes this a terrific deal here on Buy.com so don't hesitate!

5 of 5 I love this product! Wednesday, April 02, 2008
John Thomas from Littleton, CO
I bought this machine as a light/mobile secondary laptop, but after a few weeks of use, I'm using it much more than my primary machine. As a mobile business owner, I need to stay in contact with my customers and this ultraportable allows me to do so. I have no reason to replace the Linux based system with Windows. The Linux system is very easy to use and light-weight, so start up is very fast. The only issue I've had are the battery drains fairly quickly. I highly recommend this product.

Asus everyday from Boca Raton FL
This laptop is for people on the go. Very comfortable to carry around all day. Highly recommended for people that do not need a lot of memory storage and don’t mind using a SD card to store applications. Great laptop for the money!!!!

5 of 5 Can't believe how much I like it!! Wednesday, March 12, 2008
A Customer from New York, NY
I read all I could get my hands on before parting with the $350 or so that this machine set me back. When ASUS announced the 9" video screen, I figured this model might be phased out (I'm not trying to start a rumor, I'm just describing my thought process) so I ordered one. I opted for the Surf model since I have never used a webcam and thought I probably didn't need the extra battery time. I've had the PC for less than 24 hours, but already I'm in love. Even my wife (who thinks I have too many toys) was smitten by the design and the size. I was unsure about upgrading to XP, but thought I'd wait till I had this little gem in my hands. Now I'm sure...no need for Windows unless this is your primary PC. I wanted a laptop that was easy to carry, easy to connect to the internet, would let me deal with my digital photography when traveling, and would let me read or edit a spreadsheet, a document or a Power Point presentation in a pinch. All things I have done effortlessly during the first day. The computer booted up in no time right out of the box. It immediately found my home wireless network and logged on. I was browsing the internet in less time than it takes to boot up my XP laptop. Today at the office, it easily found the closest wireless point and connected me in seconds. My IT colleague said, "My desktop is still running thru the boot cycle." The power supply is similar to a cel phone (not another brick) and the USB ports and SD slot immediately recognized all the devices I could throw at them (two different USB flash drives and three different SD cards). Yes, the keyborad is a little cramped and yes the screen is small (but amazingly bright and clear!), but as so many have said, this isn't the machine for Photoshop or for writing the great American novel. The touchpad is fine, once you set it to the way you like and the size and shape of the whole package just cannot be improved. So far the Linux OS is fast and will serve the purpose just fine, as well. In the late 80's I bought a real little Dell machine with a mono screen and external drives that I loved very much. I outgrew it, but have been looking for a replacement ever since. Finally I have it. Thanks ASUS! Keep up the good work. BTW, Ordered on a Friday at 3PM...delivered by Buy.com on Tuesday at Noon. Great work all around.

5 of 5 Super Cool and Super Portable Monday, March 03, 2008
rockkevinrock from St Louis, MO
I love this little laptop very much. I have a friend who referred me to some links about learning to use Linux, but honestly the learning curve on the stock Xandros OS is nothing to worry about, it's very friendly to people who are used to Microsoft Windows. The forums and tech support are extremely helpful. And lately I've started experimenting with different operating systems; I'm currently testing a customized version of Ubuntu! The Asus EeePC is extremely easy to use right out of the box. I first saw the reviews in a magazine and thought the EeePC looked like a great deal. I was surprised to find that Buy.com offered a very competitive price on this product. The order was shipped to me within a week! I'm very happy with this purchase and will definitely shop from Buy.com again and again!!! Thank you Buy.com!!!

5 of 5 I'm impressed! Sunday, February 10, 2008
rmccale from Tucson, AZ
I saw this little guy reviewed on a show I watch called "Attack of the Show". They absolutely loved it. (Which is a real testimate to a product) Being currently in the market for a new laptop to write my screenplays with, I decided to purchase one. I have to tell you, I have been pleasantly surprised. I have relatively slender fingers so the typing part is not a problem. It's very light easily transported. (not easy to find a laptop case for its size) My only problem was my writing software, it wasn't Linnox compatible. I'm good with computers so I decided to install XP. This caused me some problems because I didn't realize I had to delete ALL partitions. Once I did that, the install went fine. I installed the drivers with the included CD and everything was ready. I go to my favorite coffee shop now and can easily access the internet and get loads of writing done. I highly recommend this product.

Besides the advertised three Es, I'd like to add another one: Easy to carry around. It's very handy and very powerful considering its small size.

I am very pleased. I was worried about screen size and keyboard size. Both are adequate. The light weight and ease of use make this a very valuable tool.

5 of 5 eee PC Remarkable machine Wednesday, January 23, 2008
Jim from Miami, FL
The eee is remarkable for the price, well designed for its purpose. The only downside is the use of Linux OS, which in itself is great, but somewhat of a challenge for a Windows user. Considerable time must be spent toget the most out of the OS, but the casual user will find it fine; makes a great first computer.

5 of 5 Great small computer Monday, January 07, 2008
A Customer from Overbrook, KS
Although the programs included worked fine, I installed WinXP and MS Office. The WinXP instructions were good although I had a few hickups along the way. In the end it all worked out fine and the computer preforms quite well.

5 of 5 XP and linux Monday, December 24, 2007
A Customer from plattsburgh, ny
Great little machine, and runs like a rocket. I partitioned the internal flash drive for 1750 Mb for xp, and 3200 Mb for Ubuntu linux, and run it as a dual boot, with an 8 gb sdhc card in the card slot for my user files. On the xp partition I have Office 2003 Word, Powerpoint, and Excel, and also have Skype and Opera 9. (To get it small enough, you'll have to delete your prefetch under windows and the dllcache under windows/system32, disable your windows swap file, and turn on system restore once you've done all your installations). Ubuntu is also Debian-based, like the Xandros linux that ships with the Eee, so you can get all the same open source software that comes with the machine. The GUI is not quite as simple and elegant as the one that ships, and does not load up as fast as Asus' stripped-down linux. The only complication is in setting up the wireless card - but there are instructions on the Internet for that. By the way, I've read that Asus will now allow you to upgrade your RAM to 1gb without voiding the warranty. All in all, there is not a machine on the market that can compete for the combination of value and portability this machine offers. Since the Eee is the new gold standard, I rate it a 5 out of 5.

4 of 5 I love it! Tuesday, December 18, 2007
A Customer from Atlanta, GA
I move around a lot in my job, and this machine is perfect for that. It's so small yet powerful enough for anything that I want to do. The build quality is really high and the black looks really great and professional. Add that to the low price, and it's ability to run Windows XP, makes it a great little machine that can do nearly anything. I even play old school games on mine just for fun.

5 of 5 Good things come in small packages Wednesday, December 12, 2007
A Customer from Pasadena, CA
Bought this to use as a note taking and casual use machine. The Linux OS is incredible feature rich and easy to use. Almost too easy. Old dogs hate new tricks so I threw Win XP on it, Office standard and trillian. ALL fits with almost a gig left on the SSD. I also put a 4 gig SD in the storage slot for files. I also upgraded the RAM to 1 gig (voiding warranty) but well worth it from a performance standpoint. Incredibly lightweight and fast. Although my major complaint is with the battery and wireless performance. Both could be tons better. Anyone looking for a note taking or internet machine (not a primary machine) should consider this. Very good value!
