5 of 5 Nice and light Friday, December 19, 2008 Ed S from Boca Raton, FL
Great little laptop. Has pretty good performance on Windows XP. Tried Ubuntu Eee Linux distro, and seems to have better performance (go figure!!). Very happy with this little netbook. Will be traveling with it this Christmas to see how well it holds up! Was this review helpful?

I have just received my new Asus and after waiting for weeks for Buy.com to restock it. the wait was all worth it. It's ligth and great for just surfing. I was going to get a different one, but I couldn't be happier. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 So cheap and light = great for traveling Wednesday, November 26, 2008 Dana K from Washington, DC
I bought this laptop right after my old one crashed. I got it the day before I left and had it setup and working within a few hours. It's still hard to adjust to the smaller screen and the right-hand shift is smaller, but this is ideal for traveling. I've already taken it on 2 trips and it's so easy to whip out of the soft case for airport security. I'm glad I paid extra for the bluetooth capability. I will be investing in a USB DVD drive soon. 5 of 5 Great secondary PC! Sunday, November 16, 2008 A Customer from eastampton, NJ
The Asus EEE PC 1000H is a great buy for those looking for a secondary PC for basic tasks. I mainly browse the web, stream videos, and type word documents. There is plenty of hard drive space as well as compared to the sold state based notebooks. Don't fall for the hype of faster boot times with SSDs. This thing boots pretty fast, faster than my vista based gateway. XP is pretty responsive, and the keyboard is not that bad once you get used to it. The only main gripe I had with the keyboard was the right shift key, which way too small for me. The speakers are pretty much nothing either, and you will not hear much at all from them, which should be expected. However, I still would recommend this over any other netbook out there. 5 of 5 It works as advertized Saturday, November 15, 2008 Tom T from Washington, MI
The IT guys at work were really impressed. I took it to Scottsdale with me and it is all you need for trips. The 10" screen is large enough for any type of viewing. and the resolution is great. I am not a small guy (240 lbs)but I could use the ASUS 1000 on the table tray even with the seat in front of me all the way back. The wireless worked great at the hotel and the 5 hour battery life was better then I thought considering my unit has a 160GB HD. I bought an 8GB stick and that was all I needed. Just remember that there is no DVD or CD drive but I do not use them anymore on any of my computers. You can plug a good headphone set into the unit and get great sound. This 10" computer has taken the place of my 17" laptop. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Well Worth The Cost Saturday, November 15, 2008 A Customer from Plaquemine, La
This little machine is well worth the cost. It has perform perfectly right out of the box. I connected to my wireless network with no problems. I plugged it into my wired hub and used the CD drive on my desktop to load my software on it. Again, it came right up with no problems. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Small but powerful Saturday, November 15, 2008 Wm. W. Gorman, Jr. from Treasure Island, Florida
This small computer is an ideal one for traveling yet it has a top-of-the-line processor and a 160gb hard drive----a hard drive larger than many full size computers. I'm able to put the unit in its carrying case in my camera bag. And, better yet, it comes with Windows XP. No fooling around with Vista here.
Although the computer is small the keyboard is easy to use and does not feel cramped. The screen resolution is clear.
The unit does not come with a CD/DVD drive but one is easily added as an accessory item which can use one of the three USB ports. The touch pad is oversized for a notebook and it easy to use. There is an ethernet port and an external display connection for using on your desktop.
The battery life is over three hours and adequate for working most of the way on a cross country flight. I found the memory enough to handle even the most complex engineering programs. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good for the Price Saturday, November 08, 2008 A Customer from Minneapolis, MN
Very light weight and portable. Best bang for the buck. I use it while moving around in my house or when visiting a coffee shop. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 awesome mobile pc Saturday, November 08, 2008 A Customer from chicago, il
solid feel, keyboard is firm, not plasticy.
some have complained about the layout not having a right shift in the expected place... never use it myself so not a problem. an easy keyboard to blind touch type, and the delete key is up in the right corner so you can find it by feel, in the dark.
teamed this with a 2gb memory stick and a blue tooth optical mouse.. now I'll never need to be away from a pc, again.
for surfing/running msoffice.. the atom cpu does not slow me down at all. six hours on first full charge, and I have not even experimented with the power save modes.
this netbook has wildly exceeded my expectations. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 This is a great netbook! Friday, November 07, 2008 Jason from St. Louis, MO
After researching and comparing the Acer One, MSI Wind, and Eee PC, I sold my Dell notebook and bought the Eee PC 1000H. Although I thought the Acer and the MSI were slightly sexier looking on the outside, the Eee PC has slight hardware advantages. Origianlly, I was considering the Eee PC 901 but realized that I would either need smaller hands or to adopt a hunt and peck typing method. Until keyboards are no longer required for computing, the 1000H is the smallest keyboard possible in order to maintain your fingers in the comfortable home row position. However, the only quirky thing is the right shift key, which is smaller and located further to the side of the keyboard than the left shift key. Not a major issue but requires some adjustment. The 1000H has a wider rectangular track pad with individual right and left click buttons, whereas the other models have a smaller square size track pad and single button that rocks right and left to click. Also, the 1000H comes with Dolby SoundRoom speakers that provide better than average sound for netbook sized speakers. The 1.3 megapix cam is what I expected and works nice for Skyping. The 10" LCD display is bright and crisp. The 6-cell battery is a must have. The Eee PC 1000H comes with Windows XP but I replaced it with Ubuntu 8.10 and the Array.org eee-pc kernel (even better). All in all, the Asus Eee PC 1000H is a solid netbook with a great combination of hardware. I'd highly recommend to anyone. Was this review helpful?
