Read other reviews before buying. Agree with other owners that this machine is a good buy for the money. Perfect for my application. The small screen is amazing easy on the eyes, great resolution. Appreciated that one didn't have to have Vista pre-installed. Was this review helpful?

I have a Dell 17" that would wear you out taking thru the airport, this thing you don't even know you are carring it
I blew away all the free softwear on it to make more room for what I use. It's great and would reccomend to anyone looking for a smaller laptop.
it is a little small to sit on your leg, it wobbles, need a book to sit it on Was this review helpful?

I really enjoy this laptop. The performance was slightly lacking but I expected this. Also, the battery life is awesome on this, 5-6 hrs depending on settings. I installed Ubuntu EEE Linux and it seems to work well. The wifi has problems but there is enough help out there to get it working. Also, the battery life on Linux isn't as good as Windows, yet... EeePC 1000H. Works very well. Prior to purchasing I read many of the reviews. Three issues that caught my eye were "cheap keyboard", "battery gets hot", and "noisy. Too, prior to purchasing I found a 9.8 Aspire on display. It's keyboard was CHEEZY and this is what I expected to get also.

The keyboard is fine, not at all like the Aspire. Noise... I can't hear it. The battery... yeah, it gets warm, but I use my notebook case as a lap desk so I never notice.

AND... there was a comment about the right shift key being in an awkward place, that is true and very annoying. Learning to work with it though.

The performance is better then I imagined. Too, I like the quick access keys to adjust screen size, contrast, sound, power mode, etc.

The battery is lasting 5+hrs consistantly with the wifi on all the time and the screen at about half briteness (I haven't needed to turn it beyound that).

Lastly, I was prepared to purchase MS Office since nowhere did I see these or similar tools would be loaded. Open Office was already installed. So, again, my expectations were exceeded. Was this review helpful?

This laptop is the best buy of the year, at least for me. In a couple of months, the price may go even lower. But even for the present price range, this laptop will provide you all the essential elements of a travel notebook. Its size is easy on packing, its functality will get you all the work done (i.e. online surfing, movie watching, composition writing, etc, etc.) The one minor problem I mostly concerned is the display resolution setting; it is either not high enough or too high that needed to scroll up and down. A future patch may correct that.
