Have been using it for over 2 yrs now. Works great. I found the following 2 minor issues with it (Thatst why I rated it 4)
a) Can't Play PAL VCDs
b) Unable to find remotes codes so I can program my universal remote to control this DVD player.
Other than these2 features, Its great. I especially love the feature where I can skip through the initial ADs/previews & go straight to Movie. (its hidden in extra buttons using Intro feature) Was this review helpful?

I just got this in the mail today 9/23/2005. I called Aspire and they told me how to make it region free. Hit the open button,leave door open, hit setup, go to preferences(right arrow button 4 times), type in 1389 (not 1379-that is for older players). A new screen will show up. Push the arrow button down one time till the region is 0. Push setup. This is working great for me. If it does not work, unplug the DVD player and try again(I had to do this because I tried so many other codes). Was this review helpful?

This DVD player reads almost any DVD and VCD disks, plus, it handles MPEG and MPEG-2 files written on recordable CDs and DVDs. The remote is little bit inconvenient, but you will get used to it very soon. Was this review helpful?

You won't find a finer dvd player at this price! I haven't found 1 thing wrong with it and I've had it well over a year. Sharp picture, great sound and plays everything I've played on it so far, including mp3s and jpegs. Booklet is easy to understand. It's gotten rough treatment from my cats too. 1) Press open/close key;
2) When it starts to open, press 9735; you will see an interface;

I bought this player a few months ago with very low expectations given the low price. Was I surprised! It is simple to use and the picture is good. I have tried DVDs, Photo CD, MP3, VCD, CD, and CD+G (Karaoke) and it read them all without problem. I even tried a PAL format DVD, and I could still see something on my NTSC TV. The karaoke mic volume is limited but you can still sing along reasonably well. My daughter wants to take it away as she goes to college. I guess I will have to pay another $41 for a new one! When I bought this, I just needed an inexpensive DVD player with a display. I was surprised at all the extras. The unit has a 5.1 decoder built-in. I just so happened to have a receiver that was 5.1 ready. The set-up is a little tricky if you don't use it for 5.1, but I guess you;ll just have to read the manual :-) All-in-all, I am very happy with this unit. Was this review helpful?

I bought this player about one month ago to my parentes that lives in Brazil (region 4). I have seen in internet that there is a hack to unlock the region code but unfortunatelly it did not work. So, it is only playing region 1 movies.
Be ware that this player do not have mic input, although it can play CD+G karaoke discs.

Just got this player from Buy.com. Tried player with my HDTV projection TV. Picture looks great, but some DVDs I tried (Matrix, Spiderman, Kill Bill) causes the pictures to be distorted at certain times. Audio seems to intermittently go off for a split second using the coaxial output. Well, I guess you get what you pay for. Was this review helpful?

I just got this on this sale. I tested all combinations, and it works great in all aspects. Good value for the money.
I can play MP3, Data CDS, NTFS and lot many.
Only thing is that my PSCAN is not yet configured correctly to test this setup. Will do that some times later.. Was this review helpful?
