5 of 5 Small high res network cam 5/26/2010
Misty from Clayton, California
It is a small and excellent price. Quite easy to install with multiple browser enable plus I can peek at Iphone with crystal clear image.
Wireless seems working as good as I can image. It was some throughput issue after I replaced the router and it show the full speed.
The night vision can see OK level - short distance unfortunately. Well if long distance we won't get this at this price. No complain.

3.7 of 5 Not bad for the price 2/5/2010
Professor from Folsom, CA
I purchased this camera figuring for a 100 dollars I wasn't risking much.
--- The Good: (1) 1.3 megapixel camera at this price is unheard of
(2)rich feature set is impressive
(3) easy of use and setup are exceptional
(4) Internet accessible, but not with an iPhone
(5) You can use a Windows XP PC as a DVR to save your images and video clips
--- The bad:
(1) This is a version 1 product.
(2) As with most low priced infrared cameras, the color rendering is off.
(3) Infrared light is inadequate for distances over 15 feet.
(4) The motion detection is a joke, but with a bit of work and technical savvy you can use it third party software such as zoneminder . I place the camera in an area with very little activity and within an 8 hour time period, the camera picked up over 200 events. I tweaked the configuration by reducing zone size and sensitivity and I was able to reduce the number of event to about 100 in the same time frame. In both cases, there was less than five legitimate events.
(5) The image is fuzzy around the edges.
(6) The are two security flaws in the camera. The first being that you can telnet into the camera OS using port 801. The user ID is root and there is no password. The second flaw is the if you run the serverreport.asp script and it dumps a lot of interesting information about the camera include the pre shared key (PSK) in clear text that is used to attached to your wireless home network.
(7) Software does not work well with Windows 7.
(8) Cannot save images or video clips to a Windows 7 or Vista PC unless you setup an FTP or SAMBA server.
--- Conclusion:
If you are looking for a toy, this is a good one. If you are looking for a good camera, you'll have to spend three times the price or more to get the same feature set. With most version one products, you expect some problems. I talked with Asente technical support and I was told that the version 2 camera is being worked on and will include additional features such as the ability to view it with an iPhone. I hope they fix the security flaws with the next release or with a firmware update.

4.3 of 5 Good day/night camera 12/17/2009
Jas NYC from NYC
Good camera for day and night use, many setup options and able to stream and view remotely (can watch and talk to my cats from the office). Unfortunately Asante tech support is poor, promised to get back to me re Vista 64 setup issue, still waiting for response. Camera software does work with Vista 64.

4.3 of 5 Nice IP Cam, especially for the price 12/2/2009
Jodeemac from NC
Camera has lots of setup options. Good quality picture and sound. The only problem I have is the motion detect seems to be overly sensitive even in lowest mode. But with multiple motion windows and sized this can be worked around.

5 of 5 Excellent price for day & night Camera 10/8/2009
Bryan from Greenville, IL
It is small - solid and easy to hook up and color and image are just nice. I love it. I can see it from any place even I travel.
Wireless is excellent with auto sense of signal strength and both wired and wireless and work at same time in two different subnet..
REcording seems awesome... with motion detection features well.
