 Editor's Note
Michael Bay, the master of the big-budget blockbuster, directs this action film that is packed with emotion. With a planet-killing asteroid on a collision course with Earth, it's up to a motley crew of scientists and oil drillers (yes, oil drillers) to save the earth. With 18 days to impact, a team from NASA (led by Billy Bob Thornton) frantically tries to find a solution but ends up turning to an outside contractor. Harry Stamper (Bruce Willis) and his team of oilmen are called upon to save the planet as only they can. ARMAGEDDON may boast impressive special effects, but it's the cast--including Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler, Steve Buscemi, and Owen Wilson--that gives the film its humor and heart. Tyler's father Steven Tyler and his band Aerosmith contributed the Oscar-nominated hit "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" to the soundtrack.
 Plot Summary
Grossing more than 200 million dollars domestically during its initial box office run in 1998, Bay's loud, fast spectacle is a love-it or hate-it archetype of the big budget studio action film at the century's end. Made with lots of money ($140 million!), a strong cast and tons of special effects, ARMAGEDDON tells the tale of a team of oilmen called in by the president to land on a Texas-sized asteroid approaching Earth and blast it into pieces before it ends life as we know it. Huge plot holes, some of the quickest cutting seen in film, and occasionally unconvincing special effects will not deter those who approach it seeking two and a half hours of full-throttle, flag waving cinematic rush.

5 of 5 Armageddon Rocks! Monday, March 16, 2009 A Viewer from Kansas City, MO
Not only is the theme song for Armageddon haunting, the love story, father/daughter tension, and comedy with the crew assembled makes it a hit in my book! Bruce Willis, a drilling cowboy, has a daughter, Liv Tyler, that he has drug from job to job, who has fallen in love with another renegade but brilliant driller, Ben Affleck. When the crew of Steve Buscemi, Michael Clark Phillips, and other roughneck drillers give their list of demands to Billy Bob Thornton, I laughed so hard! The space scenes are fantastic! If you haven't seen this action-adventure, rent it for the whole family! Was this review helpful?

Armageddon is my favourite movie of all time! I think it has a fantastic blend of intense, edge of your seat action and emotion. Which is expertly delivered by the cast, in which Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck and Liv tyler have a great on screen relationship. Bottom line, Incredible movie! Was this review helpful?

The Cinematography is fine, but the plot flawed as well as all the aspects of 'science.' They really streteched reaches of 'science fiction' and should have just created a cartoon. Too LONG for a movie with such a weak and flawed plot. This movie lacks any credibility from the get go. You are gonna send a driller to do what NASA scientist are supposed to do? Yeah RIGHT? Not a very credible way of mocking the intellectual establishment. This movie will offend your intelligence. GO SEE CONTACT, that is a real science fiction movie! Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 I loved Armageddon Tuesday, December 07, 1999 A Viewer from Boston MA
The movie was very good. There were no slow parts and all the actors performed their parts/role very well. I was very impressed with the plot and the special effects. I greatly enjoyed this movie. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 One of the best of the disaster genre Saturday, December 04, 1999 jas from Lynbrook, NY
This was a very good movie. It has humor, suspense, heroism and tragedy. All the things that we love to see in a movie....as well as Bruce Willis, and Ben Affleck. A definate to watch more than once...in fact it is a should-own movie. I would have preferred to see another actress in the Liv Tyler role but that is a very small fault in the generally excellent casting of this movie. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 One of my Favorites Friday, October 29, 1999 Tee See from Piscataway, NJ
This is one of my favorite movies. The heroics make you wish you were one of the astronauts going into space to destroy the asteroid. If you like action and comedy, this is a must buy! Was this review helpful?
