5 of 5 Surprising... Thursday, March 08, 2007
richardallen from Jerseyville, IL

I bought this camera for a "cheap" gift. I wish I had bought two. The Argus DC5340 takes better pictures than a camera I have costing three times as much. It is pocket size, easy to use, and takes outstanding pictures. You want to be sure to have rechargable batteries though, for like most cameras that use AA batteries, the batteries go fast.

4 of 5 Good camera Tuesday, February 13, 2007
Dan from Illinois
The camera is a lot smaller than my old one and it took some getting used to. Some of the symbols are so small that they are hard to read. The instruction manual has 72 pages in English, and the same amount of pages in 3 other languages. Pretty thick. It takes really good pictures. There was a lot of confusion on this site with the discounts and rebates. I ended up with two and a SD card that I didn't get my discount on.

4 of 5 For the pirce, it's an excellent deal Sunday, February 11, 2007
A Customer from Wahiawa, HI
overall the camera is great. it take good quality pictures and is extremely easy to use. the menu and picture viewing options are extremely simple. The only porblem i have is that i'm not sure it has a delay option for taking pictures. if it does have this option, i haven't figured it out and i can't seem to find it in the owners manual. other than that i prefer it over my samsung

5 of 5 Great little camera at a great Buy.com price! Friday, February 02, 2007
John J. from Columbia, MO
I read all the reviews for this Argus camera and wasn't quite sure if I wanted to buy this model or not. After receiving it I'm really glad I purchased it! For those of you that haven't heard of Argus, they've been around since the 1930's and were the primary supplier of cameras and binoculars for the US Military during WW II, Korea, & Vietnam. The quality of the camera is excellent with lots of features found only on much more expensive models. The Argus outperforms and has 100x more fetures than my HP digital camera that I paid $25 more for. This camera is as good of quality and has as many (if not more) features than my Fuji FinePix digital that I paid $200 more for! I was looking for a camera that was small enough to carry easily instead of my much larger Fuji. The Argus works perfectly for just that. The Argus is small, excellent for using as a everyday point-and-shoot digital camera. It even comes with a small carying case that attaches to your belt if you don't want to carry it in your pocket. I was most impressed that it comes with a set of NiMH rechargable batteries! I was expecting a couple of alkalines in the box that last about 30 minutes. Ease of use is simple when the camera is in "Auto" mode but you have all the options of more sophisticated picture taking with the manual modes. There's a myriad of different settings you can choose from for lighting, settings, etc. It's features and picture quality rival cameras costing much, much more. The User Manual is straight-forward and well written, not hard to understand if you know a little about digital cameras and photography. I chose the "Free shipping" at checkout that usually takes a few days longer than the "standard" shipping and I still received the camera in only 3 days! Overall it's an excellent little camera and you can't beat the Buy.com price!

5 of 5 What a pleasant surprise! Friday, February 02, 2007
James B. from Upstate New York
Very nice little camera -- solid, well made, and easy to use. Photos are good with the factory settings, however, you'll want to read the owner's manual (which is also easy to use) in order to adjust picture sharpness, color saturation, etc., to get to best picture possible. The optical viewfinder is a bit too small, but still nice to have when the batteries get low. About the batteries: As others have said, the camera goes through them surprisingly fast. Fortunately, the folks at Argus include two Ni-MH rechargeables in the box. You'll still need to get a recharger and extra set of batteries so you're always ready to go.

3 of 5 Just getting Started and it's a good Camera Thursday, January 11, 2007
Debbie from Newburgh, IN
This is my first digetal camera and its been great for starting. The only thing I see as a down fall is how quickly the batteries run down. I really thank I will love the camera once I get to know it better.

5 of 5 Best $56.00 I have ever spent Tuesday, December 12, 2006
A Customer from Hilliard, OH
I am highly impressed with this camera for the amount of money I spent. Better cameras can be had for around 100.00, but I couldn't turn down this deal, and I am glad I purchased it. Fast shipping from buy.com was a plus as well. The sharpness and detail on digital pics are both great.

5 of 5 Great Little Camera! A SLEEPER! Sunday, December 10, 2006
toledotom from Toledo, Ohio
Upon opening box I said,"looks like a really cheap camera". Boy was I wrong! Takes GREAT pictures and the viewing screen is Beautiful! Never seen a screen so sharp and huge! Setup is easy, just follow the owner's manual. 3x Optical is nice and using the 4X digital zoom is really nice, you can't beat the 5.0 megapixels. I wish I would have bought 5 of them for stocking stuffers. Great price on Buy.com with Google checkout. A Really BIG fooler here! Can't comment on battery use. I put in 2 AA Energizer Titanium Batteries and they seem to be holding up a long time.

4 of 5 good value... but battery Saturday, December 09, 2006
A Customer from L.A.
The camera is a super value for the money. The body is small, light and sturdy. The old-style menu looks dull, but is actually very easy to use. For me, the only shortcoming is from the AA batteries. No, you can't use a 3v rechargeable lithium instead. Therefore, expect to carry a large bag of batteries on long trips.

4 of 5 Nice Digital Camera Wednesday, November 29, 2006
A Customer from Kennewick, WA
This Argus camera is the second I have owned and so far has served very practical, especially for the price. I like the 2" view screen and also the fact that I was given two rechargeable batteries to begin with. Nice carrying case. I will probably keep this one for a few years.

4 of 5 Don't Buy at Reg. Price, but... Saturday, October 28, 2006
Not disappointed, but had realistic expectations. from Arizona
On sale or with a rebate, not a bad deal. Got mine for under $50 after rebate, sale price. Same report as previous review. Good for 2nd camera, don't need to worry about getting ruined, compact/slim, takes SD cards, 5 MP is nice, but can't move too much (slow shutter speed) on stills, video is so-so. If looking for a starter for 1st time user, child, or backup (i.e., for when you go on outings that could damage the camera), not a bad buy if you get it for a good price, not regular price. :)

5 of 5 Great Value for the Money! Friday, July 28, 2006
A Customer from San Jose, CA
For the money this is a great digital camera. It looks and works a lot like a Pentax I had a year ago. I am not normally an off brand shopper but this one has worked out very well. I have recommended it to friends. It takes a great picture and is a great second camera for vacations etc..
