If all you care about is getting analog video from a DVD player or DVR via composite cables, then this unit is fine (the analog video looks pretty good on the 3.5" screen of my Archos 404 anyway - who needs HD quality on a 3.5" screen!). I haven't tried outputting video to a TV with this adapter.
It's strange though that this unit doesn't come with an AC wall plug adapter, though the input port for that is on the unit...I had to buy one on eBay for $6 and that allows charging while recording, which cures the main problem with this adapter. Was this review helpful?

Bought the Archos 500875 DVR travel adapter for my Archos 604wifi 30gb. It works like a charm. Got to record some old home movies into the 604wifi. Easy to hook up and remove. Just pull from the far right end and off it goes. Got an A/C adapter to have it charging while recording. I got the 604wifi for my traveling,but wanted an easy and economical way of recording from my camcorder and vcr. Got this at less than half the price with buy.com credit card promotion.
