5 of 5 Love This PVR Thursday, May 17, 2007
Gigi from Dallas, TX

I have now had mine for 1.5 years and have used it every single day! I can't live with out it, it I record movies, download music, pictures, and keep my backup files and portable files on it! I is SOOOO easy to use. I really wanted to use it for movies, but I rely on it for just about everything. I considered this and the IPOD video but the IPOD requires so much more work plus you can not record what ever you want. You have to download from their store.

5 of 5 Does it all... great for travel Tuesday, October 25, 2005
Ed from Jackson, NJ
Went on vacation and loaded a bunch of my 10 mth old son's DVD's = entertained him in the airport and on the tv in our room. My wife put a few audio books on it and I had some TV shows loaded. Worked great... even in Europe (220v). When we got home, loaded some vacation video and pictures and took it around to show people...on thier tv's. I think the controls are layed out well and you'll get used to the menu quickly or connect it to your computer and use your mouse to sort the files. A great alternative to a VCR I record all my late night shows now on this. I also have the radio remote option and it works well.

4 of 5 Nice, but a few flaws. Thursday, September 01, 2005
A Customer from des moines,ia
Nice display. Long battery life. Removable battery. However, only plays Divx .avi video files. A real shame it cant play mpeg1 & 2 also. You have to use included programs, and find-download divx codes yourself, to be able to convert mpeg to divx. Not a deal breaker, but certainly a hassel. My biggest gripe, the unit has no stand. You either have to pay more to order a case/stand, or hold it in you hand to view. Why Archos couldnt add a 50 cent plastic fold-out stand to the back is a mystery. I made due by taking some carboard, bending it into a "V" shape, and taping it to the back as a stand. With that said, its a nice gadget. Battery life gives at least 4 hours of video playback. Not bad!

4 of 5 Archos AV420 Wednesday, July 27, 2005
A Customer from Milwaukee, WI
I purchased this product with the intended use of offloading pictures from my digital camera to the Archos device in the field. It works GREAT! Transfers are fast (even with pictures taken at full resolution at 8 megapixel). Playback of the full-screen thumbnail images is slow, but that's not overly important to me. You can display 4 or 9 thumbnail images on the screen at once and the draw speed is just fine. I have run across a couple pictures that when I try to display them in full screen thumbnail mode I get a "picture size is too big" error. Again, not a big deal for how I use it. .mp3 capabilities are nice. I haven't found how to random play (I'm sure the option is there somewhere) but I really don't use this device as my full-time .mp3 player. Other than that, battery life seems very good, I sent in for the free battery offer, still waiting to receive it. I haven't used the device to record yet, that's something I'm hoping to tackle relatively soon. Overall, I really like this device...it's fast, has a great looking display...it does seem a bit pricey though in my opinion.

5 of 5 Crazy Cool Product Thursday, January 13, 2005
A Customer from New York, NY
Thought being on the bleeding edge would be painfull w/ this product, however, it's been plug and record and play. It's like owning a mini portable tivo. I set it to record The Daily Show and BBC News each night and have something to watch if I don't feel like just listening to tunes on the morning train ride. If you charge it each night in the docking station you don't need the extra battery. I'd also suggest the bigger HD version.
