I bought this for my wife, who travels to Europe extensively with her job. The menu buttons take some getting used to, but after a little experience, navigation is easy. The picture is superb--very bright and crisp--and the size is great for viewing, even for two. I have transferred about 30 movies to her Archos and it is about half full. She also has transferred quite a few photos to it and they also view beautifully. I concur with the comment about the built-in speaker, but really who uses one? With a good set of earphones the sound is great! I would highly recommend getting the docking adapter so you can charge it quickly and also you can use it to transfer any type of video: DVD, camcorder, TV, etc to the Archos, as well as use the Archos as a player to watch your videos on a TV. There are RCA, component video and S-video outputs on the docking station. The battery life has been enough to watch two movies on a charged battery, but another great feature is that the battery is removable, unlike an iPod, so you can carry an extra battery if you want to watch a lot of videos between recharges. Overall the Archos 504 has been great and my wife LOVES it! Was this review helpful?

The documentation/instructions are not the best. Once I figured out how to load movies it was easy, I can't seem to fill up the drive. I have so far loaded 25 movies and about 30 albums and still have a lot of drive space left. The video playback quality is great. The on board speaker isn't the best.
Complaints: better documentation and include the AC adapter/charger. I purchased the docking adapter and do all my file trasfers with the AC adapter plugged in. Battery life is great with audio, so-so with video.
