 | Apple iPod touch 16GB Review By: Rob Mead - techradar.com Reviews Published on: 10/3/2007 2:25 PM | | It seems churlish to have to say this, but first and foremost the iPod touch is a music and video player. It's arguably the best iPod that Apple has ever made. The multi-touch interface is delightful to use, and gives you easy access to your favourite albums and songs using Cover Flow, which enables you to scroll through your albums using its artwork.

 | Apple iPod touch Review Brighthand.com Published on: 10/9/2007 6:07 PM | | The iPod touch is the newly released widescreen media player from Apple, which shares the same multitouch screen as the iPhone. But the phrase "media player" only begins to describe what it can do. Its multitouch screen gives the user more control over the device, allowing for a more natural input without the need for a stylus commonly seen on other touchscreen devices....read the full review | |

I got the iPod touch for Christmas. I was thrilled, until I attempted to connect it to my PC. I custom-built my PC, and I used Windows Vista-64 Home Premium. I haven't had a problem with the OS until now. Apparently, the iPod touch (or the iPhone for that matter) doesn't support 64-bit Vista systems. I've had to dual-boot my system and boot into an 32-bit version of Windows XP just to sync and charge my iPod.
Other than this glaring flaw, its a beautiful media player. The interface is stellar, and the music and videos are nice to listen to and to watch.
Although, I must say, Apple handicapped this device quite a bit. No e-mail, weather, or map applications? Add to this the lack of an external speaker and a camera, and you begin to see how much you're getting shafted in the features department. One application that really comes through is the Safari browser. It is the best mobile browser I've seen to date. However, that being said, the WiFi capability seems to be just a gimmick so you can use iTunes on the device to buy more music. And if you live in a technological dead zone like I do, the WiFi is all but useless outside of your house, where you have your home PC.
Overall, if you're looking for an iPod with a touch screen and don't have much media to put on the device, look no further. You've found your dream machine. However, if you're looking for something with more functionality than just a media player, or you own a Vista 64-bit system, look elsewhere. Was this review helpful?

First off this is the best iPod so far. People who complain about memory size are crazy.. How much music, video, and picture do you need in your pocket? Now the touch interface is awesome, a very neat and fun thing to just sit around and play with. The Audio and Video play back is pretty good, specially from some one who isn't a video or music "NUT" I don' need hi-def video and sound in my pocket (all though I love it on my 46" Samsung LCD) This thing is so easy to use in a matter of minutes my 4 year old knew where to find the music, the video and the pictures I had loaded on it. As for "Memory" I picked up the 16 gig version and I currently have 400 songs (I only listen to may 80 on a regular basis) I have 4 full length movies and 5 or 6, 20 minute episodes of "Family Guy" 300 pictures of my wife and two daughters and still have room for a little more (I think I am at 10 gig out of 16 total space) and I can always flip music, video and pictures when at home on my computer. You can only use to much.. Even if I fly coast to coast I currently have 10 hours of video and the flight is only 4 - 5 hours from New York to L.A. and I got probably 20 hours of music to boot. So 16 gig is plenty for me and the wireless internet browser is a ton of fun except almost every where you go (In public) wants to charge you to use their wifi network (at least in my area they do, McDonalds wanted $2.95 for 2 hours use.. Like I am going to spend 2 hours in McDonalds to start with) Some places you can pick it up but for the most part I have a wifi network in my home so I could surf the web while watching TV with out having to lug my laptop around..
over all... AWESOME.. a little pricey since you can get a decent laptop with 80 - 120 gig and wifi for about $500 at Best Buy and this iPod is $400....
