I bought & installed a replacement battery for my RS 1500I (RBC33) & Powerchute still thought I needed to replace it when doing a Self-Test.
On the Self-Test page there is a battery icon, click on it & it will prompt you to update your battery's replacement date.
Now i'm good to go until I upgrade my machine. Currently supports 30 minutes. At that time I'll add the BR24BP RS 1500 addon battery pack. Giving me an 1 1/2 hours current usage (350 watts & about 30 minutes at 800 watts. Was this review helpful?

Computer started misbehaving.Possibly software conflicts with the installed program from APC.Tried to order from APC directly but they kept on steering me to buy a whole new battery back up instead of battery replacement. Found the same replacement at Buy.com with free shipping.Read the instructions for replacement. Boy it is heavy.Also came with a UPS return box to recycle the old battery. Timely delivery also for free shipping.Computer works fine. The previous battery (original) lasted about 3 years.Lets see how much this new replacement lasts.Probably will buy a new computer by that time. Was this review helpful?

Genuine APC replacement battery for my Smart UPS 500U. It fits, works and does what it's supposed to. My available battery time went from 1 minute (on my 5 year old battery) to 32 minutes. I'm happy.
Plus, they provide a prepaid return shipping label to send back your old battery for recycling.
My only nit pick is with APC's software. There is not a way to tell PowerChute that you have replaced the battery. You have to wait for it to prompt you to buy a replacement in order to tell it that you have already done it. Was this review helpful?

For those who don't want to spend the money on a new APC UPS, this is the way to go. It is really easy to replace the battery and APC provides a pre-paid package to send the old battery back for recyling. the replacement battery kit includes the battery (probably the end result of a recycling operation), a box, and a prepaid return label so you can send your near-dead battery back to the recycling plant. i had 5 ups devices, ordered 5 batteries, and replaced them all without a problem. well, one replacement was missing a small plastic piece (near a power connector), but i simply swapped one from a battery i was sening back and i was fine - they just stick to the battery using some foam tape. this was an eco-friendly way to refresh some ups devices. my old batteries lasted a few years before they started to fail too early in power outages. i can't remark on how the new batteries work in a power outage - haven't had one yet - but when i flip the switch, the lights come on like they should.
