Additionally, surge protection, battery backup, automatic voltage regulation (AVR) and award-winning management software make the Back-UPS RS 1300 LCD ideal solution for protecting home and business users from data loss caused by power problems.
The Back-UPS RS 1300 LCD offers high performance protection for your home and business computer systems. This unit provides abundant battery back up power, allowing users to work through medium and extended power outages with runtimes of up to 136 minutes, depending on the units' load. With eight outlets, six with battery backup and two with surge protection only, the Back-UPS RS also safeguards equipment from damaging surges and spikes that travel along utility, phone and coax cable lines.
The Back-UPS RS series features AVR, which adjusts low voltages to safe levels, so consumers can work indefinitely during brownouts. In addition, APC's PowerChute Personal Edition software gracefully powers down the computer system automatically in the event of an extended power outage. A distinctive feature of the BR1300LCD is the liquid crystal display (LCD) visual indicators and audible alarms, which makes it easy for the user to operate the unit.

APC has put together a nice UPS in the RS 1300. It has excellent reserve power and even some minimal load regulation built in. With the LCD info only a button away, you are never left wondering if you have any battery life left if the power were to fail. When working with critical data it is a nice peace of mind feature. If you are running multiple monitors with your PC, this unit will provide enough running time to wrap up applications and save all data to allow for shut down in the event power isn't back on in a short period of time. Unlike many others that throw you into panic mode if the power blinks off. Was this review helpful?

This unit is a bit smaller and much lighter in weight than the unit it replaces - and it provides more reserve power. The front panel displays the load and the battery charge levels and can be set to show one additional value such as input voltage persentageof full load, watts being drawn, number of power faults, etc.
I have not had a power problem since installing the unit so I cannot speak to its performance during a power failure. But this is my 6th UPS from APC and expect it will perform as well as the others have. Was this review helpful?

It's black, quite heavy, but you'll never know it's there unless you trip over it. The screen dims when not in use, and you push a button for it to pop up with all the pertinent details: load, battery state, battery life.
