Bought this after having problems with power company interruptions at home. I now have stereo and TV protected from interruptions. Should have bought long ago. Used to have basic power strip, but this protects equipment much better, and is expected to extend electrical component life by reducing electrical signal fluctuations / "stress". Recommend going through all setup menus to become familiar with options. Had to change to LOW sensitivity from default factory MED sensitivity setting to eliminate frequent alarms (investigating issue with power company). Not sure about battery replacement interval, but prefer battery over non-battery option to avoid having to reset equipment after power outage. Should have bought this long ago. Peace of mind now that it is in place. High cost, but best price at Buy.com, but price will pay for itself with one TV repair bill - I know, I had to have my TV repaired, which is why I bought J15BLK ! Also have APC BX1500LCD for my PC. APC makes good products, and Buy.com sells them at a good price.

After purchasing a completly new AV system including 46" LCD TV, AV Receiver, PS3, and DirecTV DVR I started feeling uneasy about all the ways lightning could get into them. There is ethernet, phone, two satellite cables, OTA antenna cable, and power. This unit provides protection for all of these connections effectivly isolating my new components. Add the fact that this unit also provides emergency power and you have one complete power conditioner. Note that the ethernet connection is for protection not network connectivity.
With everything on the LCD show 11-13 minutes of backup power. Turn off the PS3 and I have 20 minutes. With all but the DirecTV DVR off it provides almost 2 hours of backup (LCD display not tested). The internal battery is very large and custom. You won't be able to buy a standard shaped battery to replace this one. Did I mention very heavy and well built?
Buy.com had the best price on the internet by a long shot.
The only thing I don't like is the front panel LEDs are bright and can't be turned off. The LCD backlight can be turned off but that still leaves the 4 status LEDs and the big Power Button ring light.
