Editor's Note

ANNIE: red-haired mop-top orphan Annie (Aileen Quinn), yearning to break out of her dreary life in an orphanage run by an iron-fisted, boozy matron (Carol Burnett), charms billionaire Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks (Albert Finney) into adopting her. It turns out that what she really wants however, is to find her real parents. This classic children's movie scored two Academy Award Nominations, including Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, and Best Original Score.

ANNIE: ROYAL ADVENTURE: That red-headed orphan is back in this made-for-TV movie based on the classic Harold Gray comic strip. This time she and her faithful canine pal Sandy are up to hijinks in jolly olde England after Daddy Warbucks is called over to be knighted by the Queen.

Professional Reviews
Chicago Sun-Times 7 of 10
[Annie] In the abstract, Annie is fun. It has lots of movement and color, dance and music, sound and fury. In the particular, it has all sorts of problems, and I guess the only way to really enjoy the movie is to just ignore the particulars. - Roger Ebert
