This College Essentials DVD collection includes three films fit for scholars and slackers alike. Anatomy 101 focuses on sex education with movies to stimulate the mind and body: SHOWGIRLS, SEX AND THE TEENAGE MIND, and THE GIRL NEXT DOOR!

SHOWGIRLS: Shocking. Titillating. "Glittery [and] gleefully vulgar" (Dayton Daily News)! From the creators of Basic Instinct comes SHOWGIRLS, an "instant camp classic" (The New York Times) and a spectacularly lusty film experience no one should miss!

SEX AND THE TEENAGE MIND: Steamy, sexy and hilariously funny, this raucous new comedy navigates the uncharted wilderness of the teenage mind, where hormones run rampant and libidos run amuck!

THE GIRL NEXT DOOR: Emile Hirsch and Elisha Cuthbert get busy shaking things up for a group of sheltered high school seniors in this "witty, wickedly sexy" (Access Hollywood) comedy about growing up fast and going all the way!

"[Girl] Once in a very long while, a truly memorable romantic teen comedy comes along. The Girl Next Door is one."  Jami Bernard, New York Daily News
"[Showgirls] Sleek seductiveness...a world of exoticism and danger..."  Janet Maslin, The New York Times
"[Girl] An exceptionally well-written script, full of unexpected turns and clever reversals, and a trio of deft actors in the principal roles."  Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle
"[Showgirls] ...Berkley has a fierce energy that's always interesting."  Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
"[Showgirls] Who knew such a seamy swim in the misogynistic swill of life could be so entertaining?"  Susan Wloszczyna, USA Today

Professional Reviews
DVD Verdict 7 of 10
[Showgirls] Only in cinema can a bad movie actually be good because of it. Showgirls, for better or worse, is one of these movies...Director Paul Verhoeven (Hollow Man, Basic Instinct, RoboCop) and screenwriter Joe Eszterhas (Basic Instinct, Flashdance, Jagged Edge) collaborated yet again on the 1995 film Showgirls, which got a lot of press because of the recently adopted NC-17 rating it was branded with. While this pairing of writer and director has produced films with impact and energy before, with Showgirls, the elements never really came together...Amid this, however, Showgirls has also achieved fairly solid cult status as a genre hit favored for the wealth of character actors that make appearances...There are some interesting performances buried in the flick, and some great lines. There's also quite a bit of skin, which can have its own appeal to some audience members. Fun for everyone. - David Rogers

ReelViews 8 of 10
[Girl] The Girl Next Door builds up enough good will during its successful first half that we're willing to forgive some of the strange and disappointing convolutions the plot takes us through during the final 45 minutes. There are two primary reasons why it's not hard to recommend this likeable (albeit raunchy) romantic comedy: director Luke Greenfield and his screenwriters have a genuine feel of what it's like to be a high school outsider, and it's been a long time since there has been as appealing a young couple as Emile Hirsch and Elisha Cuthbert...The Girl Next Door runs into a few potholes during its second half, which requires the plot to go through all sorts of contortions to prevent Matthew and Danielle from finding happiness too early. So we get scenes with the creepy Kelly, the even creepier porn kingpin Hugo Posh (James Remar), Matthew's ecstasy-enhanced speech about "moral fiber" and sacrifice, and a prom night to remember...In a way, maybe that's what the pairing of these two is, because it's hard not to be rooting for Matthew and Danielle to reach the finish line arm-in-arm, with hands clasped and lips locked. - James Berardinelli

Variety 6 of 10
[Showgirls] The only positive thing there is to say about "Showgirls" is that the sensibility of the film perfectly matches that of its milieu. Impossibly vulgar, tawdry and coarse, this much-touted major studio splash into NC-17 waters is akin to being keelhauled through a cesspool, with sharks swimming alongside...Yes, the picture is awash in nudity, but crudity is more the operative word. Virtually all the human exchanges in the film are sexualized in some debasing manner, and these are between people who in every other way don't even like each other. "Sell, sell your bodies," the show producer shouts at his dancers, and sex-as-commodity is definitely the overriding theme here, for no one more than the filmmakers...Verhoeven has directed many hot sequences in his career, but none of them are in this film, which just flaunts sex without eroticizing it. The film, like Vegas, is just about the Big Sell...Tech contributions are suitably gaudy and ostentatious. - Todd McCarthy
