| | | | AMD Athlon X2 dual-core processors put the power of dual-core technology on the desktop. Dual-core processors contain two processing cores, residing on one chip, that perform calculations on two streams of data to increase efficiency and speed while running multiple programs and the new generation of multi-threaded software. For end-users this means a significant increase in response and performance when running multiple applications simultaneously.
Productivity in todays workplace requires smooth, efficient and seamless multi-tasking. AMD Athlon X2 dual-core processors deliver TRUE multi-tasking, allowing users to switch from one program to another without always pausing for the computer to catch up and reducing annoying processing pauses.
Digital media software demands simultaneous processing of data streams, the perfect use for the incredible multi-tasking power of AMD64 dual-core technology. Dual-core technology is like having two processors working together, each one taking care of different applications, so power-users can actually experience greater performance when multiple applications are running. Digital media enthusiasts can usher in the next generation of digital media software for amazing high-definition video and photo editing, content creation, and audio mixing. With an AMD Athlon X2 dual-core processor, your PC can perform up to 80% faster than an AMD Athlon 4000+ processor on the latest power-hungry digital media software applications.

5 of 5 Great, if you use computers to compute Wednesday, June 04, 2008 A Customer from Provo, UT
A premise: Believe or not, there was a time when computers were used to compute. Imagine that. No games, no videos, no myspace. Just crunching data. Well, I'm an old-style kind of guy, and that's what I still use computers for.
With the above premise, the 5600+ gives me the best performance and features for the kind of money I'm willing to spend.
I installed the 5600+ on a Biostar TA780G M2+ (another no-frills component for my needs) without any problems. This CPU-MB-BIOS combination lets me overclock the 5600+ by 10% with total stability and zero effort on my part. I've been happily crunching my stuff since I put the new computer together more than a week ago. Was this review helpful?

Caution - check your heatsink. The heatsink included with this processor does not accomodate all socket AM2 boards. It attaches with clips; some AM2 boards have screw-in heatsinks. If your board has screw-in, be sure to order a heatsink in addition to the heatsink that comes with this processor. Was this review helpful?
