5 of 5 Best Value - Wow Performance Wednesday, April 16, 2008 A Customer from Germantown, MD
I purchased a 6000x2 3.0 GHz over a year and a half ago - it cost significantly more and runs much hotter @ 125 Watts than the 5200 @35 Watts. I really don't notice any performance roll-off whatsoever (the 13% difference between 3 GHz and 2.6 GHz is not noticeable or worth the extra money to me). This chip is a super value. 5 of 5 Great Processor Sunday, March 23, 2008 A Customer from WI
I have two 5200 processors. This one at 65W, and the other at 89W. They both have the 2x1MB cache. this one runs just as fast and cooler than the 89W version. Highly recommend this processor. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Performance and Value Saturday, March 01, 2008 A Customer from Germantown, Maryland
I have two machines running the 6000 Windsor chip (125 Watts power into a 3 GHz clock). I think the cache size is probably the performance key here - not the clock speed. I honestly cannot tell one iota of difference in the performance of the lower speed Athalon CPU's compared to the top end except that they are cheaper and the 65 Watt burn is cooler. I would recommend paying the extra money for the 1MBX2 L1 L2 cache memory, but not for the minuscule gains in clock speed going up the product line from the 4600X2. Was this review helpful?
